Linux Support???
I'm really disappointed that I wasted $400 on a Rift S just for it to become a paper-weight since I don't want to use Windows on my computer. I have no clue why a multi-billion dollar company can't afford to support more than one operating system. I'm by no means expecting perfect support with no performance issues or hiccups on the less popular OS's, but having the headset be COMPLETELY UNUSABLE is not at all excusable. Just let me use the headset, and I'll do the optimizing myself. It's pretty embarrassing that Valve, a company valued at $8 billion, can comfortably support Linux and Windows almost flawlessly on their headsets, but Oculus, which is owned by Meta, a company valued at $572 billion can only support Windows. I understand the tone may seem harsh, but as someone who spent $400 dollars on the thing, I should have the right to use it on whatever computer I see fit even with less than desirable performance.19KViews25likes28CommentsCan I connect my Quest 3 controllers to my Quest 2?
I have Quest Pro Controllers that I have been using on my Quest 2 (Great!!) I purchased a Quest 3 and will be moving the Quest Pro Controllers to it. I would like/prefer to pair my Quest 3 Controllers to my Quest 2 Headset. Currently this is not an option to select in the App. Are there any plans to allow Quest 3 Controllers to work on a Quest 2 (similar to how the Pro Controllers work on Q2)? What would be the reason to not allow/support it? Thank You! MrTasselhof YouTube (MrTasselhof) Twitch (MrTasselhof)55KViews10likes19CommentsWhy is Oculus Developer Support so bad?
This isn't supposed to be a rant thread, but I am genuinely surprised about how bad the experience has been for us so far developing for the oculus platform in terms of available resources and support. On the end-user side, oculus/Meta seems to do a really good job in providing resources and quick support, but it seems to be quite the contrary on the developer side and it just puzzles me why this is the case. There are hardly any answers from oculus engineers on this forum, support tickets take forever and don't yield any actual help and SDK documentation is often seriously lacking. Given that Meta is so dedicated in pushing the Metaverse, I'm genuinely surprised about the way they treat developers that dedicate their time and resources building experiences for their platform, and thus I wonder whether they maybe internally have the stance that developing polished VR experiences is something rather difficult that they don't expect independent developers to come up with and thus focus their resources on providing direct support channels to the big studios instead? I'd be interested to hear about the experience of other devs on here and also what place you go to when you have problems or questions (because the official developer forum doesn't seem to yield any results for any non-trivial questions/problems)? Ever since our Quest 2s have started updating to v39, our applications are no longer able to find their device's serial numbers. This is breaking a lot of our work by preventing us to properly communicate with our backend. We previously used the following code in Unity to get the serial number, but this code now returns "unknown". AndroidJavaObject jo = new AndroidJavaObject("android.os.Build"); string serialNumber = jo.GetStatic<string>("SERIAL"); Is there anyone else experiencing this problem that might know a solution? It would be very helpful if Oculus Support could provide us with information if they know what might be causing this.Solved5.6KViews3likes8CommentsSupport for Touch, coming from the Vive
Hi, We've developed a room-scale VR experience for the Vive, made with Unity, which we're selling on Steam. We're now trying to port it to the Rift. I've two questions with regard to this. First, we're currently using OpenVR. It seems that it should support the Rift and Touch, and in fact it does tracking and most buttons out of the box, but we've not managed to get haptic rumble working, nor the Y,B, and Menu Button on the touch controllers. Does anyone have any info regarding this problem? Second, to all touch Unity (5.4) developers: Are you using Unity native integration, or are you selecting "Oculus" as the SDK, and using the Oculus Tools? Is there a demo project online which uses all of the Touch features, buttons, etc.? I seem to have missed it. Thanks! Hi guys, I bought my first Quest 3 today. When I turned it on, it started a software update but it gets stuck there — the device keeps turning on and off without completing the update, and I can’t get past that screen. I haven’t even set up my Meta Horizon account yet, and since I didn’t purchase my Quest 3 through the official Meta store, when I try to enter my device’s serial number on the website it gives me an error. I tried doing the sideload update (the only fix I found on the internet) by holding the volume down and power buttons on the Quest 3. But when I select my device in the browser, I get a message saying: “your device is not supported, please try reconnecting your devices.” Weird cause both my PC and Chrome are detecting it as Quest 3. I also tried disabling adblock, deleting caché and cookies, incognito mode, other browsers, other PCs, other cables, connecting it on different times, etc. There is not a single thing I haven't tried. (Every single one of these attempts were done while having 50% battery. There’s nothing else I can do, literally — I’ve already tried factory reset several times as well. Do I need to return my device? I'm submitting this post so support can help me. I'm quite desperate, I don't see my issue anywhere on google and I spoke to support via Whatsapp and everything they told me to try, I already had.3.8KViews2likes11Commentsoculus verification not working.
I am trying to verify my developer account because it will be required soon and since I don't have a verified business I wanted to do admin verification. when I tried to verify though I accedently closed the page and now it is under review but I think I broke it because there's nothing to review and I don't know if it will be reviewed and I won't be able to verify it.Solved6.9KViews2likes20CommentsNo Reply from Oculus Support (2 months)
Hi, my name is Ariel. I have been having issues trying to contact the Oculus Support Team. I have created two tickets in which they both got a response saying they were assigned to Oculus Submissions Team. It's been 2 months already and I haven’t received a response back. If anyone has some advice that would be great - I am still not sure if it’s an issue on my end. I appreciate the help!1.1KViews1like0Comments
