This October, Horizon will lean into the Halloween moment by featuring select content and experiences across the Store, Feed, avatar rewards, and Horizon entry points on Facebook and Instagram. Worlds that feature spooky themes and/or other in-world Halloween experiences will be considered for curation. To submit your world, reply to this forum post and include 1) a link to your world (e.g., https://horizon.meta.com/world/9116337161745306/ format), and 2) a short description explaining how your world aligns with the Halloween theme (e.g., a new quest, a decorated lobby/social space, new attachables, etc.) so that we can quickly review the experience. We will begin curating and featuring worlds during the second week of October. Selected worlds will be featured in a dedicated Halloween shelf (or shelves) through November 1. See how your world could be featured in this example of a Halloween-themed shelf: FAQs How are you defining “spooky” and “Halloween” themes? We’re taking an expansive view of this Halloween theme. Think about how you can introduce fun Halloween elements into your worlds in a way that feels native to your experience. Be creative! Do in-world quests give new, on-theme rewards? Does the lobby take on a spooky vibe? Can people dress up in fun new ways? Will Halloween updates—specifically those that may feature blood and violence—have an impact on my world ratings? We recommend referencing our published community guidelines before publishing world updates. These guidelines can help you strike the right balance between participating in this seasonal event and ensuring that your content is appropriate for audiences. Will my world be disadvantaged if I do not participate? Featured worlds may benefit from temporary inclusion in an additional discovery opportunity. Whether you are participating or not, we recommend referring to discovery best practices to ensure that you’re putting your best foot forward. What else should I know? Be mindful that Halloween is a great opportunity to introduce (or reintroduce) your world to new audiences. Make it easy for people to quickly find fun—especially if they’re jumping in for seasonal content!1.6KViews13likes75Comments👻 October Fun: Halloween High Score Hunt
Hey Creators, Over the past two weeks, MHCP members have submitted their spooky worlds for a chance to be featured on Meta Horizon’s Halloween shelf. We’ve had so much fun visiting all the worlds, and we want to invite you to get in on the action. So we’re introducing a new community event: High Score Hunt! We selected this world because it really sends shivers up the spine. In this world, you have a deadly and mysterious creature stalking you as you search for tickets to collect. Once you’ve collected 300 tickets, the exits unlock and you are able to escape—so long as you avoid the grasp of the creature! I’ve escaped once, and I’m looking to see who has the fortitude to achieve the most escapes in a row. Next Steps for Creators Take this opportunity to: Enhance Your Creations: Polish your worlds, introduce new features, and fine-tune user experiences. Experiment with Fresh Ideas: Explore innovative concepts to make your worlds stand out. Mobile-Specific Bonuses One of the compelling reasons to keep working on your mobile-focused titles is to capture the mobile-specific bonuses available to you within the MHCP program. These bonuses are designed to reward creators who excel in optimizing their worlds for mobile experiences, providing additional incentives for innovation and creativity. Incorrectly Tagged Worlds on Horizon on Mobile We discovered some worlds were not tagged as Optimized for Web and Mobile and are actively reaching out to the impacted creators to update the tags promptly, ensuring these worlds are searchable on mobile devices. Please rest assured that this incorrect tagging did not impact the judging process or the selection of potential winners. There is no need for concern if your world was marked VR only during the competition judging window. If your mobile world is not tagged as Optimized for Web and Mobile, please follow these steps to ensure it is tagged correctly for mobile access: In the Desktop or VR Editor, open your menu and select Publish World. From the menu, click the toggle next to Available Through and select All (Mobile, Web, VR). Navigate to the Optimized for Web and Mobile section and toggle it on.
