FIXED: Quest 3 Locked After Setting Password Instead of PIN - NO Reset Needed
Problem: I accidentally set a password (e.g., "Meta Quest") using the hidden Android settings on my Meta Quest 3. After that, the headset asked for a PIN, not a password -- and there was no way to type letters. It looked like a factory reset was the only way out. Solution (No Factory Reset!): You can unlock your Quest and reset the passcode using the Meta Quest mobile app, even if the headset is stuck at the PIN screen. Step-by-Step: 1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone (Android or iPhone). 2. Make sure the app is connected to your locked Quest headset. 3. Tap Menu > Devices > Headset Settings. 4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Passcode. 5. The app will prompt you to enter a PIN -- but it only shows a number pad, so you can't type your password here... yet. Workaround: 6. In another app on your phone (like Chrome, Notes, etc.), type your actual password -- for example: Meta Quest 7. Copy the password to your clipboard. 8. Go back to the Meta Quest app's PIN entry screen. 9. Paste your full password into the PIN textbox (yes, even though it shows a number pad). 10. Hit Enter -- your Quest will immediately unlock, and you can now set a proper 4-digit PIN. 100 percent working on Meta Quest 3. No factory reset needed. No debug mode. No PC. Just the Meta app plus this trick. Hope this helps others!20Views0likes0CommentsHand Tracking menu ruins game play
The first thing people do with hand tracking is look at their hands. The second thing they do is touch their fingers. Then Quest shuts down the game; because that's the hand gesture Meta chose as an 'escape' key. I encourage players to see/feel their hands in the experience because it is so much more enjoyable and immersive. Literally the entire point of mixed reality. This menu punishes all that fun with a distracting, overly sensitive button that apparently cannot be disabled. But can it be delayed? Ideally, the icon would not appear until after touching (and holding) thumb/finger together for 2 seconds, then become active (similar to holding controller's menu button down to reset view). I understand Quest "needs" an escape gesture, but not if it constantly interrupts everything. Anyone else dealing with this? Found another solution or workaround?1.8KViews5likes6CommentsAMD Encoder's 100Mbps Cap
Hello everybody, as you can see from the screenshot above, AMD fixed in their last driver 23.2.2 the problem with their encoders when going over 100Mbps. Full release notes here: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.2.2 Release Notes | AMD If i remember correctly, meta has hard capped the bitrate to 100 for AMD cards, so i tried to play a little with the settings after updating the drivers (i have a 6800xt) and can confirm, even if i push fixed 200Mbps from the oculus dashboard (with airlink), I'm still capped at 100Mbps. If anyone from Meta's team is reading this, please consider updating and let us use higher bitrates. It may be that AMD's user are a minority in the VR world, but we are still here. Since installing version 27 I have horrible black icons on a gray background in the menu. I was hoping version 28 would fix it, but the bug is still there. I tried to reset the experimental features and reboot, but the problem persists. Do you know any workaround?576Views0likes0CommentsOculus, you need to seriously fix link!
First of all, these issues are minor if you play any game that isn't extremely fast-paced, but if it is, it will screw it over extremely. I am a competitive Beat Saber player, being around some of the highest ranks in the UK. And I use the Oculus Quest as when I initially got it I did not have a PC. When I originally started PCVR, I had no complaints and only praises as it was a major upgrade. However, recently I have noticed much more micro stutters appearing in-game and to be honest, it has gotten to a point where I can't finish levels I can easily pass due to how bad the issue is. Now I know the issue may have been on me, however after trying every single possible fix it is still very prominent and extremely bad. Even with V26 that was meant to help "fix" issues, I have seen no improvement what so ever, other than the addition of a couch? Seriously? No one asked for that! So now I am starting to lose faith in Oculus with the link updates. You seriously need to fix this stuttering issue, both audio and visual! And I know it is an Oculus issue cause I can literally see the link home menu stutter when out of all things, that should not be the thing to stutter. I have tested everything Oculus, and it all points at the issue belonging to YOU! This isn't a PC or Mod problem, I tested them separately and from what I know, they have not done anything to improve the stutter issue even once I removed the potential issue. I like your headsets, it has changed my life, yet it seems you just push updates for more features, rather than more stability. Hopefully this will prevent soft bricks and other hassles: Most of us will never have any problems but if we do then often a factory reset is the best cure. At least on something otherwise as limited as the GO. Together with problems often comes a firmware update. And since these do their stuff mostly in the background it is easy to miss something. One thing first: Make sure that your GO and phone are connected to the same WiFI!! Same for the phone being visible in BT mode!! Using the GO on the 5GHz WiFi and the phone on the 2.4GHz WiFi is not working as it should!! 