I've been using the Quest 3 for almost 8 months now, and before i used the Quest 2 without any problems via Air link/same router/same PC... This Saturday I'm playing Borderland 2 VR and on Monday the Quest 3 can no longer connect to the PC without any reason. If I want to activate Air Link via the Q3, my PC is displayed in the Air Link Menü as before, but the Start Button for Air Link remains gray and it says "not connected". I've already tried everything:Hard reseting the Headset, factory reset, router reset, PC & Quest 3 reset, Meta Quest Link restart via the beta menu in the PC Oculus APP, repair function of the Meta Quest APP, firewall completely switched off but nothing... Then I read that you should completely delete the Oculus software with all folders and reinstall it. I did that and lo and behold it worked, for exactly ONE day.... When I booted up my PC today and started Quest 3, the same problem... The PC is displayed but the start button to start Air Link remains gray and it is not connected. WHY? Do I have to completely uninstall the software every time, including all folders, then reinstall it in order to be able to play via Air link for exactly ONE day, which has worked for over 3 years before (Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest 3) without any problems? The connection works immediately using the original Meta Quest Link cable. Virtual Desktop APP works also... PLEASE Help!Solved97KViews9likes242CommentsQuest Link / Air Link suddenly stopped working today – session never starts
Device: Meta Quest 3 OS: Windows 11 GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5080 Connection: Air Link and USB Link (same behavior) Quest Link (both Air Link and USB Link) was working normally for months and was working earlier today. After ending a session and starting another one, Link stopped working completely. The headset is detected, the session initializes, but it freezes on the grey/purple Link screen and never reaches VR Home. Eventually the session drops or returns to the headset home. This is not a USB issue, not a network issue, and not a headset pairing issue. Important facts Same hardware and setup working for ~4 months Worked earlier today No hardware change No Windows reinstall No BIOS change No GPU change What I already tried Reinstalled Meta Quest Link multiple times Factory reset the Quest 3 Removed all Oculus / Meta registry entries Clean GPU driver reinstall with DDU Downgraded NVIDIA driver Tested both Air Link and USB Link Repair installation Restarted all Meta/Oculus services Reconfigured the headset from scratch None of the above resolved the issue. Observed behavior PC app detects the headset Session enters VR mode Streaming loop starts Grey / purple Link screen appears No image is ever presented Session freezes or terminates This indicates the session is created, but the compositor never presents a valid frame. Relevant log behavior From Service.log and LinkClient.log (same timestamps): VR session initializes Streaming starts Frames may briefly decode Compositor or transport fails shortly after Errors such as: Failed to read display driver information Graphics adapter state UNKNOWN Elevated Shared Memory failed to initialize Error -1002 Registry/config access failures after reinstall This points to a runtime or compositor state failure, not user configuration. Key point This did not degrade gradually. It stopped working suddenly today after previously working normally. That strongly suggests a silent Meta runtime update or a runtime state corruption that reinstall does not fully reset. Request to Meta Please confirm whether there was a Quest Link / runtime update today Clarify how to perform a true clean runtime reset (not just reinstall) Confirm if there is a known issue with Link compositor initialization Provide a way to roll back the Quest Link runtime At the moment, Quest Link is completely unusable despite supported hardware and exhaustive troubleshooting. I can provide full Service and LinkClient logs with timestamps if needed.Solved5KViews34likes88CommentsNvidia RTX 5090
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of purchasing a high-performance computer for some simulations to run on my Quest 3 via Link. I found a PC that would have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, but I couldn't find anything about compatibility in the official specifications. Can anyone help me? Thanks to anyone who can help me.25Views0likes0CommentsOculus Link Sync Issue with Quest 3: Video lag behind head movement
I've found a bug with the Oculus Link software using the official link cable and Quest 3. Every time I try to play some relatively demanding PCVR titles or enter some heavy worlds in VRChat, after the computer stutters for a few seconds for loading, the headset tracking and the streamed video feed go completely out of sync. The frame rate in the demanding scene after loading is high and smooth, but the video feed in the headset is a bit delayed relative to my head movement, resulting in an extremely nauseous experience. Even after I quit the demanding game and returned to Oculus Dash, the problem remains, and the video feed is still delayed. This bug can be reproduced consistently. Reconnecting the Oculus link briefly eliminates the problem, but the delay happens again when I try to load scenes. This makes the Oculus link unusable. Any solutions? Imma keep this as short as possible. I got a new 5GHz / 2.4GHz router so I could use Oculus Air Link without it stuttering every five seconds (my previous router only had 2.4GHz). When I try connect to my PC it just says "searching for device" but cannot find the PC. I have been troubleshooting and looking at forums and reddit posts for the past few days but none of the advices I have found so far have helped me. I found out that if both devices [the PC(in this case an old laptop I found) and the Quest 2] are connected to Wi-Fi, instead of the PC being connected to Ethernet, Air Link can find the Device and it works without problem. But my PC doesn't have a Wi-Fi adapter, and even if it did I do not want to use Wi-Fi on my PC for Air Link. Here's a list of everything I have done to try and fix this issue: Turn both devices off and on again Turn Air Link on both devices off and on again Uninstall the Quest app and install it again Turn off my Firewall Port forward the port 5669 Change some stuff in my registry scream at my pc for 10 minutes straight Disable DNS Proxy in my router's settings (Not exactly sure what it does but I thought maybe that could be the reason. It wasn't) Turn off all anti-virus programs (A.K.A. Windows Defender) Change from 80MHz to 20/40MHz in my router's settings (like I already said, the problem isn't the wi-fi but the ethernet) I'm really desperate for help. My Oculus Link cable also started to act up yesterday and replacing it would cost too much for me right now so I *really* need to fix Air Link. Thanks in advance!Solved176KViews9likes48CommentsMeta Quest 3 bitrate and latency for PCVR over Wi-Fi 6e, Air Link, and USB C
Can anyone provide this information? The only interest I have in the Quest 3, is if it can provide a better experience than the Quest 2 for PCVR. The Quest 3 has Wi-Fi 6e capability, but will it improve latency and video compression of the Quest 2? Right now the Quest 2 averages 47 to 57ms of latency, that and the video compression is unacceptable for people who use PCVR headsets with zero compression and 11ms of latency. I'm going to order one from Amazon, so I can return it if it can't improve on the Quest 2, but any help before hand would be appreciated 🙂75KViews4likes30CommentsStill can't figure out how to fix "Meta Quest Link No Sound" problem
I bought a Quest 3 last week and finally got Quest LInk working, but there is no sound, this is what I did trying to fix it. 1. Enroll PTC in both Quest Link and Meta Horizon and let them update and reboot 2. Make sure Hear Computer Audio in VR and Hear Audio from Computer are checked and not muted 3. Change the name of Oculus Virtual Audio Device to "Headphones" No luck at all, could you please be so kind telling me what have I missed? Much appreciated!6KViews0likes20Comments
