Control Oculus Dash programmatically
In my app, I would like to direct the user to the Oculus Dash Desktop feature of Rift Core. I was wondering if it was possible to open the Oculus Dash Desktop directly from my experience, so that the user does not need to find it in the Oculus Dash menu. I have looked online but have not found many resources about Oculus Dash developer support. Thanks in advance.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsHow to display game image on Oculus dashboard, from an "Unknown Source" app (running via Steam)?
Hello, where do you specify the image to use when you are in-game and press the Oculus Dashboard button? Currently, I see the image of the broken image/mountains look instead of my Hero, Cover, Logo, Icon, any of the assets on the Oculus site. Okay, figured out that this only occurs if the game is launched via the Steam product instead of the Oculus store version. When you launch via Steam, Oculus treats it as an "Unknown Source", so it doesn't have the information to display the image. My follow-up question now is, can we include an image in our Steam version, that the Oculus Dash would read from? So the image isn't the broken/missing version, and would instead show the correct image?633Views1like1CommentOculus Dash steals Input Focus on switch to VR
I have an application that runs in desktop and VR. If I start the app in desktop mode and put on my headset, the Oculus app launches and after a few seconds, my app starts to render in the HMD. A few seconds later, Oculus Dash appears and steals input focus. If I select my application from Dash, it returns focus to my app. If the Oculus app is already running when I switch to VR, this doesn't happen (my app maintains input focus). I tried the same series of steps with an app like Quill. I see that Dash does appear when the Oculus app starts, but then focus is returned to Quill and Dash disappears. As far as I can tell, I'm following all the advice from https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/book-dg/ Does anyone know why this might be happening?537Views0likes0CommentsAdding icons/store art for Dash local builds?
I'd like to add Dash icons/store art for my local Unity build. Is this possible? I've tried updating the Icons under player settings in Unity, but they don't seem to be utilized by Oculus. Is there a way to integrate these for local builds? Or does something have to be released through the store to have an icon in Dash?463Views0likes0CommentsOculus Dash Support for Multiplayer Experiences
The documentation states that applications supporting Dash should "pause, mute audio playback, and stop rendering any tracked controllers" when the Dash menu is active. Does the requirement to "pause" a multiplayer experience includes pausing all other users' movements? Or in pausing the Dash user's input, actions, and audio sufficient? If the user is on a "railroaded" experience with other players, can they continue through the experience or will we be forced to disconnect them? Similarly, are we required to mute all audio communication or if we can leave party voice chat active?685Views0likes1Comment