1. Firmware updates: About once a week you should pair your GO with the phone or tablet used to set it up. Just let them sit together for a while you have dinner or similar. Only if both devices are paired and connected to the same WiFi it is possible to get and install firmware updates. Leaving your GO for weeks without ever adding the phone could mean you miss out on vital updates. In some cases it is advised to restart the GO after a firmware update to complete everything. Do not restart while a firmware update is still in progress! 2. Factory reset: Let's face it: With all the ongoing reports of bricked devices one can be hesitant to reset. At least in theory there is a simple way to ensure a factory reset goes as planned. The key of course is to follow step one first! You simply do not want to do a factory reset if there is update pending!! If you do then this update has to work in the background during the new set up of the GO. And without the phone or tablet paired for this from the start it is easy to stuff it all up. Worst case would be if a vital setup part happens while the firmware update tries to change files - brick. Might also be possible that the block based updates require a fully set up GO to work in the first place. You see that making sure the GO is updated to latest firmware stuff before attempting a factory reset... There are many different options to a factory reset on the GO. Like going into the settings on the GO or using the app on the phone. The later is prefered as it would make sure that possible updates are checked first. However, I prefer the classic and low level way. By going through the recovery for a factory reset I can make sure really nothing on the GO is active and that I don't have to rely on a past boot command to work properly. But even here I first check for firmware updates... In case the reset still goes wrong: Don't panic! The support is still able to fix it once you sent it back. But there might be the option to do another factory reset if the GO is not booting up. Enter the recovery manually by holding down the volume down button when starting the GO. In the menu (using volume to select) use the factory reset option and confirm with a quick press of the power button. If the firmware was not corrupted then the reset should proceed as normal and with some luck revive your GO. Untested so far though... Again I have to stress out to ensure the phone is paired and connected to WiFi.13KViews8likes13Commentshow do i stop the rift from not working after everytime i turn off my pc
I have to re download and fix the oculus software every time I turn off the computer, I've tried removing the headset first and adding it back but says sensors can't be sensed or whatever, and fixing the software in apps and features is the only thing I can do atm to fix it is extremely annoying, FYI I also cut power to pc once it is turned off (not my choice) so don't know if loss of power to the rift would cause these issues also. Headset works fine had no issues originally but ever since turning my computer of im having these issues, any ideas how i can quickly reinstall instead of downloading or any other fixes like saving an instance of the working oculus software1.7KViews0likes6Comments[SOLUTION] Has your right headphone stopped working? Worry ye not. Suprisingly easy fix inside! :)
I am so pleased!!! I was crushed when my CV1 developed the issue that so many others have, where the right headphone suddenly decides to stop working. The CV1's headphones although not totally super-dooper, are just so convienient! I hated plugging in other headphones. BUT If the CV1 had to have one design flaw, I'm proper chuft it was this one. Because it is so easy to fix! And if I can do it... :) All you need to do is run a length of wire connecting the bottom connector pin of the left headphone to the bottom pin of the right headphone. I had an old telephone cable which when stripped down contained a good few lengths of flex wire. To do this you just mash the wire into the headphone's bottom pin hole on the rift itself, and then screw on the headphone (making sure the headphone pin has a good contact with the wire) - fiddly but much easier with someone else to screw the headphone in. Then mash the other end into the other side's bottom pin hole, screwing the headphones in as before. So I am using my Oculus Quest with Quest link and the sound fix, changing the device name, worked fine for me. This method should be suitable if you do not live in English-speaking countries or the system language on your PC is not English. I live in Russia and after these actions my Oculus Link works like a charm. I also got a sound in my headset working. The headset must not be connected to a PC until step 8! The headset must be updated to version 13! 1. Enable PTC (Public test channel). 2. Wait for the app to update. 3. After the update, you should see a message to update the drivers. Update them. 4. After installing the update, make sure that the drivers are installed. ( In the device Manager on your computer, under "Audio devices" (or something similar), find "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" open properties and make sure it is version 14.24.25.681 (Maybe higher). Then close the device manager) 5. Close device Manager 6. Open the sound settings (type the word sound in the search), then open the "playback" (or something similar) tab. Search for "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" change the name to "Headphones" 7. Open the "record" (or something similar) tab. Search for "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" change the name to "Headset Microphone" 8. Launch Oculus Link. Oculus.com store, please add shipment to Russia :)1.9KViews2likes7Comments
