Lock pattern changed LOCKED OUT OF MY OWN META QUEST 3!
Hello team, hope this finds you well. Today a notification prompted that said to put a screen lock on, with different options i.e pin or pattern, i chose pattern. I set a lock pattern and turned my meta Quest 3 off. Upon turning it back on i find out that the lock pattern design has been changed completely from a 9 dot (basic unlock pattern) it changed to a octagonal shape thingy (I have attached a picture of the lock screen and the changed pattern design) Which only consists of 8 dots which can be seen in the picture, so its practically impossible for me or many others users having same issue to login with the pattern we set. The only option it has is forgot password, and the only thing we see once we click on it is a guide to factory reset the meta quest 3 because thats the only solution according to it. I request the team to work on this lock pattern bug and let us know ASAP if theres any solution to it. (Picture attached) (Publishing from a different meta account than that in meta quest 3) regards Zxytro796Views5likes14CommentsScreen Lock Pattern changed with v81 update and broke lock pattern
Upon opening my Quest 3 this evening, I was prompted to create a screen lock, and I used the pattern lock, which presented me with a square grid of 9 dots. I entered a pattern, and then regretted it, and could not find where to reset the pattern. Right after that, the v81 update installed, rebooted the headset, and I was prompted to enter my pattern to unlock, but the grid was NOT the 3x3 square grid, but rather a rhomboid pattern with three dots in the top row, two in the center row, three in the bottom row, and no center dot. My lock pattern uses the center dot, and no matter how I try to match the simple pattern I used, nothing matches. I cannot use my phone app to unlock the Quest 3, I cannot get past the lock screen in the Quest 3, and I am told that there is no solution other than a factory reset.231Views0likes6CommentsFIXED: Quest 3 Locked After Setting Password Instead of PIN - NO Reset Needed
Problem: I accidentally set a password (e.g., "Meta Quest") using the hidden Android settings on my Meta Quest 3. After that, the headset asked for a PIN, not a password -- and there was no way to type letters. It looked like a factory reset was the only way out. Solution (No Factory Reset!): You can unlock your Quest and reset the passcode using the Meta Quest mobile app, even if the headset is stuck at the PIN screen. Step-by-Step: 1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone (Android or iPhone). 2. Make sure the app is connected to your locked Quest headset. 3. Tap Menu > Devices > Headset Settings. 4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Passcode. 5. The app will prompt you to enter a PIN -- but it only shows a number pad, so you can't type your password here... yet. Workaround: 6. In another app on your phone (like Chrome, Notes, etc.), type your actual password -- for example: Meta Quest 7. Copy the password to your clipboard. 8. Go back to the Meta Quest app's PIN entry screen. 9. Paste your full password into the PIN textbox (yes, even though it shows a number pad). 10. Hit Enter -- your Quest will immediately unlock, and you can now set a proper 4-digit PIN. 100 percent working on Meta Quest 3. No factory reset needed. No debug mode. No PC. Just the Meta app plus this trick. Hope this helps others!490Views0likes2CommentsQuest 3 was stuck on finding position, now is stuck on a black screen.
I was playing like normal, and turned my headset off for a bit. I went back on a few hours later and it was stuck on a black screen with the text in the title. I did a factory reset and now it’s just a grey screen. I see and hear the oculus logo when I start it, and I can see my volume when I adjust it. My controllers are also constantly doing a pulse vibration, trying to pair to my headset if I had to guess. I’ve stripped the thing down and scrubbed it with a clean, dry microfiber, as well as swapped the controller batteries several times. I can’t afford to buy another $500 piece of junk and I don’t have a warranty as it was off marketplace. Any help is appreciated.27Views0likes1CommentBoot looping in boot menu (USB update mode)

Hello everyone. I received the Meta Quest 3 headset on October 12th. Launched, updated the software. And I started playing games while connected via Oculus Link to my laptop. On October 12, 13, everything was just great. Half Life Alyx has a fantastic level of graphics, a stable frame rate, there was not a single glitch. This morning I picked up the helmet again and noticed that the image quality had become terrible. Even in the lobby menu, it's terrible. There is no clarity of the image, the effect of a ladder and ripples is especially noticeable on the lines. I launched the same Half Life ALyx, and it was a terrible soap. Worse than in Quest 2. Also, while playing Blade and Sorcery, I noticed that the frame rate dropped. Although in the settings it is worth "raising the frame rate to 120 so that where possible". Changing the settings of the frame rate, screen resolution in the Meta-application did not give results. Resetting to factory settings via the Meta application also did not give results. Resetting to factory settings by pressing the off key and adjusting the volume on the helmet then also did not give results, the image is still of poor quality. The lenses are clean, there are no stains. I attach 2 screenshots, but I can assure you that the quality in the screenshots is better than what I actually see. In fact, the reflection in the mirror and the palm tree look much worse than in the screenshots, they are very blurred and pixelated.Solved136KViews9likes92CommentsA hotfix that resets the Quest 3 bootloader will help many people.
