Echo VR Remake (in godot)
Hello! So basically, I have started to make an own game similar to Echo VR. But I have a bit of backstory first. I downloaded and played echo vr for the first time this year. It seemed like a very fun game. I played a few games, and got the hang of it. Everything was nice until my little brother told me that echo is shutting down in August this year (in just three days when I am writing this). Of course that was a sad thing to hear. It is a very fun game. I continued to play now and then, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to continue for so long. Now, I happen to be a dude interested in programming. I don't need to go into too much detail, but I have recently programmed a bit in the game engine godot. So I thought, why not take inspiration from echo vr and make my own game in godot? And so, I started developing it. Now, I am a single person (with the help of my brothers though), so I obviously won't be able to make a super fancy game. But, my goal is to make a fully playable game similar to echo vr. I have come quite a bit on the way, but I am struggling a bit with the multiplayer connections. But when I feel that the game is ready, the thought is to maybe release the game to sidequest or something. If you think this sounds interesting, keep an eye on this conversation, I will update it as I progress with my game. I hope someone except me thinks this is a fun idea! ๐ ---------------------EDIT!!! 17 November 2023--------------------- I have come quite a bit longer on the project. Multiplayer features are starting to work correctly, which always are hard to get to work well. I think I might have a completely playable game pretty soon (although, the graphics are debatable). The thing I am concerned about is the server, which obviously is needed to be able to play multiplayer. I will have to think about that. By the way, good news: I will be able to release the game to App Lab! That means you won't even have to sideload the app. That was all this time. Please check in here sometimes if you are interested, a release may not be that far away!2.8KViews2likes6CommentsHow do I manually update an app on a Quest headset?
Last week I tried to play Echo VR using my Oculus Quest headset, so I could see the changes made prior to Season 1 of the Echo Pass. I clicked the "join lobby" button on the game's main menu and received a message saying "Please update Echo VR". I tried closing the game and leaving the headset alone for a few days; I left it charging, connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection, and turned on. I tried to play the game again, but still received the "Please update Echo VR" message. Is there a way I can manually update an app stored on the Quest headset's memory?4.4KViews0likes2CommentsRookie Crossplay Cup - Echo Arena cross platform cup for new players in Quest open beta
