To help someone else here. A private message to Support helped me to fix
my email problem. A factory reset was required to pair my headset to my
phone, but it took some time and help from the technical support here to

There is no option to add a phone number. I noticed it took several
hours to update the Oculus profile with the new Facebook email
information. Maybe after the weekend the site will respond to my change
of email setting.
Elsewhere it has been suggested to do a factory reset. I hesitate
because on my profile page and on the app there is no record of my
purchases. The headset says there are 6 installed, but the are not
listed. I am concerned that I will loose them.
