How to revert to the previous interface?
After rebooting, suddenly my headset started speaking on its own and the menu became disgusting, inconvenient. I bought a certain item knowing what it was, but in the end it changed without my consent. It seemed like I was finally starting to get out of depression, but here, too, everything had to be ruined for me. That Activision does not want to admit its mistakes and does not offer solutions (it just banned my accounts and my friends', simply because Windows is installed on ReFS). This is similar harassment of the user here.73Views0likes3CommentsMeta Quest 3's systematically breaking shortly after 1 year warranty expires
I hope no one else experience's this. I have had my Meta Quest 3 for 1.5 years. It is broken due to a firmware and hardware issue. I can see the start up logo, then black and nothing can be done. I tried every step, talked to support, searched the internet to find this is a HUGE problem with many users. And the worst part? Meta's solution was to offer me $85 off a new device. So not only did I orginally spend $600+ for the device originally, but the "solution" to a device breaking not due to me but due to it's hardware and software, is to spend $500+ on a new device that can't be guaranteed won't break again six months after the warranty expires. When the hardware and software is having a problem like this, it needs to be addressed, not just swept under the rug. I will not be buying another, and will be warning people not to invest in this device as it is simply not worth the price for the time you get on it before it breaks and Meta pretty much tells you you're **bleep** out of luck.54Views0likes2CommentsYou are making things the worst!
Where to start... I had v79 going for a long time, until my Virtual Desktop Streamer decided to push an update and rendered my Quest 3's VD useless, forcing me to update. Got v85, and quite a few issues with it (bugging UI, elements not loading, and so on). After a couple months (4-6 ish), decided to check for VD updates, as features were not stable as they should (thanks for messing everything up in the place, ggodin). Checked for the version, had an update, etc. Noticed, that the Quest 3 system pointed out (something which I honestly dislike extremely) "Update 2.01" with a due-date to it, the typical "if you don't update now, we will update it regardless of your choice in a few weeks!", thanks Meta. Absolute consumer friendly behavior, especially in Europe. Updated the system, because why postpone it, if it is going to mess you up anyways. and the problems began. Glitching UI elements on the old UI. Glitching UI in VD. Brightness flickering on screen while in VR games. Atrocious update. MetaStoreSupport on Reddit suggested re-updating the OS via webseite (https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/software_update/ ) which simply does not work at all. Downloading seems to work fine, installing will always fail, regardless of browser (edge, chrome, brave, vivaldi), with their extensions (adblocker on/off, js-blocking on/off), doesn't matter which USB port, it will always fail (fix your stuff, Meta!) Since I was fed up by the sheer incompetence showing UX bugs on v201, I've joined the PTC the first time, and oh boy ... it got even worse! Sidenote: "Unchecking PTC will factory reset the headset and will retrieve stable/public version of OS" is simply a lie! Remove that line from your Meta App! I am still stuck to v203, it does not do any good lying to your customers! v203 started off harshly bad. UI elements not reacting, not loading, bugging, softlocking UI, rebooting UI without rebooting the headset (UI simply crashes), and that was not everything. VD was also suffering a lot by this. I was not able to use my dedicated router anymore, as I was using it for over 2 years now! Router 1 is plugged into my MB's LAN Port, and has WAN access. Router 2 is plugged into my LAN adapter, without any WAN - local router, just for VR. Usual behavior, before v203, accessing my PC via VD: Start headset, start Router 2, login into the 6GHz system, start VD, get it going. v203 (old UI, from 5 days ago, until yesterday...) behavior: Login into my 2.4GHz Router (Router 1), start VD, wait for it to connect to my PC, receive the Token that the app is not pirated *ugh* ... switch over to my Router 2, start VD again, get it going, until I shut down my headset, to re-repeat the entire stupid process. v203 (new UI): none of these work anymore, dedicated router + VD is useless. Thanks. I am still able to connect to my PC using SteamLink and ALVR. Whatever you guys did with your OS, and ggodin with its Virtual Desktop software - change it/revert it, I don't care. If this is not going to be solved within 2 weeks, I want a refund of this product, as I am not going to deal with this nonsense anymore. I had 3 days of troubleshooting to understand the mess you guys fabricated there, and now out of a sudden, the new UI appears (which is btw the most anti-UI I've ever seen in my entire life, it is so clunky and user unfriendly ... **bleep**), and nothing works anymore. I am tired of this nonsense. Please treat this as a formal notice. I expect the issue to be resolved within, as noted before, 14 days from receipt of this message. If no satisfactory solution is provided within this timeframe (e.g. refund), I will consider pursuing my rights under EU consumer protection law, including seeking legal remedies.83Views2likes3Commentsv2.3 and still no navigator UI?? what gives?