encountered a problem where the bootloader on my Quest 3 became damaged and unusable. It's now completely unsigned and won't even allow the system to boot. I'm begging the Meta developers to create an executable module that, when connected via ADB, would allow for updating not only the system but also the bootloader itself. This will help many people experiencing gray screens and other issues. And they won't have to replace the devices that are experiencing the problem; instead, they'll be able to resolve it themselves, with the help of tech support!29Views0likes1CommentQuest 3S no longer starts up properly.
One day, suddenly, Quest 3S stopped tracking and would not respond to commands. It seems that the HMD itself is not tracking properly either, as the image does not move when I move my viewpoint. Below are the actions I tried. Symptoms 1 Suddenly, the controller pointer stopped tracking, and the home screen of the quest became extremely unstable. 2When you move your viewpoint, the image remains unchanged and continues to move in the same direction you moved it. 3. I tried restarting the system, but the symptoms did not improve. 4. I restored the system to factory settings, but now the Meta Horizon OS animation plays, but after that, the display stays black even though the power is on. When I adjust the volume, I can hear the sound of the adjustment UI and when the system goes into sleep mode.83Views1like3CommentsSolved! Grayscreen after factory reset(REMOVE TAPE FROM SENSOR)
Another title might be: Stuck on "choose profile" screen as my controllers are not recognized, after changing the batteries. update: it seems like after the last step I did to troubleshoot below where the latest software was updated onto my Meta 3, something changed with the functionality of being able to put tape over the sensor above the lenses, like between the eyebrows. I did this to keep the headset on particularly when I was putting it on and off my elderly parents when I could not cast, to assist them with their experience more quickly. This still works on my other M3 that has not had the newest software update pushed yet. Also, for what it's worth, I have a new pair of really chunky eyeglasses and when I put those on they also blocked the sensor in the same way the tape had, and I got the backlit gray screen. I really hope my rabbit hole helps somebody! meta, I implore you to please leave this post just in case it does. & for what it's worth, when I did successfully complete the factory reset, my controllers were automatically recognized without having to pair them again or anything. original: Changed the OEM rechargeable batteries on my controllers with another set of OEM rechargeable batteries. No big deal, right? No way this can brick my device. Then, tried to log on the headset but got stuck in the screen where you select a profile, as I couldn't use my controllers. (Though I could hard press the meta button and recenter the screen). I have NO third party accessories. My battery is in the 90s, excluding the elite strap. The app could not connect to the headset so I couldn't wipe the device (factory reset) from here. I did however make sure my phone is on the typical wifi network. My bluetooth is on. Sometimes it shows as a connected bluetooth device on my iPhone, but when it does, there's no circle i button next to Connected where you can then hit "forget device." Tried restarting by hitting power button for 30 seconds. I see the logo, then a backlit black screen. Tried restarting by hitting volume down and power button until the special screen pops up. I tried all of the following sequentially, with plenty of time in between each, which again brought me to the backlit black screen. Factory reset Power off Boot device Sideload update Followed your directions to another user with this problem with the original cable to my computer. I selected my device to connect. I get the error message: Connection Failed. Error claiming interface: Ensure no other tabs are accessing the device and that local ADB isn't connected. If needed, run 'adb kill-server' and 'adb detach' in the terminal and retry connect. Gonna be honest, no idea what this means. I went to the command prompt and entered it and obviously, it's not the right thing. So for s&g I went to the Task Manager and killed the background process called adb.exe (32 bit) So this was right!? I then tried again and I got further in the process tree, and got to Recovery software installation complete. Comically with a "continnue" [sic] button. Update successful. Removed device. Tried to start it up, nogo. Hit the power+volume down to get to choices screen, selected Factory Reset. Backlit black screen. I bought an extended warranty on this but I am completely beside myself. What's going on, how do I fix this asap? Thank you.123Views1like4Comments
