Horizon link not working
My Q3 was linking fine to my PC this afternoon, then literally an hour or two later, will not link. I'm using a usb 3.0 cable, it is in a USB 3 port, power management of USB port is set correctly. I get a notification saying 'Meta Quest Link isn't working correctly. Click here to check our support article'. There is no support article. I have restarted the headset and PC, repaired the Horizon app, logged out and back into the Horizon app, restarted the OVR service and I still can't get it to work. Anyone else having or had similar issues recently? OS: Windows 11 Quest Model: Quest 2 (more than one) Link Cable: Multiple third party cables made for Quest 2 PC: Multiple PC setups including laptops Hello, I'm not necessarily here to ask a question, but I want Meta to be aware of an ongoing issue with the Oculus Software on Windows 11 (I haven't tested on 10). For the past year(?) I have been experiencing an issue where Quest Link either: fails outright with an error message, displays a black screen with three dots indefinitely, or I get video but no audio despite the audio settings being correct in 1) Oculus Software, 2) Windows, 3) In the game. I have tested on a slew of different devices all running Windows 11 including desktop PC's and laptops. I have also tested several different third party cables, and even with different Quest 2 headsets. The issue presents itself at seemingly random. Some times it works flawlessly. Most of the time, however, it requires 1) replugging the cable, 2) Restarting Oculus Software, 3) Restarting the PC, 4) Restarting the Quest 2. I change nothing with the configuration of my PC and it will decide to work or not randomly. I have also tried almost every trick on the internet, including messing with USB power saving settings, changing usb ports, trying new cables, trying new computers with a new Windows install, trying new Quest 2's, etc. and a lot of things I don't remember anymore. Nothing works. As you can imagine, I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work, even resorting to replacing Quest 2's and trying my family's gaming setups. I am beyond frustrated that my attempts to solve this problem have been futile. I am convinced that the Oculus Software on PC is the culprit and is not working as intended. I'll be shocked if Meta's engineers are unable to reproduce the issue, because my attempts to get Quest Link to work consistently have failed on a variety of hardware.Solved27KViews9likes20CommentsOculus app stuck on “pairing your quest 2” screen

UPDATE: Solution found by Hansaplastique! THANK YOU! It seems this method forces Intel(R) UHD Graphics to render for OVRServer_x64.exe. At least, that's what's selected under "Power Saving" for my PC. My games still run fine using this method, since they still use the GPU. The dashboard/OVRServer doesn't utilize the GPU while in use. Changing the preferred processor in Nvidia Control panel for OVRServer_x64.exe does NOT solve the issue, although I thought it would effectively accomplish the same thing. Many thanks to Hansaplastique. You're a real gamer. I made a video tutorial for the solution for anyone confused. https://youtu.be/H_WbAHVV7o4 __________________ Original Post Below -------------------- Oculus app isn't showing desktop, just black screen. Though, I can still control the cursor with my controller. I have a Rift S and a Quest 2 and both have the issue. So far, I've restarted, repaired install, and installed latest graphics card drivers but have had no success. I also completely uninstalled and re-installed and am still having the issue. Currently blaming the recent update. My Quest 2 is running on v. 27, because v. 28 is not yet available to me. But I doubt that's issue because my Rift S also has the problem. OLD 4/25/21: I've been working with Oculus Support, but so far no amount of troubleshooting has solved the issue. My working theories are: 1. Nvidia Optimus laptops 2. The new update just glitched out the integrated Virtual Desktop in the Oculus PC application. This issue is not present on my Desktop computer. I run VR on a MSI GL75 Leopard 10SFK-029. I'm still able to play games, and the black screen is my only symptom. CPU: i7-10750H GPU: 2070 (mobile) RAM: 32gb at 2933 MHzSolved69KViews7likes33Comments
