Quest 3 Backlight Flickering When Charging Off with Original Charger - Persistent Bug Since v74
The latest Quest 3 system has a backlight flickering issue when charging with the original charger while the device is powered off. This issue was first reported on forums after the v74 system update. After investigation, it was found that first, the issue does not occur when using non-original chargers. Second, the flickering frequency decreases as the battery level increases: it flickers about every 30 seconds when the battery is around 20-40%, increases to about every minute when the battery is 60-70%, and most likely stops completely when the battery is above 90%. It is preliminarily judged that this issue may be a system-level bug where the charging protocol negotiation with the original charger accidentally triggers the screen backlight controller. The temporary solution provided by customer service is to charge the device in sleep mode by short-pressing the power button, which has been tested and indeed no longer causes the issue. They explained that the system has more stable backlight control in sleep mode. However, after my inquiries and searches across the internet, very few people have reported this issue. Is this a hardware batch difference problem? Secondly, I hope that official personnel will pay attention to this issue and fix this system problem as soon as possible.38Views0likes5CommentsQuest 3s won't charge unless powered Off
I have spent the past few months noticing that my Quest 3s will not charge unless the Quest 3s is powered off. I finally decided to contact Meta Support and dealt with one of the rudest Customer Service Representatives I have ever had the dishonor of dealing with. I tried a Software Update, Factory Reset, Boot load, etc. I tried every option from Forums or other Social Media locations. The issue started after a Firmware Update after my 1 Year Warranty expired. So, naturally I bring this to this person's attention and instead, I get told that I can purchase a replacement. I ask to have my ticket escalated, but I'm told that can't be done because it isn't an issue worth escalating. So, an issue brought on by a Meta update can't be fixed because it's outside of my warranty and the ticket can't be escalated? Has anyone else dealt with your Quest not charging unless powered off? If so, how were you able to fix, if you could? Thanks everyone,60Views0likes5CommentsMeta Quest 3 Black Screen After Logo and Firmware Arrow
Many Meta Quest 3 owners are experiencing the same serious issue after what appears to be a faulty firmware update. The headset starts normally, shows the Meta logo, then displays the down-arrow firmware symbol as if it’s updating. After that, the screen goes completely black and never turns back on. People have already tried every official fix that Meta recommends: Rebooting the headset. Performing a full hard reset using the power and volume buttons. Installing the manual firmware update through the Meta update tool on a computer. Even after completing all of these steps successfully, the headset remains unusable. The issue clearly points to a defective firmware update or a corrupted boot process caused by the update itself, not user error or damage. Some customers have received replacements, while others have been denied support because their device is out of warranty. That inconsistency is unacceptable. A firmware defect that originates from Meta should not depend on warranty status. This needs to be recognized as a widespread product issue. Meta should take responsibility, publicly acknowledge the problem, and provide free repairs or replacements to all affected customers. Everyone affected should post here and share: When the problem started and what update version it followed. Any videos or photos showing the black screen sequence. What Meta Support said or offered in response. If enough reports are collected, this could draw the attention of consumer protection agencies, the media, or legal firms willing to pursue a class action. The goal is not to complain, but to get a fair solution for everyone who has been left with a bricked headset due to a faulty update. This issue is not isolated. It’s widespread, and it needs to be addressed now.1.5KViews5likes11CommentsMeta Quest 3 won't turn on, no charging indicator
Hello, I have the following problem with a Meta Quest 3 headset : it simply won't turn on or respond to anything. The screen is black (turned off, no light), and no charging indicator light up on it no matter what I do. It also hasn't emitted a single sound. When the charging cable is plugged on the side (with the original charger), no light turns on, and only a very very faint electronic sizzling sound can be heard from the USB-C port. When I connect the charged Elite strap with battery to the headset, the charging light of the extended battery briefly turns orange for a second, then turns off. And the same small sizzling sound can be heard from the USB-C port on the side. What I have tried : - Charging for 2h the headset through the battery extension and trying again. No response. - Charging overnight the headset directly and trying again (despite there being no light indicator on at all). No response. - Pressing the Power button for 30 s. No response. - Pressing both Power button and Volume down button for 30s. No response. - Checking the detection sensor behind the (original) cover, nothing abnormal. Essentially, it seems bricked, and for the moment I have no idea what might have had caused it. What can be done? Thanks in advance.1.3KViews1like21CommentsMeta Quest 2 Issues
I'm having issues with my Meta Quest 2 not powering on, when plugged in the device only pulls power when the power button is held, and still then the light on the side simply flashes red. I haven't used the device in about 5+ months so I am assuming the battery is completely dead. After doing some research and trying all publicly available methods of fixing the issue, I have come to the conclusion I might need to contact support however I am now having issues doing that as when I attempt to enter my serial number (which is written both in the controllers and the side of the headset) it simply rejects it and says that product isn't found, I have attached images showing this. I am also 100% sure I am entering it correctly as I have even attempted to scan the QR code on the device and copy the text directly from that. I am unable to access the email linked to the device so I am now wondering if I am just left with an expensive paperweight. Any help would be appreciated with this as It's becoming increasingly annoying especially when I am completely unable to contact support. Thanks in Advance!139Views0likes5CommentsMETA HORIZON!!!!
