receiving a refurbished one after putting in a ticket. All shipping

This is normal when opening up Mirror. You can adjust all manner of
stuff by clicking anywhere on the image and a Menu will pop up in the
top left hand part of the app.It's actually not a bug or problem.
Throwing the box sleeve away was no problem for me (my unit is over 2
years old). Meta accepted the serial number printed on the headset for
replacement purposes.
