APK sideloaded apps not launching on Quest 3 after v66 update — anyone else facing this?
Hey everyone, After updating my Quest 3 to v66, I noticed something strange with sideloaded APK apps. Some of the apps that were working fine before the update now instantly crash or don’t launch at all. For example, I tested a few sideloaded APK utilities, including this Android scripting tool, and after the update, the APK installs successfully but simply won’t open. No error message, nothing — it just returns back to the Quest UI. I’m trying to figure out whether: v66 added new security restrictions on non-Meta APKs, or there’s a new permission issue, or I need to reset developer mode settings. Has anyone else experienced this with other Android apps or tools after the update? Any fixes or workarounds would be appreciated — I use sideloaded apps a lot for testing. Thanks in advance.105Views0likes4CommentsUnknown Sources missing on new profile in Quest 3S after V81 PTC Update (Developer Mode Enabled)
Hi, I need help with an issue on my Meta Quest 3S. There are three profiles on the headset: 1. Owner (primary profile) 2. Secondary profile 3. My new profile (my own Meta account) Unknown Sources shows correctly on the owner and secondary profiles. But on my new profile, the Unknown Sources tab does not appear at all in the App Library. This issue started after updating to V81 PTC. Steps I already tried: - Created a new Meta account using Gmail - Logged into the Meta Horizon app with the same account - Joined / created a Developer Organization - Developer Mode is enabled in the Meta Horizon / Meta Link app - Restarted the headset multiple times - Device owner confirmed Developer Mode is still On I am wondering if this is a known bug on V81 PTC for additional profiles on Quest 3S. Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!119Views0likes1CommentMeta quest 3S night vision
Yes, you read that right! The meta quest 3S is capable of night vision. It has infrared cameras and infrared illuminators, making it perfect for night vision. Only thing is I can't find out how to see through the infrared cameras. You can test this yourself by using the space setup feature in pitch black darkness, and it will still work perfectly, allowing you to traverse the room slowly as the scan occurs, even while you can't see your hand in front of your face! I have looked for games and apps that utilise your space to show a different vision mode like Espire 2's espire vision in mixed reality, but this still needs light and is more like a filter, instead of giving you a visual representation of your scanned rooms So long story short is, is there a way to either see through your infrared cameras, which would make this full blown night vision goggles, or to use the scan of your room to give you a visual representation of your space, for example a wireframe of your space while you are in it in complete darkness, effectively allowing you to "see" in the dark, since the goggles certainly can and will track your movements in the environment, allowing you to traverse it in darkness. I hope I explained that sufficiently. So yeah, let me know if you know any apps/developer options that either let you use the infrared cameras to see or to give you a "stylised" 3d representation of your space in mixed reality330Views0likes0CommentsEducator/student accounts / Unable to add Payment method
It seems I'm now required to add a payment method to set Oculus Quest 2 to Developer Mode. Is there any way for educators and students to bypass this? I shouldn't require students to add credit card numbers to learn how to develop for Oculus Quest 2 ...1.1KViews1like1CommentIs WebXR dom-overlay support hidden behind a feature flag?
Hi, I'm trying to use the WebXR `dom-overlay` feature. I've tried some online demos and turning on these Chrome flags: "WebXR Experiments" "Experimental Platform features" But no joy. Is this simply not supported? Is there any plan to support it? Thanks Wayne5.5KViews3likes10CommentsDeveloper Mode keeps getting disabled
I've been using to developer mode to use custom apps. But every reboot, it gets disabled. The developer settings in the system settings is still there, but USB Debugging doesn't work, and the unknown sources category is missing. When I go to the Oculus app on my phone, it shows that it got disabled. It's really annoying having to go to my phone everytime I reboot my Oculus just so that I can use developer mode. Is there a way to fix this?2.1KViews1like1CommentOculus quest 2 developer mode not working properly
Hello, Since yesterday 15:30 (AMS time) The developer hub app stopped working properly. I've done a total of 3 factory resets. I reinstalled all my accounts. Reinstalled every app on my computer for developing for the oculus. But the problem persists. The problem is: I connect the oculus through the usb cable to the computer. The hub detects it as usual. But 6 seconds into the future and it kicks the device right of the hub. It tells me: Device detected but unauthorized. Please put on your headset to confirm the USB Debugging dialog. Funny thing is, I allowed this already. I have to restart the device to see this window pop up again. It's on always allow for this computer. But the problem still persists. It kicks my device after exactly 6 seconds and I get the same message, over and over again. Lovely problem. Working already for 6 hours to resolve this problem, but can't seem to find anyone on any forum with the same problem. I haven't found a work around so if someone finds a solution or knows what is wrong please let me know. Just want to add that this is one of the worst devices I have worked with. Can't seem to get this device to work stable for development. Mark fix your company14KViews4likes6CommentsUnreal Engine github version not compatible with MetaXRPlatform plugin.
Hello, I'm sure I've done something wrong or missed something, but I'm trying to get my entitlement check working and I'm having a heck of a time. A bit of background: I've downloaded and compiled the latest Unreal Engine github fork I've built my project and it works and everything is compiling and happy I made a Game Instance blueprint I've tried to drag out an Entitlement pin, and Unreal Engine finds nothing. When I download the MetaXRPlatform (Version 65.0) The Engine starts up with this error: The 'OculusPlatform' plugin was designed for build 5.3.0. Attempt to load it anyway? and when I press Yes it gives me another error: The following modules are missing or built with a different engine version: OVRPlatform Engine modules cannot be compiled at runtime. Please build through your IDE. Do I need to compile something else somewhere? Please help! JPSolved4.9KViews1like8CommentsOculus 3 developer mode not working to show sideloaded apps
We have an app in the store and are trying to sideload a new version for a demo. It is saying we can't pirate the app. It is our app. When I uninstall it through the app store and side load it it does not show up in the installed app list. What can I do to fix this? We have some errors on the app store version and are trying to see if we have fixed it. We also have a presentation today and need to run the new version ASAP479Views0likes0Comments
