Well, my PC has now rebooted several times without removing and
reinserting the Rift HDMI cable and the Rift white light is on as it
should be rather than the orange one when started this thread. So at
this stage, who knows what the problem was.
If this plug in each time becomes routine, I might use the DVI/HDMI
adaptor so that only the adaptor risks being abused on the PC.n I have
yet to reboot PC since got this working so at least for now have a Rift
headset that works each day.
