My App no longer works after Quest 2 software update
My app was working fine until I updated to the latest Quest 2 headset software. I have the same issue with 3 other headsets after I updated to the latest software. When I attempt to launch the app I developed, it goes black and then bounces me back to oculus lobby or it asks to reset the boundary. I have four headsets and they all have the same issue after updating. My app was working fine and only stopped working after the headset software update. I've done the following to no avail 1) Factory reset on one headset (i have issue with the 4 headsets I've updated). That hasn't resolved it. 2) I've tried at my home and at a co-working location 3) I've uninstalled and reinstalled my app. 4) I've signed off of wifi and signed back in. Another developer I contacted also has the same issue. Does anyone come across this and was able to resolve?1.2KViews0likes2CommentsHow to PREVENT Meta's updates on Meta Quest Pros & 2s
Dear Meta, I am one of developers using multiple Meta Quest Pros and 2s. Is there a way for us to configure the headset such that Meta's OS updates do NOT happen automatically (e.g. Meta's recent v54 update disabled controllers and suddenly broke our AR software in development). Meta has been "forcing" these updates without our consent. And, in rare cases when this update happens, it disables functionality or even bricks the headset (problems with Quest 2 last summer where we had to factory reset for particular updates). We are not trying to ignore your updates, but merely trying to stop the updates during our critical software development period. We understand the importance and benefits of these updates. However, it's not a risk that we can take during this time. These types of forced updates are increasingly making us, developers, difficult to rely on Meta Quest Pros and 2s for development. Let us know if there is a functionality to to disable these forced updates, or if not, could you add one asap?1.5KViews1like2CommentsUnity App Crashing on Quest
After building our metaverse application and not having tested in a while, it seems to not be running and instead crashing on each launch. Oculus firmware 50 seems to be the cause of this. We are using 2021.3 LTS and IL2CPP with Arm64. The error is a Sigabrt Signal 6 Code -1 Fatal Exception Java Lang Error. The app seems to be working with Mono Arm7 but only when it doesn't have more than like 4 scenes. I hear that firmware 50 may have Android 12 and was released for early access users. We've tried everything in the book to fix this, and apparently the performance isn't going to be the same either even if we do get it to run. We are going to update to Unity 2022 to see if this fixes anything but we've been spinning our wheels like crazy. Please let me know if you have any ideas as to why it is suddenly crashing without explanation.Solved11KViews2likes10CommentsTerrible Performance on Firmware 50
Hi, we are using 2021.3.22 f1 and our main scene with the majority of meshes is performing terribly. This seems crazy to me that Meta would release a firmware update like this that affects every developer's apps. I saw a few others have the same issue with their store apps and 2021.3. Have any of you solved this issue? I am going to try downgrading to 2020.1.14 as it seems it may be related to an Android 11 Arm64 native heap allocator thing and they recommend downgrading. That would make sense as Oculus never updated Quest to Android 11, only from 10 to 12 and apparently there are some memory issues going on since Android 11 and the way our scene loads or doesn't load seems to be related to memory issues as it loads sometimes (with bad performance) and other times it doesn't and crashes, and sometimes it loads halfway and freezes too. We are using IL2CPP and ARM64 and testing on Quest Pro.681Views0likes0CommentsPerformance Issues after Firmware 50 update
We had some huge performance issue on new firmware update with our store apps. I would like to double check if someone else here got the same problem. Our 72fps apps running down to 8-40fps and spacewarp going crazy. Even our R&D apps running low after this update which is a lightweight poly testing grounds. All SDKs and plugins & API levels- are up to date and we cannot find the problem except some heavy threading work on IOTCAM. Can also say Semaphore running on 80-200ms for no reason. Thanks!1.3KViews3likes2Comments
