Hi everyone, I’d love to take part in the MHCP with this project: an endless zombie-themed tower defense game (currently in beta). The idea is to create a game full of action with minimal wait times. Any feedback is very welcome, thank you! https://horizon.meta.com/world/667060536051393/?locale=it_IT

Hey @patrizio_gas !
Nice work on this game. It feels like it's coming together nicely, that being said there seems to be a stack of things left to do.
Please take my criticism lightly with a grain of salt.
These are all suggestions, just things to consider.
Overall, get the game loop from start to finish done. There should be some end of game thing happening. Despite all the zombie efforts, they didn't really cause any damage to my castle in the game.
I would have loved to have some indicator showing me how many zombies I killed. For mobile it would be nice to lock that info up at the top along with the wave.
I liked how right away you are in the midst of zombies and it's clear what to do. The endless waves of zombies however became a bit monotonous. I love tower defense games and part of the enjoyment of that is the ability to upgrade, repair and build, while my enemies damage things and grow stronger.
I'm expecting to play a tower defense game and right now it's more like a balloon popping game.
I was also thinking it might be fun to break up the waves with some sort of bonus level that might allow you to grab tokens, upgrade weapons, find new tools or build or whatever. Maybe getting results at the end of the waves would be fun.
Once again causing and showing damage would be helpful, some ui showing your building health or your avatar health would be nice. Maybe you have limited ammo or something too.
The visuals and environment is nice, I like the vibe of the environment. If you shut your eyes during game play, it's a very peaceful experience. I'd put a little more into considering your sound environment.
I'd love to have a few better indicators of me blasting the zombies away. If I was making a balloon popping game, I'd show the balloons exploding and have some sound with that. I know the zombies have a little death sequence, it's quiet and slow to get started. Hit or miss, it's nice to have feedback on that.
I'd also like to have some elevation in the game too, I have this awesome castle, it'd be fun to shoot from different perspectives and go inside my castle.
It would be funny to add a for sale sign to the front of the castle, you know like some real estate salesperson sign. You could even have non-zombies approaching the place that you aren't supposed to be shooting. Or add some of those chicken NPCs lol.
I think that's my big list for now.
Nice work, make it better.
Cheers,
Drew

Hey @patrizio_gas
I gave your world a play and it is really cool to see what you have got together. You work is really great so far, and I have a few suggestions that could help take it even further:
A clear win/loss condition would give the game more structure and make it feel like there’s a goal to work toward. Like losing if a zombie reaches the castle or winning after defeating a certain number of zombies.
Adding some sound effects (like gunshots, zombie groans, or hit feedback) could really boost the atmosphere and make the game play feel more dynamic.
Having a simple zombie kill counter or castle health bar on the UI would help with feedback and keep players more engaged.
You’ve done a great job so far, it’s fun to jump in and immediately get into the action. These are just a few ideas that might help expand the experience. Looking forward to seeing where you take it!
Kind regards,
Matt

Hey @Drewls ,
Thank you so much for all the valuable feedback and the time you took to write such detailed suggestions! I really appreciate it.
I’ll most likely implement many of the things you pointed out — they make a lot of sense and will definitely help improve the overall experience.
Feel free to come back and try the game whenever you want, I'd love for you to see how it evolves with the updates!
Also, if you don’t mind, I'd love to hear your opinion: in which category of the contest would you place the game so far?
Thanks again for your support and encouragement!
Talk soon,
Patrizio

Hey @patrizio_gas !
The game has made some great progress. I'm sure you are still working on things and are away of what needs to happen. My comment for you and pretty much everyone entering this hackathon is to make sure to have really good player feedback in the game. So if a character kills a zombie, wins, dies, finds a gem whatever makes sure to show some feedback. I think your game could benefit a lot from some sounds too. The new interface, the damage and the push if you dare button are great additions.
Keep polishing it!
As far as the category goes, don't worry too much about it. It could be a party game or an adventure. I think in the small print of the rules if the judges find a more fitting category for your game, they will adjust it.
Keep cranking! If you ever need any real time feedback or multi player testing, don't be afraid to reach out!
Cheers!
I still think this would be funny. LOL

Hey @patrizio_gas,
You're very welcome! It was a lot of fun jumping into your game and seeing what you've built so far, and how you've implemented feedback already! I'm really looking forward to seeing how it grows with the updates and I'd be happy to check it out again as it evolves!
As for the contest category, I’d probably lean toward party game, it feels like a strong fit based on the experience so far.
Keep up the great work, and good on you for being so open to feedback!
