Meta Quest 3 Black Screen After Logo and Firmware Arrow
Many Meta Quest 3 owners are experiencing the same serious issue after what appears to be a faulty firmware update. The headset starts normally, shows the Meta logo, then displays the down-arrow firmware symbol as if it’s updating. After that, the screen goes completely black and never turns back on. People have already tried every official fix that Meta recommends: Rebooting the headset. Performing a full hard reset using the power and volume buttons. Installing the manual firmware update through the Meta update tool on a computer. Even after completing all of these steps successfully, the headset remains unusable. The issue clearly points to a defective firmware update or a corrupted boot process caused by the update itself, not user error or damage. Some customers have received replacements, while others have been denied support because their device is out of warranty. That inconsistency is unacceptable. A firmware defect that originates from Meta should not depend on warranty status. This needs to be recognized as a widespread product issue. Meta should take responsibility, publicly acknowledge the problem, and provide free repairs or replacements to all affected customers. Everyone affected should post here and share: When the problem started and what update version it followed. Any videos or photos showing the black screen sequence. What Meta Support said or offered in response. If enough reports are collected, this could draw the attention of consumer protection agencies, the media, or legal firms willing to pursue a class action. The goal is not to complain, but to get a fair solution for everyone who has been left with a bricked headset due to a faulty update. This issue is not isolated. It’s widespread, and it needs to be addressed now.1.4KViews5likes11CommentsUrgent: Meta Quest hardware inaccessible - Account disabled after security breach
Hello, I am writing this post because my sister-in-law is currently unable to use her Meta Quest headset, which has become a "paperweight" due to an unfair account ban. Her account was compromised by a malicious third party (hacked) who posted unauthorized ads. We have already tried the standard appeal process, but it was rejected by an automated system without any human review of the evidence. This is not just a social media issue; it is a hardware accessibility issue. She has purchased games and software that are now inaccessible. We are looking for a manual review from the specialized team to verify the suspicious login activity and restore her access to her Meta Quest device. Device: Meta Quest 2 / 3 Account Email: [deleted] Could a moderator please help us escalate this to a human agent? Thank you.93Views0likes4CommentsBricked oculus rift s
Ok i have a rift s, that worked fine and dandy perfectly for years. then suddenly after not using it for some time it stopped working. by stopped working i mean: it tracks my movement in games (when using oculusKiller, and sometimes when using the normal Meta Quest Link). only shows a black screen, or loads infinitely(3 dots). what ive done to try and fix it: restart pc reconnect cables different ports powered usb hub removing all other connected devices updating drivers complete pc wipe and reset. complete reinstall downgraded drivers and software (v24, v25, v28 all tested same result) tried oculusKiller (works better but still just shows a black screen, while still tracking movement, and playing audio) using a quest 2 with cable works (but disconnects often randomly) I dont know what is wrong and dont know how to fix whatever this is. I paid for this hardware and suddenly being unable to use it is unacceptable ALSO: i am unable to get support because the support thing says: "We couldn't find a device associated with the verification info provided. Please try again." (with a valid rift s serial number) i can also not find a different way to contact meta about this1.7KViews2likes12CommentsQuest 2 App Launcher and System stuck in a bootloop on start-up
So basically I just started up my headset, it started up normally up until the passthrough appeared, every few seconds it would stop capturing and keep going in the direction the headset's tracking was going, stretching before it then begin capturing again, it then tried to boot the main launcher which failed each time, each time it failed the screen went black, still on though. I tried to see if a factory reset would fix it but no, that failed and it kept doing that thing now with the starting screen thing, it required the controllers so I grabbed those and started them, each time the screen did that going black thing the controllers disconnected and reconnected. I did try to use the online updater but it said my headset was 'unsupported'. I'm not sure what do to really, I tried to look it up but I kept getting results for different issues. I sure do hope it's just a software issue cause it was working fine last night. (another thing I forgot to mention is that I did have it plugged in to my pc all night, though the headset was off, hope that helps if that's relevant)31Views0likes0CommentsMeta Quest 3 won't turn on, no charging indicator
Hello, I have the following problem with a Meta Quest 3 headset : it simply won't turn on or respond to anything. The screen is black (turned off, no light), and no charging indicator light up on it no matter what I do. It also hasn't emitted a single sound. When the charging cable is plugged on the side (with the original charger), no light turns on, and only a very very faint electronic sizzling sound can be heard from the USB-C port. When I connect the charged Elite strap with battery to the headset, the charging light of the extended battery briefly turns orange for a second, then turns off. And the same small sizzling sound can be heard from the USB-C port on the side. What I have tried : - Charging for 2h the headset through the battery extension and trying again. No response. - Charging overnight the headset directly and trying again (despite there being no light indicator on at all). No response. - Pressing the Power button for 30 s. No response. - Pressing both Power button and Volume down button for 30s. No response. - Checking the detection sensor behind the (original) cover, nothing abnormal. Essentially, it seems bricked, and for the moment I have no idea what might have had caused it. What can be done? Thanks in advance.1.2KViews1like21CommentsMeta Quest 2 Issues
