Damaged Lens - Terrible Customer Support Experience
To start this off, I do not typically like to complain, but I've never been so disappointed in a company as I am with Meta right now. I'm a 32 year old techie and I've had my share of tech issues over the years with varying levels of support. I have to say though, this has been the worst experience I've had with a product and the support. I wear eyeglasses, as many people do and I had no idea the danger they posed to the Quest 3. I purchased my Quest 3 in February and have used it a handful of times, always taking care to protect and store the device. I was using the Quest 3 yesterday and it was either too loose or too tight and my glasses bumped the inner lens, scratching both my eyeglasses and the Quest 3 lens. After reviewing Reddit and forums online, I see this is a common problem and lens protectors inside the Quest are recommended.... Well that would be fine if Meta warned about this. I've spoken with support and there is no option to fix the lens, short of purchasing an entirely new Quest 3. I just paid $700 for the 512GB less than 3 months ago and the device is basically useless now. This scratch can be seen in all content on the Quest 3. It is absolutely mind-blowing to me that there is no lens replacement option, especially given how apparently fragile these are. New eyeglasses and a new Quest 3 would run $1000. Absolutely ridiculous. I would never want Meta to pay to fix my own glasses, but the fact that there isn't a ~$100 single lens repair option is so anti-consumer for users with glasses. Had I known these facts earlier, I would have just bought prescription lenses for the Quest itself, but I wanted to share the VR experience with my friends and family. Clearly that was a terrible idea as my headset is now a $700 brick and I need to rescind my recommendation to anybody that has used it. If you wear glasses you are better off not purchasing a Quest. Support will not be helpful. I have the emails and transcript to prove it if anybody is interested.1.2KViews2likes4CommentsMeta Ray Ban smart glasses and iPod nano - Perfect!
Now I'm hoping that we get an Apple Watch with 5G soon and even better - Meta Ray Bans with 5G but until then I've found that the perfect combination for me is the RayBans and my tiny little iPod nano which I haven't used for 6 years. I had no idea that it has bluetooth (airpods weren't out when I got this). I hate the size and weight of my phone but it has tools that I use for photogrammetry and "spatial" videos but for walks and general out-and-about times, this combo is great. The sound out of those glasses is incredible!1.5KViews3likes2CommentsGlasses problem!
The original problem of scratching the surface with glasses is temporarily solved with a set of silicon spacers. The awkward part is that there are two different attachments for each eye (the hard plastic and the silicon), and sometimes they are dislocating on their own. The NEW PROBLEM has appeared: the air circulation is compromised! My eyes are boiling inside! The glasses are fogging very quickly. How much more money do we need to invest to fix the Oculus VR product? Also, Oculus should have thought about this before. Expensive vision glasses are already ruined. I am not sure what else I can do to progress with this “glasses situation." I am not ready to keep investing in this Oculus product.599Views0likes0CommentsQuest 2 Blurry with my new contacts, was Fine with glasses. Please help me understand
Hello today I just came home with new contact lens, excited to finally play my quest 2 sans glasses spacer and glasses. Just me and the quest, so I put them in my eyes and get used to them for a bit and then put on my headset, but I was immediately met with disappointment when I load up a game and everything I see is blurry. Text and objects in the distance are unrecognizable. This is confusing because I've never had a blurriness issue in the months thats I've owned and been using the quest 2 with glasses. Would prescription lenses be better or is my slight astigmatism effecting my vision? It shouldn't though if the contact lenses are supposed to be correcting my vision the same as my glasses. Please help if anyone has heard of this, encountered this or knows of anyone that might have info5.2KViews0likes8CommentsGlasses Adapters
I'm thinking on buying the Rift S, however, due to my eyes condition, I wear expensive multifocal lenses that I would not like to damage by wearing the headset or scratching the Oculus lenses. Are there any official lens adapters provided by your company? I've seen on the web that some users are fabricating these adapters by themselves and it seems a cheap solution. Thanks!355Views0likes0CommentsGlasses of my Go striped. Solution ?
Hello, I've striped the left glass of my go (probably with my glasses) however, I was very careful ... Do you think it is repairable? Is it covered by the warranty? If no, where can I take a glass alone? Is it possible to find protection for glasses ? Thanks for your help Laurent1.6KViews0likes8Comments