META, please add anti-theft protection and device location search, as devices are often stolen and we can't find them ourselves. And you, a giant company, can't ensure the security of your device. My glasses were stolen. My account is on it, and I can see when it's online. I can't do anything about it, except offer a reset. It would be better if you could help me find its location!148Views1like14CommentsRMA woes
I want to be transparent, Meta are aware of this issue and are "investigating" but I wanted to post here for visibility. I'd also like to state this might not all be Meta's fault. Also, long post, sorry... 6 days ago, after the v85 update, I plugged my Q3 headset in to charge, original adapter, original cable in the wall socket. No charging light, so I popped the headset on to see if the battery icon was showing the symbol for charging, it wasn't. I grabbed the end of the usb cable to unplug it and it burnt my finger and thumb. On further investigation, the usb socket on the headset (middle rectangle with pins) was melted. I'm just lucky I noticed it wasn't charging in the moment and was able to remove the cable so quickly. Got in touch with Meta, started a return, got my labels, all good, smooth sailing. Printed them and arranged for collection 3 days later, took the day off work to make sure it was collected and DHL picked up my parcel. Next day the parcel comes back to me because there in no hazardous label on the box? Talked to meta and DHL for a few hours sharing screenshots between each company (I just wanted to get to the root cause of the return) DHL said it's because meta have stated on the waybill that meta produced there contains lithium-ion batteries inside, which would then require a hazard label. After advising DHL there is only 1 battery for the headset in the parcel, a hazard label won't be required, but the waybill will require editing. Advised Meta of this and got another return label - with the exact same wording on it which was the reason it was returned to me initially... Forwarded this to DHL who said it shouldn't be an issue, they copied in the depot who would receive it and advised it will be fine, they edited the waybill on their system, and when they receive it, just print the new waybill and process it. So, I arranged another collection, for yesterday (another day off work to make sure the headset is collected)... I get a notification, same night that it's being returned to sender again due to, yet again, no hazard label. Contacted Meta, advised them and now their team is looking into it with currently no ETA on a response. I feel like I'm going to be perpetually stuck with a dead headset and it just going on a nice day trip a few times a week. I find it hard to believe that this is the first headset in the UK that's been returned. So how is it other headsets have made it back the the quest 3 graveyard? Or why is it mine is the exception? Maybe I'm not, anyone else out there with nightmare return stories? Just noticed a similar post here - https://communityforums.atmeta.com/discussions/OtherTroubleshooting/uk-return-customer-service-nightmare-due-to-conflicting-advice-on-dhl-labelling/1366681 Does Meta need to change their policy here? Just either change their waybill description or supply a hazard label? Or does DHL require more training? Both? Thanks for reading & keep your fingers crossed for a quick(ish) resolution. EDIT - I HAVE A RESOLUTION - BUT META WON'T HELP! I contacted DHL and they advised if I provided them the returns label and waybill from Meta, they would edit it so it was fit for shipping and send it back for me to attach to the parcel. Told Meta this and they will not print me another waybill and shipping label because the case was escalated, now I've been told to wait for the team who has the escalation to contact me, and there is no ETA! Even though, I have an immediate resolution. QUOTE FROM DHL - In that instance we don’t need the “Lithium Ion Batteries in compliance with Section II of PI967” be declared, it’s moot given it’s moving by road & only contains the 1 battery powered device. META - if you read this, stop adding the above to your parcels, it's not required and only causing issues! I'm so frustrated by all of this!521Views2likes42CommentsA strange white light came on while my Quest 3S was charging.
Hello, everyone! I have a question about my Meta Quest 3S. Tonight, I put my headset on charge because I noticed that the battery was low, but I also noticed that after a while, the charging indicator light changed from orange to white and the lenses activated. Not knowing what this meant, I got a little worried about the health of my headset, so please, can anyone give me some answers? Thank you! (:Solved328Views0likes15Comments
