Catastrophic Errors using Quest 3s, including only getting passthrough with no usable UI
I've had my Meta Quest 3s for over a year, and it's worked mostly without major issue. However, while initially using the headset without issue today, I've run into issues over the past couple of hours of experiencing a catastrophic error (or series of errors) meaning that the headset is largely unusable. Upon first encountering the error (being unable to see files on my network) I reset my headset, as after trying other fixes, that has typically solved issues in the past. It hasn't here. It booted up to a mostly broken passthrough screen (of it being heavily lagged, and no UI coming up at all. Somehow, through all the steps described below, it's improved to the point that the passthrough screen is no longer lagged in its display, and i get a UI (most of the time), but the headset is still largely unusable, as stated. Most of the time it simply boots to passthrough with no usable UI after giving a bunch of errors including saying System UX, Files, Oculus Assistant Shop, Chats, Help & Tips have stopped. Sometimes it will give only some of those "stop" errors. Most of the time I get no UI at all, sometimes it will bring up a UI, but no downloaded app will launch, or it will start to launch and then immediately fail. SOME apps that are built into the headset (like the browser or First Encounters) seem to work. Worlds (not that I ever used it) states that it's updating and never does. I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall downloaded apps that I use, and it will just become queued and never install. On the Meta Horizons app, sees that the headset and controllers are there, but it states the headset is connecting, but never does. Somehow, I did get it to a point where it said it was connected once, but upon using that opportunity to disconnect the wifi through the horizons app to try to reconnect it, upon reconnecting to wifi through my phone's settings, the horizon app has gone back to never showing that the headset is connected ever again--just eternally in the "headset connecting" status. I have tried: hard resetting the headset, resetting my modem/router and disconnecting my connection through the Meta Horizons app by inputting an incorrect password to hopefully sever any connection the headset has with the WIFI. I did a number of google searches and found a reddit page (that i'm not allowed to link, apparently) that seems to describe the bug i'm experiencing and I went through all the steps it describes to solve it but it hasn't helped. I'd like to avoid trying a factory reset of the headset both because of the general headache/time involved with any factory reset, and the specific message contained in that reddit post that according to others, a factory reset doesn't solve the issue (although i'm at a loss as to why it wouldn't, if it seems to fundamentally be a software issue, somewhere). Thank you in advance for both reading this novel, and any assistance you can provide.58Views0likes1CommentCan`t connect Meta quest 2 AIR LINK

Problem: I accidentally set a password (e.g., "Meta Quest") using the hidden Android settings on my Meta Quest 3. After that, the headset asked for a PIN, not a password -- and there was no way to type letters. It looked like a factory reset was the only way out. Solution (No Factory Reset!): You can unlock your Quest and reset the passcode using the Meta Quest mobile app, even if the headset is stuck at the PIN screen. Step-by-Step: 1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone (Android or iPhone). 2. Make sure the app is connected to your locked Quest headset. 3. Tap Menu > Devices > Headset Settings. 4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Passcode. 5. The app will prompt you to enter a PIN -- but it only shows a number pad, so you can't type your password here... yet. Workaround: 6. In another app on your phone (like Chrome, Notes, etc.), type your actual password -- for example: Meta Quest 7. Copy the password to your clipboard. 8. Go back to the Meta Quest app's PIN entry screen. 9. Paste your full password into the PIN textbox (yes, even though it shows a number pad). 10. Hit Enter -- your Quest will immediately unlock, and you can now set a proper 4-digit PIN. 100 percent working on Meta Quest 3. No factory reset needed. No debug mode. No PC. Just the Meta app plus this trick. Hope this helps others!2.5KViews1like5CommentsUnknown Sources missing on new profile in Quest 3S after V81 PTC Update (Developer Mode Enabled)
