My Creator Story: Maybe This Time I'll Finish
I've always been someone who starts things. Earlier this year, I tried Unity modding. I learned, I built, I got somewhere; but I couldn't close the gap between "in progress" and "done." It stayed unfinished, like so many projects before it. I've tried creating in Second Life, VRChat, Vroid, countless wrestling game character creators. But nothing stuck. Either the tools fought me, or it never felt like it was truly mine. Then in October, I started making clothing in Horizon Worlds. And something was different. I got addicted immediately. For the first time in a long time, I wasn't just starting something; I was finishing pieces. Designing them, releasing them, watching people actually wear what I made. Creating clothing made me want more. I wanted a place to sell from. So I'm building a store now ; but if I'm honest, it's becoming something bigger. The store is an excuse. What I'm really building is a world. Fiction and worldbuilding have always been my strengths, and I'm quietly weaving that into every corner of this project. The problem is: I'm doing this completely alone. I've always wanted to program, but my brain doesn't work well with code or math. I'm shy about meeting new people and even worse at maintaining relationships, so finding a partner or collaborator feels impossible right now. But I'm still going. I broke out my iPad and Apple Pencil and started drawing again. I'm learning scripting even though it doesn't come naturally. I'm making slow progress toward something I can't fully picture yet. I don't know what the finished version will look like. But for the first time in a while, I think I might actually close the door on something and call it complete. Maybe this time is different. https://www.facebook.com/BlackObsidianProtocol/72Views4likes2CommentsStar Central
I've made my new Star Central VR world public for anyone who would like a peek. https://horizon.meta.com/world/775774868524152/?locale=en_US This is a huge world about the Milky Way at many different scales from the solar system, to the closest stars, to the local interstellar medium, to a Gaia map of hot star density out to 6 kpc (20 thousand light years). It even has a walkable map of dwarf galaxies in the outer halo. It is still in beta but now I am basically just putting up posters, looking for bugs and working on a video trailer. I hope that it will be done next week. I might enter it into the contest but I am still not sure. You can get a basic idea by looking at it on your mobile phone but this is an immersive 3D world that really shines in a VR headset. I have been entering worlds into the mobile contests this year but won nothing. The Star Central world is my form of rebellion that uses the huge potential of Horizon Worlds to create amazing immersive 3D worlds. You can leave Star Central itself in a starship and travel to many other star systems. You accumulate points that show on a leaderboard by visiting the cartography room in each star station. Don't miss the Star Cinema and the Star Style clothing store. You can even get space suits in the clothing store! I welcome feedback. Please respond here.114Views2likes5CommentsViking Vibes Clothing Store

For the past year, I've been building a 5-6 world universe. Currently, I have Zone One and Zone Wars live, with Zone 2 and Zone 3 in progress. The initial Zone One project started as a proof of concept—an experiment to see what was possible. At first, it was just an awesome build with no clear idea of how to make it immersive or retain players. Given the complexity of Horizon Worlds, I knew Zone One might appeal more to an older crowd. To help new players, I created a Mod Team to run Steel City and guide newcomers. It worked for a while, but with the long development times of the other worlds, we may have lost some momentum. With our latest addition, 5v5 Zone Wars, I was hoping for a big rollout and strong traffic, especially given Zone One’s popularity. It’s only been a week, so I’ll give it a month to see how things progress. The success of Zone Wars will determine whether I continue this massive project or shift focus. Looking ahead, I’ve learned what works in Horizon and how to streamline experiences. My goal is tomake things easier to understand and more engaging. I plan to create experiences and mini-games under the Battle for Steel City brand to build retention, grow an audience, and establish a universe that can sustain itself with community involvement. This year, I plan to release Zone 2 and Zone 3, along with Zone Racing and an inner-city sport called Blitz Board. There will also be several cinematic story experiences, including rescue missions, defense missions, and the epic battle for Steel City. Exciting times ahead—let’s see where this journey takes us!768Views54likes3CommentsBase32 Encrypted License Keys
I've got something that's not as flashy, but scripting functions I am proud of. However, the original application is no longer relevant now that we can share PPV groups with other creators. I finished this system a couple weeks ago to unlock things like wearable assets in worlds owned by others. Ideally we would already be able to add our IWPs to other's worlds, but this would have been a work around. Once the player completes the task such as an achievement or IWP a mirror appears with custom UI which shows a base 32 encrypted key which is unique to their username. This is a unique license key is useless to share with friends as it will only work for them. I have a functional custom UI console to go into the other worlds that I just had to make pretty. This is what allowed players to enter their code to change the PPVs in another creator's world. If someone does have an unusual application or reason for needing this kind of encryption, let's talk. note: In the background you will see some characters from a 57 character fictional alphabet I used as part of this system. Some may have seen I used this same methodology to convert English characters (romaji) into Japanese katakana symbols for greater international support. Theoretically if I had an image for each character or any custom font (English or not) I could similarly build these onto a custom UI easy enough as I already did this with a fictional language.264Views28likes1Comment