Since the navigator ui was introduced I liked it a lot. I used it while on the PTC and was 100% relived that i didn't have to have the ugly grey bar with limited slots for apps i actually use just hanging there all the time. Then an update (which was more a downgrade) removed it and brought the old universal menu back which sucked. Then i hear the navigator is replacing the universal menu permanently - Awesome! except its been several months and 3 version updates since then and my quest is STILL using the ugly menu that is useless to me because i cant put more than one app i actually use on it and its just an eye sore when i using 2d apps. WHY? i get your goofy rollout process but its been months and months and updates keep coming but somehow not updating the UI? theres not even an option to choose? what is this bs?191Views1like5CommentsFormal Complaint – Repeated Quest 3 Replacement and Warranty Concern
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the repeated issues with my Quest 3. Less than a year after purchasing it, I now have to ship it back for replacement for the second time. This is very concerning and raises serious questions about the device’s reliability and quality control. When I asked about extending the warranty, the support agent informed me that only a 3-month warranty applies after receiving a replacement. Given the recurring issues, this period is clearly insufficient. I requested an exception or alternative solution but was told that was not possible and that I should submit a formal complaint. I am very disappointed with this experience. At a minimum, I would expect a longer warranty period following multiple replacements, or an alternative resolution that restores confidence in the product’s quality. I would appreciate your review of my case and a response outlining what steps can be taken to ensure I have a reliable, lasting device.400Views0likes20CommentsPersistent Link App Installation Failure
I'm facing a persistent failure to install the Oculus PC Software (Meta Horizon Link App) for my Oculus Rift S device, which is essential for the device to function at all. The software got corrupted and was unresponsive no matter the method I tried, a couple of days beforehand. Any repair achieved nothing, therefore I used its official uninstaller as well as Revo Uninstaller Pro to erase every remnant of it from my device. The installer (Setup.exe) however, consistently terminates itself during the very end of its installation process, after it has downloaded all of the necessary cached files. I tried downloading it into a variety of different drivers as well as have performed multiple complete manual removals of each plausible file system and registry artifact of the Oculus Software within my system; C:\Program Files\, C:\ProgramData\, C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\, C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Temp\. C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\, Driver, Software and Hardware registry key locations, such as : HKLM\SOFTWARE\, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\, HKCU\Software\, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WUDF\Services\, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\DISPLAY, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\SWD, HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\, but the installer continues to silently fail right at the end of its installation procedure regardless. i bought my quest 3, let me do what i want with it. this also limits our ability to repair our own devices and even more so by blocking the disabling the com.oculus.updater. so your happy pushing out faulty updates (which the oculus team have admitted doing) with no way to go back if things screw up, then wait for weeks to get it fixed, wasting time, money and energy transporting the headset back and forth via delivery when in reality all that couldve been done was allow bootloader unlocking and restoring the device to factory default settings. its honestly insulting to me as someone whos worked on devices for years, to see practices like this still in place and not being able to repair the device i bought. i want to come back in 10-20 years and actually be able to use it or have the tools at my disposal to fix it if needed. i cannot for the life of me reccomend these devices to any of my customers until this has been rectified. ive advised them to go with samsung or wait until the valve deckard is released. this also will be my final headset from meta if this cant get resolved586Views0likes3Comments
