Stereoscopic 3D Casting Support for 3D TVs/Monitors
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my Meta Quest 3, especially the ability to cast my VR experiences to a TV to share with others. However, I believe adding stereoscopic 3D casting (Side-by-Side or Top-Bottom) would greatly enhance the shared viewing experience for 3D-capable TVs and monitors. This feature would allow viewers to enjoy VR content in 3D, offering a deeper and more immersive experience for games, videos, and other applications that utilize depth. The technical feasibility seems within reach for the following reasons: No significant bandwidth impact: Stereoscopic 3D casting would simply involve reducing the resolution in the horizontal or vertical direction (depending on the 3D format), without adding much overhead in terms of network bandwidth. TV support isn’t a major concern: Even on non-3D TVs, Side-by-Side (SBS) or Top-Bottom (TB) 3D content is still viewable, albeit without the 3D effect. This means the feature could be available universally without causing issues for users with regular TVs. Architecture: The key challenge lies in introducing an additional casting option alongside the existing 2D output. This would require some UI/UX updates to allow users to select between casting in 2D or stereoscopic 3D. However, the stereoscopic 3D information is already being rendered in VR, so leveraging that for casting should be achievable. I believe this would be a valuable addition to the Quest experience, particularly for users who own 3D displays and want to share VR content in a more immersive way, though the side by side videos could also be enjoyed from within the headset, or those of your friends!551Views0likes0CommentsCasting from multiple Quest 3 devices (on the same account) to different phones or PC/screens
Hi everyone, I have 3 "Quest 3" devices all connected to the same account. Is there a way to cast each of these devices to 3 separate phones or PCs at the same time? I’m looking to mirror the gameplay of all three headsets onto different devices simultaneously, but I’m not sure if that’s possible with them being on the same account. Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!488Views0likes0CommentsSpectator Mode for Quest2
Accidently posted in the Comunity Forums by accident before hopefully someone in here might know a bit more. Looking for any documentation on how to implement the spectator mode shown recently at a oculus event. Basically the feature is a separate camera casting to a phone or compatible device, that isn't what the user in the headset is seeing. I work in Unity so anything specific to that would be especially useful but I'll take anything at this point, I can't seem to find anything other then press releases.7KViews5likes10CommentsIs there a way to enable screen recording for reprojected apps?
We are doing testing on porting an Android TV app to the Quest and running it in reprojected mode (leanback). When we load the APK to the device and start it there, screen recording and casting are disabled. Hovering the sharing options gives the message "The developer has disabled screen recording for this app", however, this is nothing we have done intentionally. It is as if the Android layout flag FLAG_SECURE is set, but it isn't. This seems to be the default behavior, as I've tried with other non-Quest Android apps with the same result. Any help here would be valuable.899Views0likes1CommentMeta Quest 2 No longer working with my Vizio Quantum 4K TV.
We have 2 Oculust Quest 2 (Meta Quest 2) devices that streamed to our Vizio TV just fine until a few months ago. Then they both stopped. From what I can tell this was a conscious decision from Meta to stop supporting them. I purchased a Chrome cast device, but the shakiness was terrible. My TV is wired to a GB network. I wish Meta would fix this issue with Vizio TVs. I don't understand why the would stop support casting all of a sudden. This is rewally frustrating. I contacted Vizio and their support technicians had no clue. They said they just didn't support Oculus at this time. I've tried contacting Menta but not received a response. I just attempt to cast, the casting dialog appears on my Vizio TV and then the Quest 2 says there was an error casting to the TV. It works fine on multiple phones and computers in our house. All devices are on the same network. Very frustrating.639Views0likes0Commentsspectator mode for quest 2 not working
The feature is supposed to provide a 3rd person camera that is controllable on the device that is being casted to but the actual implementation does not correctly set the camera view in the app that is being casted to - instead of modifying the position of the 3rd person camera viewed in the oculus app, the example modifies the position of a gameobject that has a quad displaying a virtual camera. that quad display is modified correctly, but the texture that drives the quad is not sent to the oculus app. the touch screen features of the oculus app to change the view of the spectator 3rd person camera do not work (tried android, iOS and web, all latest versions)2.1KViews1like2CommentsCasting from Q2 to phone on secondary account?
My partner is the Admin/primary account on the Quest 2. He can connect his phone on the app and cast just fine, so I can watch him play from his phone. But if I want to play on my account, the secondary, he can’t watch me play. We can’t cast via my account on either of our phones. Both my phone and the oculus can find each other on Bluetooth but it may not fully connect. The 5-digit code to connect was found in the About tab on the admin account, but entering this code on my account on my phone is only intended to cast the oculus to his phone on his account. From what I gather from troubleshooting, only the admin account can cast. We would love to suggest to make a way for the admin to give permission to allow the secondary account to cast so players can take turns watching each other play and we can guide each other learning to use game features.3.3KViews6likes3CommentsStream Quest 2 through local network without Internet.
Need to design a way to stream what you are playing without the internet. I think its really un efficient to only be able to stream to a pc via the webbrowser. Can a function be added to the Oculus Desktop software to stream there on the local network.5.6KViews0likes2Comments