I'm having issues with my Meta Quest 2 not powering on, when plugged in the device only pulls power when the power button is held, and still then the light on the side simply flashes red. I haven't used the device in about 5+ months so I am assuming the battery is completely dead. After doing some research and trying all publicly available methods of fixing the issue, I have come to the conclusion I might need to contact support however I am now having issues doing that as when I attempt to enter my serial number (which is written both in the controllers and the side of the headset) it simply rejects it and says that product isn't found, I have attached images showing this. I am also 100% sure I am entering it correctly as I have even attempted to scan the QR code on the device and copy the text directly from that. I am unable to access the email linked to the device so I am now wondering if I am just left with an expensive paperweight. Any help would be appreciated with this as It's becoming increasingly annoying especially when I am completely unable to contact support. Thanks in Advance!133Views0likes5Comments[UNRESOLVED as of May 30, 2024] - Quest 3 Controller Tracking Issues
update May 30, 2024: There have been no updates/improvements to controller tracking since Meta Support marked this as solved! Community consensus seems to be that this issue stems from hardware/software limitations with the controllers, specifically the method of tracking (as a software developer working specifically in the machine learning and computer vision space, I agree that this technology is not particularly robust enough to handle some types of movement). If you play games that require fast hand movements and/or dynamic hand positioning, I would recommend not buying a Quest 3, unfortunately. I've heard some anecdotes regarding improved tracking with the Quest Pro controllers, but the improvements are marginal at best - not worth the additional ~$300 for minimal performance gains IMO. My personal recommendation is to stick to Quest 2. Not to detract from the various improvements that the Quest 3 has brought (e.g., color passthrough w/higher resolution, better hand tracking, higher overall hardware specs compared to Quest 2, etc.), but Quest 2 controller tracking is significantly better than the Quest 3's. Ideally, my hope is that Meta will push an update that allows for pairing Quest 2 controllers with the Quest 3, but as of right now, that's just a pipe dream as Meta has given no indication of making these headsets/controllers backwards compatible. While I'm (naively) hopeful that things will change, realistically speaking, I have 0 expectations and a lot of disappointment. tl;dr: I've had a Quest 2 for almost 3 years. I received my Quest 3 today and was very excited to use it. Controller tracking performance is much worse than the Quest 2, at least in the context of games where you swing your arms as fast as you can. This was not a problem for the Quest 2 (unless controllers were physically damaged, e.g., hitting a wall, dropping them, etc.). Don't buy if you play games like Gorilla Tag, Beat Saber, Synth Riders, or any of the other games mentioned throughout this thread!!! Question: Are there ways to modify the Quest 3's controller tracking such that fast hand movements won't be affected by the prediction-like behavior where the in-game hand moves farther than you swing? When I perform a baseball throwing movement with my hand/arm, the tracking will not keep up and it ends up losing my hand's position for a fraction of a second, causing my in-game hand to be positioned farther away than my hand actually is (this is not an issue with Quest 2 controller tracking). Details/Context: I primarily use VR for exercise, and I mostly play Gorilla Tag. Gorilla Tag is a game where you play as the upper half of a gorilla, using your arms as your means of locomotion. Basically, you use your arms as if they were your legs, and you can run, climb trees, wall-run, etc. It's an infection-based tagging game where you join a lobby of up to 9 other people, and the game will randomly select a player to be the first tagger. The tagger(s) will continue tagging until everyone in the lobby has been tagged (infection-style), and then a random player will be selected as first tagger; this pattern just continuously repeats. While the learning curve is pretty steep to play at a high level, there is a growing community of players who are very competitive (approx. 10-20k players based on the communities I participate in - Competitive Gorilla Tag on Discord and Gorilla Tag Competitive on Discord). As a prominent member of this community, people have been seeking my feedback on whether or not the Quest 3 is worth it. While I feel that a majority of the new features are amazing, I have had issues with the controller tracking. Gorilla Tag is an active game where you're constantly swinging your arms as fast as you can to travel around the map(s) to avoid being tagged. The primary player base for the game is Quest 2 users. Aside from physical damage, most players have not had any problems with controller tracking on the Quest 2, aside from when the controller goes out of the tracking range of the headset (as expected). However, the Quest 3 controllers lose tracking during medium-fast to fast hand movement (medium-fast: like playing catch with a friend; fast: throwing a baseball as hard as you can). The consequence of this in the context of Gorilla Tag is that your in-game arm extends to the game's max arm length frequently, causing your hand to collide with the wall/tree/ground and launch you away from the surface. This is a big issue for games/activities involving fast-paced hand movement as it's not nearly as reliable as the Quest 2 controller tracking performance.Solved186KViews49likes524CommentsQuest 2 Meta cams not working properly
Hey, my Meta cams (so the cams used to see the environment etc.) doesnt really work. So if I start my Quest 2 and it asks for the Guardian thing to set up it does work and I can see my real surroundings through the cams but it only works for like 3-5 seconds until the cams crash? Basically they freeze and it stops working for some reason. But also when I start the Quest 2 I already have a black screen for the setup and basically have to do the guardian thing "blind". I already did a Factory reset but that didnt fix the issue.199Views0likes6Comments
