Late to this V.81 party, but hoping I didn't join it at all
Like the title says, I am rather late to this V.81 update (I only got it today, and immediately learned that it's already 4 months old). Honestly, I have nothing good to say about the update. I guess all that I'm going to say about has already been addressed here, but just still need to vent this out. The worst thing about the whole update is the decreased battery life. I've never had my Quest 2 (which I've only had for 2y 1m) battery drain this fast. Only reading through the patch notes to V.81 drained battery by 16%, just because there's this new "immersive home" running on the background all the time. After 15 minutes in FitXR, my battery was already down to 63%. After 15 minutes!! Before this update, I was able to do a whole 40 minute workout on FitXR and have still over 50% of battery left. The battery drain is truly insane after this update. Also never has the home screen and menus been as laggy as they were after the update. Things are loading so slowly, some menu buttons requires to be pressed twice before they are registered.. It's just horrible. The second worst thing is the already mentioned immersive home. I don't understand why Meta doesn't give customers the ability to choose with these "Horizon Worlds/Central" things. Why force them on people who don't want anything to do with them?? Is their Metaverse plans doing so bad that their only option is to force people into these things? I personally don't want anything to do with them, and I know I am not the only one with this opinion. So not only is this absolutely useless garbage being forced onto people, they also do it in a way that makes their VR sets work worse. Hindsight is always 20/20 as they say, and if this is the way these things truly are going, boy am I glad that I cancelled making my Quest 3 purchase and removed it from shopping cart while doing other shopping. At this rate, I'll rather get Pico 4. I don't use standalone features that much (mainly use for wireless PCVR), and thankfully I haven't spent that much money in meta store for apps. I truly hope that they get all the performance and battery drain fixed on V.83, when I finally will be able to get that update (probably need to see again after 4 months).Solved204Views0likes19Commentsv81 passthrough update thoughts?
Just updated my quest 3 to v81 3 days ago. Personally, I absolutely despise the new passthrough. The "see your surroundings" is super unnecessary, and doesn't even really improve convenience. I much preferred the old passthrough. Just a double tap and I'm back in home, while in passthrough. I could walk wherever I wanted, then go back and resume with a double tap. Now? I have to have this annoying "resume" popup constantly on my screen, can't even access my menu without exiting passthrough and then pressing the menu button, then manually activating passthrough again. And when I walk out of the boundary, it now keeps pestering me with "create a new boundary here?" With no option for "no." I absolutely despise this update. I really, really want an option to just go back to v79 passthrough. And even then, the switch to passthrough and back feels so much slower. I don't want to see a pink abyss when I double tap on my headset! Old one was so much better. I regret updating so badly. Please, Meta, add an option for old passthrough. Don't force this inferior, "updated" version on us, please. sorry about the rant, just had to get it out of me. Wanted to know if anyone else shares my frustrations.92Views1like2CommentsAbsolutely Disgraceful!
I'll try to be brief. I recently had issues with my Quest 2 headset that I arranged with Meta to have replaced. We had extreme issues with the shipping process in the very beginning but somehow managed to work through that. Once Meta had received my headset and I had been made aware, I was told that there was a 3-5 day turn around for processing before it was shipped out. After 7 business days I had still heard nothing, so I reached out to Meta Live Chat who informed me that while yes, it had been received, nothing had been done with it so far and they weren't sure why. They couldn't give me any more than this. They opened an investigation which they assured me would take 3-5 working days to complete and I would be updated with what was happening. During that waiting period, I received emails from Meta saying that my case was their top priority etc (at ridiculous hours of the night over the weekend) but still no actual updates were given. I responded to the most recent email asking for an update and have been ignored. I have just now, on day 5, been in touch with Meta Live Chat who are, once again, telling me that there is no update, there is nothing they can do and all I can do is wait. I asked to speak to a manager and was told I would have to email... which I have done and been ignored. I asked to speak to someone in the complaints department... and was told that I had to do so here on the community forum. Funny complaints department if you ask me. I have no update, no support, no clue as to what's going on. Nothing. I feel as though I have been brushed off at every turn and am left with no headset and no options. I am furious. Actually, furious doesn't even begin to explain how I am feeling. This is an absolutely disgraceful display of competence and customer service on Meta's part. What am I meant to do here? Does anyone have any suggestions or anything helpful to add?62Views2likes2Comments
