meta quest developer hub issue
First of all, I think I might have posted this in the wrong category… apologies in advance. Best regards, I’m new to this forum and to the community. I want to take my first steps in dev, experiment a bit, and see how far one can get being creative with the features that devices offer. Along the way, I started setting up the Meta Quest Developer Hub. Everything went fine, but I have a question. I switched the Link version to Public Test. My device is now set to Public Test, but I still haven’t received OS v81. My question is: does switching the Link version to Public Test not actually push the device to update its version? I assume it doesn’t and that it just changes the communication channel, but I’d like to confirm to be sure. Another question: is there a way to manually push v81 through ADB?58Views0likes1CommentProblem with implementation of XRInputSourcesChangeEvent on Quest browser
Hi, I'm working on the development of a WebXR application and I've recently noticed an issue when the input controllers are temporarily lost and "reconnected". The reconnection triggers a XRInputSourcesChangeEvent event with an "added" property listing XRInputSource objects associated to each controller that is reconnected. These XRInputSource objects are supposed to have a gamepad property but it seems that this property is not set correctly (it's null) when a controller is reconnected. The problem doesn't occur the first time the controllers are detected after the initialization of the XRSession. The problem isn't reproduced on a different browser (wolvic). Environment: - Headset: Meta Quest 3 - Version: 64.0.0 Expected behavior: XRInputSourcesChangeEvent should provide an "added" property listing XRInputSource objects with a properly initialiazed gamepad property when a controller is "reconnected". Any idea for a workaround until a fix is implemented would be appreciated.700Views0likes1CommentPrivacy Policy
With this privacy policy, https://sites.google.com/view/monke-abyss-privacy-policy/home It says the two following errors: The Privacy Policy you submitted states that your app both does and does not collect user data. Please resubmit a revised policy that clearly explains whether or not your app collects user data. If it does, the policy must also include details on what specific data is collected and how that data is used by your app, as well as a mechanism for users to request deletion of their data. The Privacy Policy you submitted doesn't clearly state how the data is collected or processed (used) by your app. Please resubmit with a revised policy that clearly explains what specific data is collected and how that data is used by your app, and provide a mechanism for users to request deletion of their data. I don't know what to do about these. I tried 5 different times and none of them worked. So if you could modify it and send one that works, that would be a huge help.38Views0likes1Comment[BUG] Inside-Out Body Tracking Gets Stuck in the Floor After Taking Headset Off
I've been experiencing a bug with the Quest 3’s inside-out upper body tracking. The issue happens when you take the headset off and put it back on—the Inside-Out Body Tracking goes haywire. The only fix I've found is restarting the app that utilizes the feature. Pressing the Meta button also doesn't trigger a recalibration. I spoke to a Virtual Desktop developer as Virtual Desktop is a good application that utilizes the feature, and they confirmed it's not on their end; Virtual Desktop just forwards tracking data. This seems to be a problem with the headset or its software. I created this form to see if anyone else is running into the same problem. Here is a video showing the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyaQkGfzc-81.9KViews2likes4CommentsStill Not Visible! Some Indie Games Being Dropped
NOTE III: I've started a reddit thread in indiedev if anyone wants to add or comment on it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieDev/comments/1g8yzc4/warning_the_meta_quest_store_may_not_be_indie/ NOTE II: Meta Quest Store has no intention of helping indie developers if there is something wrong. Please see the ticket thread I have had with the team and then the response I recieved today, at or near the bottom of the comments. NOTE: If any other developers are having this issue, reply in here, it seems there are more of us than I thought. Let's try to get one big item going. Hey Meta Quest Team, Yes, I did a post last week about how our game has been approved and is not visible in the store and I'm doing another one. I appreciate that you responded, we sent an email to the support email you gave us, but it just went to the same team that we have had an open ticket with for the past two weeks. Two weeks!!! Our game is only visible if people type in its name exactly. It never appeared in new releases. It doesn't show up in any categories or search terms we gave it. Two weeks of the same response from the team with the ticket, "we have escalated it". How in the world does it take two weeks to determine what the issue is and fix it. Thousands of dollars went into our release strategy that we vetted at GDC with the meta employees working the space there. Thousands!! We are a small studio, everything we do we vet and determine the best course of action. I asked if there was any way they could act like it was new so we could get on the front page under new release like we planned to be and were told that we could always delist the game and then go through the submission process again. How in the world is that an answer! Do you know how many people can see and download your game if it isn't visible or at the very least semi-searchable. No one. The only reason a few people have seen our game is because streamers have had to say you need to type in the name of the game directly, or people click on a sidequest link. Freaking sidequest can see it and categorize it from your store but you can't seem to do it. Everything was geared towards this release. We did not expect it to be big, we were hopeing for luke-warm at best, we are realists. But this is insane! We have already had to tell everyone to find another place to go work because as far as we can tell, Meta is incapable of doing simple tasks like listing a game where they say they will and the last of the funds was used on a now-useless release campaign. Another great response we got was a list of articles on how to submit and publish a game on Meta. Thanks! We read those a long time ago and then again when you started merging the stores, we talked to you, we did everything that was asked and it didn't matter. Long winded way of asking a simple question. Why can't meta fix what is happening to our game? Can we get the email or a phone number of someone who can actually make something happen? We have asked the developer support and we just get the same response. In the email where they said to delist the game and resubmit they said they did not recommend it. So, what, are we just supposed be like ohh well, meta said your screwed so were screwed. At this point it seems like the only viable option because I'm starting to think you don't have control of your own system. Just in case anyone thinks I'm making something up i'm going to post the support thread in the comments6.9KViews3likes57CommentsMeta Horizon Store developers won't engage with their customers (us developers)!
