Solution: Frequent Chromecast Disconnects when Sharing
I finally solved my frequent disconnects when sharing from my Oculus Quest 2 using Chromecast to Google Nest Hub Mini and Google Chromecast with Google TV by disabling the 2.4Ghz WiFi network on my router and keeping only the 5Ghz. Now both devices show up every time I want to cast and they don't disconnect ever anymore. It turns out that they used to be on the same network, but on different frequencies and Chromecast doesn't seem to like that at all.12KViews2likes1CommentCasting Oculus Quest to ChromeCast
Hi Everyone. Loving my Quest at the moment. not loving the casting feature I've got it working on my Chromecast V3. thats not the issue. the issue is the 1-3 second delay between movement and what gets shown on screen. Im on a new 5Ghz wifi network on both my Android phone and quest ( bought the router specially for this purpose) and the router is about 3 meters away from us both. both of the Quest and phone have a full charge and say that the signal strength is excellent. I know the Casting feature is still in beta but I thought id come here to see: 1. is the 1-3 second delay the same for everyone else? 2. is there any reason why i cant get "high" quality selection in the oculus app? the video quality is ok but ive heard people talk of high. giving me the thought that my head set/phone/connection isnt talking to each other right and giving me a slow/delayed video feed. Thanks in advance16KViews2likes15CommentsWhy won't Oculus Quest 2 or Oculus App find my Chromecast?
Quest 2 was casting fine to Chromecast Gen3 at a friend's house two days ago. Brought both the Chromecast and the Quest 2 back home, and now the Chromecast isn't showing up on my Oculus app, or the casting option in the headset. Not sure why it was working before, but isn't now. Anyone have the same problem, or a solution? Everything is on the same network, and I've tried troubleshooting just about everything. Is something possibly with my internet? Please help...2KViews1like1CommentQuest 2 Not Finding Chromecast Gen3?

I'm buying my quest 2 soon, I'm gonna pick up a "Chromecast with Google TV" as well. It's basically an Android TV stick made by Google, just came out. I know it can cast to a regular chromecast, but can the Oculus quest 2 cast to the new one as well? I would like my family to be able to see what's being played.1KViews0likes2CommentsUsing Scrcpy to cast your Quest to a PC (and avoid the red dot)
If you've tried to cast your Quest to your phone or another device, you may have noticed a red dot in the (almost) center of your vision. It's very jarring and kind of ruins the experience (IMHO, at least). -- So, I did some digging and came up with a workaround that allows me to cast my Quest to a Windows PC (which can then be plugged into a TV, etc.). The script requires a little bit of setup, and that either: the device be on your same Wi-Fi network as the PC (and that the two be visible to each other) or: that the device be plugged into the PC via USB cable. -- The latter is less error prone, but more annoying (and is required for the very first time setup, until you've granted adb permissions). My original tweet about the workaround can be found here: https://twitter.com/BrainSlugs83/status/1131594406560059392 -- in the video shown, I'm using my phone as a hotspot for both the laptop and the headset. And the full source of the batch script / instructions can be found here: https://t.co/NSj4MaiLX2 I hope ... : 1.) ... that someday, they give us the option to disable the red dot (with a warning, or only in developer mode or something would be fine! -- people have literally been complaining about this issue for YEARS) 2.) ... that they eventually give us the ability to cast to other devices (such as a PC, or a Roku box). 3.) ... that this post helps someone. ?10KViews4likes1CommentAre specific ports involved when casting to Chromecast?
I am currently working with Linksys tech support to get my Linksys EA7300 MAX-STREAMâ„¢ AC1750 MU-MIMO Gigabit WiFi Router to enable the Quest to "recognize" my Chromecast. I am wondering if perhaps one or more ports that are required for casting are being blocked. Does anyone know what, if any, specific ports need to be open or forwarded?5.6KViews0likes3CommentsChromecast to Sony A1E OLED TV with built in Chromecast
I'm trying to get my Oculus Quest to see my Sony A1E OLED TV with built in Chromecast. I started with my TV internet connection hardwired to my router, and, of course, my Quest on my home WiFi. When I was unable to see my TV from the Quest, I removed my TV network cable and hooked up my TV to the same home WiFi network as the Quest. I am still unable to see the TV. I have no issues casting to the TV from other devices (phones, computers, tablets). Any thoughts or things I can try? My network is dual band (2.4 / 5 Ghz). Maybe the Quest is on the 2.4 size and the TV is using 5 Ghz... does that matter? Just grasping at straws here.678Views0likes2CommentsChromecast issue
Is anybody else having an issue where your Chromecast is not even appearing as a an option for streaming? I have a Chromecast 3, both are on the same 5Ghz network, and it will stream stuff from my phone (Android) normally. It'll even mirror Quest stuff that I stream to the phone, but not directly to the Chromecast. Any suggestions on how to get it to reappear as an option?761Views0likes2Comments
