Oculus Rift S Screen stays black
I've been looking everywhere on the internet, tried every solution found on reddit and whatsoever, even tried to use software to bypass meta software... Looks like Facebook killed the Oculus Rift S. I cannot contact support because my serial is not recognized, it's ridiculous. I was so disappointed and sad when I saw Facebook taking over Oculus, and I was right, it's become awful, and now after the last update, the Rift S worked only once and now never anymore. Sensor, remotes and everything works, except that the screen stays black. Nothing changed and now i have a nice piece of technology that does not work This is extremely disrespectful, pushing people to buy new products by killing the old ones. It is unfair, as I paid money for a device that was working, and i really WISH that Facebook wouldn't have forced us to use their ridiculous software. Who's going to refund me for a 5 years old device that was working perfectly, always taken care of and put back in its box at every use, looking brand new, no damage to cables or anything. There MUST be a workaround to make it work again. Please, solve. I don't want to buy a standalone device. My computer did not get any update so it's all on facebook. I would write so many offensive words to their engineers and managers but it's pointless, hoping to get a reply and a fix that actually works, avoiding software like OculusKiller (which did not work anyway) or other payware. Im having this issue with Oculus Rift S, i can´t surpass sensor tracking check, after connecting usb 3.0 and Display Port cables. I can see a orange light on VR headset and later change to white light. I try: restart VR Headset, I reconnect it to different USB 3.0, I try beta updates, I clean connectors, sensors and cameras, I unplug and plug in all connectors from VR headset, I try to disable, enable, restarting service from oculus debug tool. I try to change to beta public versions on meta quest link, i uninstall Graphics card driver clean them and reinstall correctly lastest version from NVIDIA, I have camera privacy windows 10 allowing access all apps. Problem begin when i format my computer and put again Windows 10 Pro...Solved214Views0likes6CommentsRift S Sensor check fail - not resolved by common fixes
Hi, can't seem to find anything recent regarding this issue. Used my Rift S until about 6 months ago. Always worked fine. Did a clean win 11 install on my PC since then and recently decided to hook up the Rift S again. Now i can't get through setup because it fails the sensor check. I have tried every solution i was able to find online (powered USB hub, plugging in DP port after USB, Camera access, reinstalling Rift S drivers through Device manager, etc) and nothing has worked. Meta won't let me open a ticket with them because it doesn't recognize my serial number, I have a feeling the older hardware isnt listed . Some of the public tickets relating to those issues pop up during google searches but trying to open up those ends up on meta's support home page with an error saying the content either doesn't exist or is restricted to me. Most of what I could find online pertains to issues people where having when certain patches where released back in 2019 or 2020. Some of the fixes found online involved forcing a roll back on the firmware of the headset but i couldn't follow through because the app has changed since those years. They reported that their firmware was potentially corrupted during an automatic update and rolling back then re updating had fixed their otherwise "bricked" rift headset. It made sense to me since one of the coinciding factors here is that the software appears changed (oculus to metalink) between my last usage and i'm assuming it might have involved some firmware update. One thing i can mention is that plugging it in any of my PC ports will show up in device manager as Rift S without any errors but Device manager will also show a failed "Unknown USB device (Port Reset Failed)". I can unplug and delete the failed device and the Rift S device, plug the rift again and both will show again so they are clearly linked and not some other peripheral that happen to be connected to my PC. I plugged the rift in an external powered USB Hub, not the PCI E type, no failed devices show up in manager, only the Rift S but i still doesn't pass the sensor check. My cable is physically in perfect condition, I've reseated both ends a few times just to clear that up too. My entire VR experience was always seated (Elite Dangerous) so the cable has endured little stress from roomscale experiences (I don't have any room to even attempt more than a cockpit experience). Skipping setup and putting on the headset only shows 3 dots and my controllers. The controllers are unable to move and stacked together at the floor regardless of their physical location but fiddling with them will show fingers moving(is that normal since we skipped setup or is it experiencing a double issue) I've come across people reporting 3 dots as its own issue. After posting on Reddit, MetaStoreSupport suggested I post here to get some technical help from their team. Anyone can come up with something else or did it just brick itself randomly without being used ? For reference, it has about 200 hours of total use across 4 years which isn't much at all. Hi! I'm really hoping that I'll get the help I need the help I need and been searching for weeks now. Here's the issue: I installed Meta Quest Link in order to use my Oculus Rift S, followed every instructions needed and I've been able to make it work without any issues. The actual interface once with the headset worked properly, I was using it like normal until when I tried to launch the ''First Steps'' experience for the first time, I ended in a loading screen on the headset and this screen above this text appeared on my PC within the Meta Quest Link app, it seems like I'm stuck in an eternal loading screen. I tried to close it and restart the app, nothing. I've even uninstall the app to reinstall it after, still nothing, repaired the app with ''OculusSetup'', also nothing. I can't make it past this loading screen and be able to use my headset like normal. I don't know what to do, I tried everything in my power. PLEASE HELP ME!170Views0likes1CommentRift S owners who had the Displayport issue and FIXED it: How?
