Oculus Quest 1 Oculus link hardware suggestion
Dear at all, about hardware components (like I’m an Apple user and now I have a MacBook Pro 2018 with a metal eGpu with a Vega Gpu and I think probably also if I try to crossover or boot camp or other thinks for Windows OS and I install the gpu and eGpu driver probably oculus link with an Oculus Quest and a Mac have a little probability to works), do you think a Windows computer with an intel i5 CPU with gpu specifics - 4core 8threads, 6MB shared L3 cash, two GPU, GPU1 Intel UHD Graphics 630, GPU2 AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL -> 4GB/HBM2 VRAM, memory DDR4/2666Hz 8GB - it can works? Thank you. Best regards and stay safe.866Views0likes1CommentGeForce RTX 3060Ti compatibility with Oculus Link on Quest 2?
Hi, does anyone have any experience with the 3060Ti and Oculus Link? I don't see it as an officially supported gpu, but know that the 20 series is supported. I'm thinking of getting the 3060 once it's available and in stock somewhere, but need to know if I'll have issues with it.19KViews1like19CommentsOculus PC app uses too much GPU memory
I'm using i5-9600K, 32GB Memory, RTX 2060 6GB VRAM to play VR games. When I'm playing Half-life: Alyx, it warned me that your GPU memory is not enough. I checked task manager and found that Oculus PC apps (include OVRServer_x64, OculusDash and OculusClient) are using nearly 2GB of GPU memory (see my screenshot below). I didn't open Oculus Home so it's not here. I created a ticket on Oculus Support site. The support said that from my log it uses only 1.2GB GPU memory and it's by design. I don't think it's a good idea to occupy 2GB memory out of 6GB while a game is running. I think Oculus app is caching something so that I can go back to dashboard quickly when pressing Oculus button. But I don't think it's necessary for me to do so. I want an option than can disable the cache (if there's any) to reduce the GPU memory usages during the game. Currently my solution is using Virtual Desktop to streaming VR game. It uses less than 500MB GPU memory while streaming. A disadvantage is that wireless network may cause more latency and frame loss rate. But it is better than lag caused by running out of GPU memory. If Virtual Desktop can stream via USB cable, I can just uninstall Oculus PC app. So, PC gamers in the forum, did you meet the problem, and what's your solution? So i have a GTX 1050 that Oculus says isn't compatible with the Link. Why not make it so that all GPU's are able to use Link? I personally wouldn't mind playing a VR game at 60 or even 50 FPS, i can deal with that, but the app literally doesn't let me. I don't know much about software, so i'm not sure about this, but i don't think you need to write special code or each and every GPU (Unless it has new features like RTX). But even if you needed to, what would take you so long? I've checked the compatible GPU list about every month since Link came out and i've seen about 3 updates to it. 1) AMD got supported (That's a good thing. We need more updates like that) 2) We got a few more GPU's added to the non-supported section (Basically just putting them on the list) and 3) The separation of 1060 to 3gb and 6gb. Edit: Also, let us easily change the App installation path. It's just annoying.3.6KViews1like8CommentsDCS World / Quest / GPU / 60-90 FPS
Hello, I've had a good look around trying to find the necessary specs, but could someone recommend to me a suitable GPU card to run DCS world in the 60-90 FPS range? Would the specs for the Rift S be the same? I realise Oculus Link is still in beta and not all GPU's are certified to be compatible as yet. I could not find much VR focused GPU benchmarks so I though I would ask: WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST GPU, THAT WOULD RUN CURRENT VR GAMES (OR LETS SAY PROJECT CARS 2) TO THE FULL OCULUS QUEST CAPACITY (on very high graphics settings with 2880 x 1440 resolution and stable framerate 72hz) ?