Hi, I need help with an issue on my Meta Quest 3S. There are three profiles on the headset: 1. Owner (primary profile) 2. Secondary profile 3. My new profile (my own Meta account) Unknown Sources shows correctly on the owner and secondary profiles. But on my new profile, the Unknown Sources tab does not appear at all in the App Library. This issue started after updating to V81 PTC. Steps I already tried: - Created a new Meta account using Gmail - Logged into the Meta Horizon app with the same account - Joined / created a Developer Organization - Developer Mode is enabled in the Meta Horizon / Meta Link app - Restarted the headset multiple times - Device owner confirmed Developer Mode is still On I am wondering if this is a known bug on V81 PTC for additional profiles on Quest 3S. Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!439Views0likes1CommentMeta quest 3s has no audio when entering link
My oculus quest 3s has worked without problems for over 3 months, but i got back from work and suddenly i have no audio in link trough cable its showing in the device manager and the sound manager but the green meter that shows the volume its stuck on the middle things i have tried * Restarting my PC and headset * Factory resetting my headset * Uninstalling and installing the meta quest app on pc * Killing the OVRservices on task manager * Changing the sound output to oculus headset for some reason when i turn on the spatial sound the audio of the headset (as in the games, the sound of when you interact with something inside and the hum of the white void) reproduces in my pc speakers but nothing on the speakers of the headset please if anyone has a clue or any idea i will appreciate it159Views0likes2CommentsMeta Quest 3S will not charge
Hi, I have seen other posts regarding this issue and I have tried the Power button and volume down button for 30s+, nothing happens. I have tried contacting support, but even though in the Meta Horizons app, the MetaQuest3S shows up in my devices, it does not in the browser, and when I give the ChatBot my SN, it says it cannot be verified, and I did triple check, and I checked the SN in the app on the device and am using that same one. So, since i purchased it from BestBuy in June and not through MetaStore, the bot is blocking me from contacting support, and the device will not sync between the app and the website. I have tried 5, known/verified working chargers, and nothing happens. I left it charging for 48 hours to be completely sure, and nothing. No LEDs, no sound, nothing. What am I supposed to do if I can't get in contact with support?173Views0likes7CommentsCaricamento infinito durante connessione Quest Link al PC con Quest Link
Been playing Into the Radius 2, and I've been having to play via the (Meta) link cable as using a wireless connection is another problem in of itself. I'll be playing the game and without warning I'll just get the most ridiculous screen tearing, I'm talking horizontal, pixelated square lines that fluctuate and change position, cutting off vision while straining my eyes. When its really bad a whole portion of the screen will become pixelated, imagine the kinda lines you got on the old block TVs from back in the day, but horizontal. It stops the moment I stop streaming, which is fine if I want to play a game natively on the Oculus, but the vast majority of my games are on Steam, and so it's basically making the headset useless for me, as I can't actually play any of the games I want. I've checked the cable, it's absolutely fine and a cable test told me it's working as it should, my PC is more than capable of running these games (and was doing so without issue until the last couple days), going into passthrough and back does not work, and all my drivers and app versions are all up to date. At this point I feel like I have tried every single thing I can, and I have trawled through so many forums and websites but nothing has worked.523Views1like5CommentsAaaargh!!! Another Black Screen!
WTF is up with these things? I bought a Quest 3 in December 2024. I'm not a heavy user. The most I do is watch the occasional movie or use Supernatural for fitness about three times a week. I've had to RMA the one I originally bought because of the "Unable to find location" error. They sent me a refurb and, after about two weeks, it went black screen after an update. RMA'd that one and got another. That one was working fine. Until today... I turned it on ready to get some exercise and?... ANOTHER FREAKING BLACK SCREEN!!! Everything was fine two days ago. No weirdness that would signal things about to go wrong. Just dead. Tried factory reset, sideboard update, blah, blah, blah. Still dead! Needless to say, I'm royally pissed off right now. How could Meta sell such a colossal piece of 💩! I dread what's going to happen when my warranty expires. I feel like this was a huge waste of $500. And I'm super disappointed. I really like playing games and watching movies in VR. But it is so not worth dropping another $500. I guess I'm here more to vent than anything. I mean, if someone has a solution, that would be great. I'm just so tired of freaking RMA'ing this garbage device.Solved219Views0likes3Comments