Picked up a Rift S recently and it refuses to work because of the well-known displayport issue. I've already submitted a ticket, but I thought I'd try to gather info from the community as to which fixes worked and which didn't. The specific issue I'm talking about is where after connecting the Rift S, both connections will seem OK for a few seconds, but then the Displayport disconnects and you're left with one of these status screens in the Oculus app: There's plenty of speculation as to the cause of this issue and no official word from Oculus as far as my research goes, the most likely culprits seem to be a power delivery issue where the headset is drawing too much power for the USB port to keep up (which, for some reason, causes an issue with the DP connection rather than the USB one), a bad cable, or a software/firmware issue caused by the 2019 update that brought Facebook integration to the Oculus app (this is, again, pure speculation, but there are a few articles that suggest these issues became more prevalent when that update dropped) The behavior is the same for every "plug-in procedure" as Oculus describes it: Connect the USB3 cable, wait 10 seconds (the LED between the lenses goes from off, to amber, to white, and stays there- nothing from the displays themselves), connect Displayport. Here's everything I've tried so far, collected from forums and other sources: Rebooting Reinstalling Oculus app Disabling power-management USB suspend options Disabling USB suspend on USB devices through Device Manager Updating video drivers Reinstalling video drivers Reinstalling video drivers using DDU and Safe Mode to fully wipe the previous driver Running C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers\oculus-driver.exe , which starts silently and doesn't pop up any kind of status window, which seems like a bad way to design software but whatever Connecting the headset through every available USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 port on my computer, using the proper "plug-in procedure" each time Connecting a single monitor through HDMI rather than Displayport or DVI Disconnecting all other non-essential USB devices Checking the seating of the connectors on both the computer side and headset side Checking the integrity of the cable, connectors, and headset, for kinks/frays/etc Unplugging audio devices from the headset Here's what I've seen online, but haven't been able to try yet: Using a dedicated, powered PCI-E USB 3.0 card, specifically the Inateck KT4001 as (apparently) recommended by oculus support Using the above card but with different drivers (the ones that come with it, the ones Windows installs automatically, whatever "Fresco" drivers are, etc) Using a powered USB 3.0 hub Replacing the cable Replacing the GPU Replacing the entire headset Replacing the entire computer The fixes I haven't been able to try seem hit-or-miss, though the PCI-E card seems to have worked for some. So here's my question to you, Rift S user who's fixed this issue: What did you do? What has worked out for you? If your headset worked and then suddenly didn't, do you remember around what time it happened or what you did around that time? If your answer is "I stopped using a cable extender" or "I stopped using a mini-DP to DP converter" or whatever else, that answer doesn't apply to this issue. This issue is specific to the Rift S in its intended setup, with no dongles or adapters involved. Once again i've already submitted a ticket and am working through the issue personally, this isn't me asking for solutions, it's me asking for experiences from people who had this issue and got it fixed.126KViews14likes57Comments