Hey guys, I am Larry, and I created Abby Normal Studios early this year specifically to create and release some casual games that would be fun to play on a VR headset. Quest2/3 seemed an obvious choice, based on what I understand to be the total number of units shipped. When I first published "Close Encounters", it went to App Lab of course. Since there was no way at that time for App Lab submissions to provide keywords for our apps, my submission was lost in the chasm and could not be found unless the exact name was provided in the search bar. Sales from App Lab were basically zero. When App Lab was combined with the main Meta Store, I was thinking that my app would finally be searchable, which might greatly improve sales. That did not happen, of course, because the keyword search does not work, even though keywords are provided in the app metadata submission. None of this should really be that surprising, given that the merge of the App Lab content and the main Meta Store is probably more complex than any of us realize. What is surprising, however, is that the Meta Store development team apparently refuses to engage with their customer base: all of us app developers. I have been involved in software development and support for 40+ years, and I have found that the best way to ensure a loyal customer base is to respond to all queries honestly and in a timely manner. My products have certainly contained bugs and unintended operational features over the years, but I own those issues and I communicate with my customers and listen intently to their feedback. And I have gained a very loyal customer base. I posted this question to Meta technical support over a month ago: "After the App Lab and the Main App store were combined, it was then possible to enter keywords as part of the metadata for my app. One of my keywords is “breakout”. When I search for “breakout”, I only get 1 match, and that app is not “Close Encounters”. Do the keywords take some period of time to kick in? Also, when I scan the list under Apps->Games->See All, I never see my app. I’m wondering if I have done something wrong. My app appears to be largely invisible to the general public!" This is the response I received from the development team: "The Store team has provided the following information. The Meta Horizon Store aims to match apps and games with the users who are most interested in them. Updating your app’s metadata by adding search keywords and reviewing your app’s category and genres help inform how we identify the best match for a given user. Metadata updates may take some time to impact discoverability and are one of many factors. For additional information about how to market your app, please see our documentation on marketing best practices. As you consider adding search keywords to your app’s metadata, remember that to distribute on the Store, an app’s metadata must match the content of the app (VRC.Content.2)." That answer suggests one of two possibilities: 1: We didn't actually read your question, but we'd appreciate it if you'd stop asking questions about the Store because we are really busy trying to fix everything that is broken. 2: The Store development team never actually received my question, because tech support is overwhelmed and can easily rely on a trove of canned responses that could get this developer to stop annoying us. What I expected to receive from the Store development team was something more along the lines of this: "As you already know by now, the Store team has been working diligently on combining the App Lab store with the main Store, and the transition is taking a bit longer than we anticipated. While some of the search functionality is working as intended, some of the search and keyword support is not yet fully functional." The bottom line is that I believe it's not too much to ask that the Store development team designate someone to answer app developer questions in a timely and authenticate manner. Meta and the app developers all benefit from open and honest communication regarding the entire Meta Store eco-system. Meta benefits from app developers (sales of apps and headsets), and app developers benefit from the Meta platforms. That's not very hard to grasp. At any rate, I did some extensive testing on a Meta Quest headset, the Meta Horizon Mobile App, and the Meta Horizon Web store, and here is what works and what doesn't, as of today: Meta Quest Headset Search apps using filters Sort by price Filter by genre Show apps under $9.99 This search works and my app appears in the listing! Meta Horizon Mobile App (iPhone, iPad, etc.) Search apps using filters Sort by price Filter by genre Show apps under $9.99 This filtered search returns exactly 1 app: Jungle Zoo Ocean… Search apps using filters Sort by price Show apps under $9.99 This filtered search returns a small subset of available apps (my app does not appear) Search apps using keywords This search does not return apps with the specified keywords Search apps using keywords This search does not work, and apps do not appear using keywords (many developers on the meta forum are reporting this also) Meta Horizon Mobile App Summary Many apps are not discoverable using filters or keywords while using the Meta Horizon App on mobile devices. Meta Horizon Store on the Web Filtered searches on the Meta Horizon Store web portal is also broken, and only returns a subset of apps on the store for any given set of filters.948Views6likes1Comment
