Enterprise deployment of Meta Horizon Link: How to disable auto-updates for 150 Lab PCs?
We admin VR/Immersive software at a University. We currently deploy Meta Horizon Link to ~150 PCs and its used for Unity VR development with Meta Quest headsets. Students do not have admin rights. When the app auto-updates, the main software installs fine, but the driver updates fail because they trigger a UAC (Admin) prompt that students cannot accept. This leaves the software in a broken state until IT manually intervenes. The rolling/unpredictable release schedule makes this hard to plan for during a teaching term/semester. What we found so far Config: We found the new "Disable Auto-Updates" toggle in the UI, but it appears to be user-specific and stored as a binary BLOB in a local SQLite DB (data.sqlite). We are hesitant to script edits to this file on login as it seems brittle compared to a standard Registry key (?). Network: We are thinking of using a Windows Firewall rule to block the updater exe (OVRServiceLauncher.exe) to "freeze" the version for the term/semester. The trade-off is this would likely block the ability to download new store apps/experiences (though our primary use case is Unity dev, so this might be acceptable). Questions Has anyone successfully managed this in an enterprise/education environment? Or have any good hacks :) Is there a more robust way to disable updates than the firewall block? If you use the firewall method, have you run into any major side effects? Thanks!15Views0likes0CommentsCan't install Quest Link, no continue button
Hi, I am trying to install the quest link on a new windows laptop, but it keeps getting stuck on the VR Downloads page after I log in to my account. There's no continue button or an option to select a location on this page. I reinstalled several times and changed the download location, but they didn't work. Has anyone experienced this before?634Views0likes5CommentsCant Login to Oculus Quest Link Software (Black Screen)

I've read many articles, posts, and websites about this issue. Everything says to "set OVRServer_x64 to Power Saving mode." I've done that multiple times. I've also re-installed the Oculus app, twice. I've re-downloaded all my NVIDIA and AMD drivers. I have no clue what to do. Quest link worked a week ago, now it doesn't. I can add desktop panels, and use them, but I can't see my desktop. Any help would be appreciated. ------------------- My specs: Operating system: Microsoft Windows 11 Home (10.0, Build 22631) Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8-Core Processor 8/16 Motherboard: ASRock B650M-C RAM: 32 GB Graphics card1: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (8 GB) Graphics card2: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (512 MB)Solved44KViews4likes43CommentsProblem with logging into the quest link app
I recently deleted the app because the link was lagging and downloaded it again. Now when I log in, it tells me this error, if I log in to my account, it doesn't take me to the login page, but to the page with changing the language. I reinstalled a clean Windows 5 times, checked with a VPN, nothing works.280Views0likes7CommentsQuest Link via cable low performance after update
I'm really upset with the performance of Quest software nowadays. I was playing Alyx, Metro and Beat Saber a while ago with zero issues (recommended settings and 600mb bitrate on debug). For some reason, after some updates, I'm getting unplayable stutters even on the Link menu while using the headset. Nothing changed on my hardware. I'm still playing all my flat games on 2k with high fps, so why they reduced my recommended settings and I'm getting really bad fps even on 0.7x?
