Quest 3s wont turn on, No LEDS, No Boot menu
My headset is not even a week old, its worked fine up until 4 hours ago. I stopped using the headset at 31% battery, on the meta horizon app it states this is the battery as well and was synced 4 hours ago. Since then its been completely bricked. The LED light wont indicate if its charging , the screens dont work at all. And now ive left the glorfied paper weight to charge for more than 2 hours using the cable and adapter the headset came with, nothing. Some other things to note, -Cant access boot menu after holding the volume down and power for over one minute multiple times -tried and tested multiple charging cables, doesn't work -I use no accessories for the headset -LED does not work -Cant be detected on my PC on the meta app Would appreciate any advice on the matter. Thank you!22Views0likes2CommentsMost recent update bricked my quest 3
Used my headset a few weeks ago, everything was fine. Turned it on today, had an update. Did the update, now stuck on meta logo spinning, then straight to black backlit screen. Restarting does nothing, power and volume down to boot menu doesn't change anything. Thanks for deliberately and maliciously breaking my property, meta. I really appreciate it.213Views0likes4CommentsQuest 3s is hard bricked
My son's Quest 3s appears to be hard bricked. No power, no display, no LED when plugged in, no response to any buttons. This occured after his storage reached maximum capacity. For awhile I could power on the device but it would only display pass through images and I could not get to the main menu. Is there anything we can do or are we out of luck? Thanks for any advice or support.38Views0likes1CommentQuest 3 stuck and unable to complete boot
My Quest 3 was working fine until a couple of days ago and I use it almost daily. On trying to turn it on yesterday I am now stuck in with the following: I see a stack Meta Horizon OS logo for a couple of seconds I see the chip icon with arrow and a green progress bar which completes I see an animated spinning Meta Horizon OS logo for maybe 30-60 seconds The screens go black, they are still powered on but not showing anything. It never gets any further than that. I have tried the following, none of them changes anything: Doing a hard reboot Doing a factory reset Doing a sideload of the most recent v79 update via USB, this downloads and installs fine giving no errors but the issue is still there afterwards. I see one other thread in this forum recently which sounds like the same issue but there was no responses on that one https://communityforums.atmeta.com/discussions/OtherTroubleshooting/most-recent-update-bricked-my-quest-3/1343071 At this point I can't think of anything else to try other than to go through a warranty process, but I'd welcome anything else to try first.169Views2likes4Commentsstuck at boot loop after update v79 quest 2
Was unlucky to update quest 2 to v79 (standard), it messed up usb connectivity on all my cables took me a while to read about update being at fault and not cables or usb-c port, thought beta might allready have a fix for it, activated beta updates via phone, updated to v79.130 something i believe and got stuck at boot menu or "usb update mod" no options work aside from "device info" and "power off", upon choosing any other option screen goes dark for a sec then meta logo without animation and im back to bootload menu (usb update mod) have a strong suspicion that update bricked it247Views0likes6CommentsQuest 2 bricked by firmware update
Hi all, Unfortunately like many others I have a Quest 2 that has been bricked by a firmware update. Meta support have said it's out of warranty and have offered me a refurbished replacement Quest 2 for = £180 (242 USD) which comes with only a 90 day warranty. I understand it's now out of warranty but it's not like this was caused by a fault of our own doing. It has been very well looked after. This Quest 2 was in storage for quite some time since last being used. The symptoms match exactly what others have stated under this issue. I have confirmed it's charging all ok via a USB C power meter. It no longer powers on or shows any lights. When connected to a PC, it is recognised in Device Manager as qusb_bulk_cid:0412, which indicates the device is in Qualcomm's low-level emergency recovery mode, but Meta have not released the software required to recover it pubically. Some news articles on the issue suggest that Meta were replacing or fixing devices out of warranty but it seems that this is no longer the case? https://communityforums.atmeta.com/discussions/OtherTroubleshooting/meta-quest-2-completely-bricked-after-initial-software-update/1275188 https://www.roadtovr.com/meta-free-quest-3s-replacement-bricked/ https://mixed-news.com/en/cause-of-bricked-quest-headsets/ I think the suggested price for a refurbished replacement of a now discontinued headset is way too expensive, especially with only a 90 day warranty. It's not sold any longer. The stated retail price of 299 USD was correct when it was on sale before, when new and before the 3S was released. What's to say this issue won't happen again in a future update or for the Quest 3 or 3S? I understand it's older now, but it's in perfect condition and the only issue is with the software, caused by a Meta update - now it's a useless paperweight and not even from my own doing. It sure puts you off buying a new headset. What are your thoughts?160Views0likes4CommentsOriginal Meta Quest Unable to get past 1/2 of Update after Factory Reset.
Hi. I recieved an original Meta Quest (made in 2020) via secondhand. I updated it to the recent verison before I had to factory reset it. After a factory reset I cannot get past the update part of the beginning steps of setup. It just says "Update 1 of 2 complete. Continue in the Meta Quest app." I know it wants me to watch a safety video but it gets stuck on this part specifically. Ive factory reset it three times now in hopes of getting unstuck but to no avail. After some research I've learned im not the only person with this problem and one of the few ways to get past this issue is by having an iPad for some reason that devices verison of the meta horizon app isnt broken. I dunno what to do, im starting to consider this thing is bricked now and theres no other use for it if Meta refuses to acknowledge a problem thats been going on for over a year.Solved113Views0likes4CommentsQuest bricked after auto update
My quest 3 was working perfectly fine yesterday. Then I wanted to turn it on 1 hour later (yesterday) but after booting up, I got no image (but when I slide the ipd adjuster, it was appearing on the screen). Then I closed it and I wanted to check the quest today. As soon as I open my quest, it started to update (my auto update are off except critical system updates) and it turned on after updating but i got nothing on the screen and controller weren't connected and the indicator light wasn't on. But I could tell that the screens were on. I waited like 6 hours but nothing. Then I tried to force close it but instead of closing, it started to update again and same thing happened after update.34Views0likes0CommentsUnable to use Oculus Quest after factory reset.
Recently came back to my Oculus Quest after a long period of not using it and did a factory reset after it refused to let me log into my account. After resetting the device I am unable to clear the setup and therefore can not use my device AT ALL. I first tried using the Meta Horizon app on my phone. This got stuck at the health and safety screen and the setup would not progress any longer. I did some research and saw people recommending to install an older version of the app and clear the setup that way. I tried installing it on my phone (unsupported for my device), then installed it on my older phone but it wouldn't let me log into the app because the app version isn't supported. I then tried creating an Oculus Developer account and using the meta horizon developer hub to clear the setup from my laptop. This got partway through the setup and then got stuck trying to reconnect to the device for multiple hours. As of now my device is still a complete brick and I am at a loss as to how to continue. Any recommendations or work-arounds appreciated.Solved185Views0likes3CommentsMy charging port is disabled and my quest 3 is dead
Subject: Meta Quest 3 Fully Dead — Charging Port Disabled Due to False Liquid/Debris Detection Hi all, hoping someone can help me out. My Quest 3 is completely dead—no lights, no display, nothing. It won't charge at all, and I’m pretty sure the USB-C port is locked out because I got a “liquid or debris detected” alert. The thing is, there’s no liquid damage or debris whatsoever. It feels like a false detection, but now I have no way to power it on or bypass the lock. I’ve tried: Inspecting the charging port — it looks spotless. Multiple cables and charging bricks — no response. Letting it sit powered off for hours — no change. It's basically bricked unless there's a way to disable that lock or jump-start the charge. Has anyone seen this before or found a workaround? Super stuck here. Thanks a ton, if you can point me in the right direction!153Views0likes7Comments
