Many Meta Quest 3 owners are experiencing the same serious issue after what appears to be a faulty firmware update. The headset starts normally, shows the Meta logo, then displays the down-arrow firmware symbol as if it’s updating. After that, the screen goes completely black and never turns back on. People have already tried every official fix that Meta recommends: Rebooting the headset. Performing a full hard reset using the power and volume buttons. Installing the manual firmware update through the Meta update tool on a computer. Even after completing all of these steps successfully, the headset remains unusable. The issue clearly points to a defective firmware update or a corrupted boot process caused by the update itself, not user error or damage. Some customers have received replacements, while others have been denied support because their device is out of warranty. That inconsistency is unacceptable. A firmware defect that originates from Meta should not depend on warranty status. This needs to be recognized as a widespread product issue. Meta should take responsibility, publicly acknowledge the problem, and provide free repairs or replacements to all affected customers. Everyone affected should post here and share: When the problem started and what update version it followed. Any videos or photos showing the black screen sequence. What Meta Support said or offered in response. If enough reports are collected, this could draw the attention of consumer protection agencies, the media, or legal firms willing to pursue a class action. The goal is not to complain, but to get a fair solution for everyone who has been left with a bricked headset due to a faulty update. This issue is not isolated. It’s widespread, and it needs to be addressed now.1.6KViews5likes11CommentsQuest 3S stuck in bootloader, cannot switch slot or boot
Hello, My Meta Quest 3S is completely stuck in bootloader/fastboot mode after switching the active slot. Details: The device was running fine on slot B. In the reboot menu there was a button to change slot, I switched to slot A. After switching, the system no longer boots. The slot change button disappeared from the reboot menu. Now every option in bootloader (Boot device, Recovery, Reboot) just reloads bootloader again I cannot boot into system or recovery at all. Fastboot info: current-slot: a slot-unbootable:a:yes slot-unbootable:b:no Bootloader locked (unlocked:no) fastboot --set-active=b FAILED (remote: 'Operation Not Permitted') So I am stuck in a bootloop and cannot switch back to slot B or boot into recovery. Could you please help me either force switch to slot B or provide a recovery image/software repair?1.2KViews1like13CommentsQuest 2 App Launcher and System stuck in a bootloop on start-up
So basically I just started up my headset, it started up normally up until the passthrough appeared, every few seconds it would stop capturing and keep going in the direction the headset's tracking was going, stretching before it then begin capturing again, it then tried to boot the main launcher which failed each time, each time it failed the screen went black, still on though. I tried to see if a factory reset would fix it but no, that failed and it kept doing that thing now with the starting screen thing, it required the controllers so I grabbed those and started them, each time the screen did that going black thing the controllers disconnected and reconnected. I did try to use the online updater but it said my headset was 'unsupported'. I'm not sure what do to really, I tried to look it up but I kept getting results for different issues. I sure do hope it's just a software issue cause it was working fine last night. (another thing I forgot to mention is that I did have it plugged in to my pc all night, though the headset was off, hope that helps if that's relevant)35Views0likes0CommentsUnable to connect the controllers to my Meta Quest 3
I am unable to connect the controllers to my Meta Quest 3. I performed a factory reset on the headset, but the issue persists. I also attempted additional troubleshooting steps, including resetting the Quest 3 controllers using the correct button combinations: Right controller: Hold the A button and press the Home (Meta logo) button five times. Left controller: Hold the X button and press the Menu button five times. However, no orange or white light appeared, and the light did not change to blue during boot. Because the controllers are not pairing, the firmware update remains stuck at 0%, leaving me unable to complete the setup process.48Views0likes1CommentMy headset is stuck in a boot loop - Quest 2
Hi guys, My quest 2 has been working perfectly since i got in on 22nd of october. Now suddenly it will not boot up anymore. When I turn it on, it shows the oculus logo, stays there for a few seconds, then shuts down for a few seconds, and then shows the logo again, shuts down, logo, shuts down.... The only way I can really stop this, is by acessing the usb update menu on one of the loops and selecting "Power off". I have tried all the options and they do nothing. If I select "boot device", it starts the boot loop again as before. The same thing happens if I select "factory reset". Once I confirm that i want to factory reset it, it just goes back into the boot loop, and nothing else happens. So yes, i did try to factory reset it, but it just doesnt work. Any ideas and tips would be greatly apreciated.Solved47KViews1like42CommentsMETA HORIZON!!!!
META, please add anti-theft protection and device location search, as devices are often stolen and we can't find them ourselves. And you, a giant company, can't ensure the security of your device. My glasses were stolen. My account is on it, and I can see when it's online. I can't do anything about it, except offer a reset. It would be better if you could help me find its location!155Views1like14CommentsGrey screen and account problem
This afternoon I checked the settings and it showed I had a pending update I accepted it and put my headset aside to let it work. Once I put it back on it was stuck on a grey screen. I already : factory reset it, updated it using the web tool, let it rest and charge it to 100% Then I gave up and tried to ask for help the meta website keeps telling me my account has no devices associated, but I actually have the Meta App in my cellphone and the device is actually linked. I'm going insane I bought this for Christmas and now suddenly is not working after installing an update and the website doesn't let me contact customer service What options do I have?75Views0likes3CommentsQuest 2 camera's not tracking properly?
My Quest 2 was working fine. I hadn't used it for a month or 2 and decided to boot it up. It would start up and seem normal for a few seconds. Then the camera tracking would float off and the image would freeze for a couple seconds. It would do this over and over. I thought a factory reset might solve the problem but now it just does the same thing while trying to load into the starting environment. It goes back and forth between freezing on the environment back to pass through loading into environment, tracking floats away, goes back to pass through, loads back into environment. Over and over. I have no way of accessing my menu to check tracking settings. I assume one of my cameras might have become faulty. I replaced a camera once roughly 2 years ago and it worked good as new. I think maybe its the same camera that became faulty. But I would like to like to figure out how I can know for sure. I don't want to end up replacing all 4 and have it still not working. Maybe it could be a firmware issue. I don't really know.62Views0likes1Comment
