watercooled, so overheating probably wasn't gonna be the issue, but it's
good to exclude it anyway. Temps hit about 50c at max when testing.
Thanks for the tip, I explicitly disabled selective suspend under power
settings (Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Change Plan
Settings > Change advanced power settings > USB Settings > Disable USB
