Many Meta Quest 3 owners are experiencing the same serious issue after what appears to be a faulty firmware update. The headset starts normally, shows the Meta logo, then displays the down-arrow firmware symbol as if it’s updating. After that, the screen goes completely black and never turns back on. People have already tried every official fix that Meta recommends: Rebooting the headset. Performing a full hard reset using the power and volume buttons. Installing the manual firmware update through the Meta update tool on a computer. Even after completing all of these steps successfully, the headset remains unusable. The issue clearly points to a defective firmware update or a corrupted boot process caused by the update itself, not user error or damage. Some customers have received replacements, while others have been denied support because their device is out of warranty. That inconsistency is unacceptable. A firmware defect that originates from Meta should not depend on warranty status. This needs to be recognized as a widespread product issue. Meta should take responsibility, publicly acknowledge the problem, and provide free repairs or replacements to all affected customers. Everyone affected should post here and share: When the problem started and what update version it followed. Any videos or photos showing the black screen sequence. What Meta Support said or offered in response. If enough reports are collected, this could draw the attention of consumer protection agencies, the media, or legal firms willing to pursue a class action. The goal is not to complain, but to get a fair solution for everyone who has been left with a bricked headset due to a faulty update. This issue is not isolated. It’s widespread, and it needs to be addressed now.1.5KViews5likes11CommentsVR video glitches (not games)
Lately, when I try to watch a VR video on my Quest 2, the playback keeps glitching. Varous sections of the screen go black in rapid fire succession. It's almost as if there is a loose wire or something. But I don't have this problem when playing games, only video. It is really jarring and affects the whole screen, particularly on the left side. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? I don't use my headset very often, so I have no interest in buying a newer version.55Views0likes2CommentsMeta Bricked my Quest 2
This is honestly unacceptable. My Meta Quest 2 has been completely bricked by your latest update. Before the update, it worked perfectly. After the update, it is now a useless piece of hardware. Let’s be clear! this was not caused by misuse, damage, or anything on my end. This was caused by software YOU pushed to the device. I’ve gone through every troubleshooting step possible: factory reset, reboot, charging checks — nothing works. The device is dead because of your update. What makes this worse is that it’s now conveniently “out of warranty,” yet the failure is directly tied to your software. That’s not acceptable. Customers should not be left with a bricked device because of a forced update they had no control over. I’m also not the only one? there are multiple reports of the same issue happening to other users after this update. That points to a wider problem that Meta needs to take responsibility for. Right now, I’m stuck with a device that your update has destroyed, and support has been no help. So I’ll say it plainly.... I expect Meta to step up and replace or fix devices affected by this issue. Anything less is just ignoring a problem you created. This shows you don't really care about your customers who pay for the things you build. I’ll be watching closely to see how this is handled.165Views0likes6CommentsHeadset stuck on startup

Well, headset just updated to v59. The option for "MTP Notification" is enabled but no notification appears when connecting USB (official Link cable). MTP can be established with ADB commands at which time file transfers via Windows UI is possible. Of course Meta's response will be to do a factory reset. These have always been a complete waste of time and solved nothing.11KViews0likes27CommentsQuest 2 App Launcher and System stuck in a bootloop on start-up
So basically I just started up my headset, it started up normally up until the passthrough appeared, every few seconds it would stop capturing and keep going in the direction the headset's tracking was going, stretching before it then begin capturing again, it then tried to boot the main launcher which failed each time, each time it failed the screen went black, still on though. I tried to see if a factory reset would fix it but no, that failed and it kept doing that thing now with the starting screen thing, it required the controllers so I grabbed those and started them, each time the screen did that going black thing the controllers disconnected and reconnected. I did try to use the online updater but it said my headset was 'unsupported'. I'm not sure what do to really, I tried to look it up but I kept getting results for different issues. I sure do hope it's just a software issue cause it was working fine last night. (another thing I forgot to mention is that I did have it plugged in to my pc all night, though the headset was off, hope that helps if that's relevant)32Views0likes0CommentsMeta Horizon Link burning my PC
My laptop is not the newest but never had any problems with gaming or work. It handles games like Cyberpunk 2077 and rendering programs without putting the CPU above 90°C (194°F). I haven't used my Quest 2 in around a year but I used to play a lot of PCVR games like Half-Life Alyx using the cable without any problems. Right now it's different. Having only a youtube video on Firefox my CPU is 60°C (140°F). Just turning on the Meta Horizons Link on my laptop (without my Quest connected) makes my CPU raise to 95°C (203.00°F) in about 3 minutes. I spend over 3 hours looking for the reason why my laptop gets so hot and this seems to be the only reason. Turning off the Meta Horizon Link app completely makes my laptop go back to 60°C in around a minute. On top of that, any PCVR game I turn on gets a black screen on my Quest after a few minutes, but the buttons are responsive and the game still runs normally on the laptop. I have installed Meta Horizon Link a week ago on a factory reset laptop but i haven't used it until now and I can't do anything related to PCVR. I really don't understand what could possibly be the reason for all that.57Views0likes1Comment
