Are/will there be business specific features for Horizon Worlds?
I want to leverage Horizon world platform, but need to introduce business specific functionality. For example, we'd like to allow businesses to integrate additional assets intot he world, Private external Data, Customised evnrionment models, external 3D assets, that could be viewed, manipulated, video streams, image content etc, This would allow for worlds to be created that wouldn't necessarily be visible to the everyone. and facilitate interactivity not currently supported by the existing building blocks. I can understand the limitation from an open world point of view, but for business use cases, i would like to be able to add a level of customisation that would otherwise not be possible. Is this on the roadmap? Is there a business focussed platform akin to Horizon World?817Views0likes0CommentsCustom Objects for home - How do you do Transparent objects (glass)
Hi, I've been modelling stuff in Blender and exporting to Oculus home and I've had a lot of success bringing in my own objects with textures in the GLB format. BUT!! .. Glass is a real pain in the ass because it actually doesn't work. There's no simple way to have a glass shader with glb. I've tried a million different ways to do it and the best I've ended up with is a highly reflective, slight dark shader that comes with a tonne of static that looks like VHS fuzz ... which isn't very flattering. Can you tell me how one is supposed to do glass .. or anything that's meant to have high alpha channel transparency. Clearly it can be done as multiple Oculus objects have glass textures. I'd rather like to develop custom objects for Oculus and knowing how to do glass with the glb format in blender would be a very helpful thing. Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question. If not, I apologize in advance. I'm trying to create custom 3D models for import into Oculus Home. I've been able to create a fairly complex robotic model with simple bone animations to move the eyes around. This works perfectly when imported. However, as soon as I try to skin any part of the armature with vertex weights, Home crashes with no indication as to why. I've pre-validated the glb (github.khronos.org/glTF-Validator/) and there are no errors. I can load the glb in all of the viewers (gltf-viewer.donmccurdy.com, babylon.js, Three.js, 3D Viewer, etc.) and everything looks good. Is there a log somewhere that I can check to see what causes the crash?968Views0likes1CommentCustom glb Object Imports Appear To Be Broken - Since v1.38 Update (06/21/19)
Hello all, Apparently, I'm not the only one having the issue. So, to make things short... .glb Importing of Personal objects into the import library seems to be either broken or corrupted. Oculus Version 1.38.0.261476 I was working on importing a whole new set of objects that I'd just converted using GLB Packer & Three.js (online) . Everything was working fine up until 2 days ago, right after the 1.38 update. Suddenly, I was unable to import anything at all, and the library wasn't updating on the fly either. I Also noticed the last few "Pride" Objects from Oculus that I had just gotten and placed in my VR Home, now do not appear in the librairy anymore, and do not show in the home either, (white empty square instead) - However, all the preveous imported personal objects I had removed from the import library still appear in the home, but if I remove them, I can not get them back, import being still broken... I've tried Uninstalling everything, clearing the library manually, Uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Oculus suite from the PC, clearing the registry remains, Rebooting and all, but to no avail... I Haven't the slightest clue as to what the issue here is (probably a glitch in the last update at best guess) - I doubt however that Oculus would have ended this without notifying their users first... Hope they get to fix the issue soon. - While we're at it, it would be a good thing for the dev's to allow end-users to manage their libraries so that we can remove some of the objects ourselves too, some of the stuff not necessarely being of interest to some, or just for the sake of keeping clean. Anyway, if someone finds a solution or workaround this problem, suggestions are most welcomed !! ;) Cheers 2 all.501Views1like0Comments
