New drivers are required for Meta Quest Link
I've updated to the latest, non-beta for both the newly named 'Meta Horizon Link' software as well as the Quest 2 now on v83.0. The Meta Horizon Link software doesn't seem quite finished and ready for prime time. I have a persistent beam across the top of the app stating "New drivers are required for Meta Quest Link. Update now" - When I click "Update now", the app shuts but nothing more happens. I've waited several minutes thinking it might be doing something silently - it isn't. I then reopen the app which is a preceded by a 'Repair' screen. Getting back into the app, I see that same "Update now" button, click it but now it fails because the required services were stopped in the previous attempt. I restart the services and then the app, click the "Update now" button and we're back to point 1 with it closing the app and nothing happening. I've tried completely removing the app and its registry amends using Revo Uninstaller so I can completely start with a clean slate and the issue persists after a reset and re-installation. Is there a download url to the most recent link driver outside of the app available? Or is this a false notification due to a naming mismatch between the link driver and the newly named Horizon Link software? Many thanks in advance.666Views4likes23CommentsMeta quest
So me and my girlfriend got 2 meta quest 3’s and i forgot when it happened but hers just didn’t boot up, and when it did it was going through the boot loop, i did the shut down method, i did the charge for 2 hours and the factory reset method, and i looked into the device info and it says it’s locked, i have the serial number and i don’t know what else to do besides contacting you.25Views0likes2CommentsPower button stopped working.
I bought a Quest 3S less than 2 weeks ago, and tonight it wouldn’t turn on with the power button. Did all the recommended troubleshooting with holding the buttons to reset. Nothing. Did not try factory reset from the app yet. I only know the power button is the problem because I logged into the app on my phone and tried to cast to it to test it. It cast to the headset, and a message popped up in the headset to press the power button to cast. Tried, but nothing. Frustrating.was hoping for a solution before attempting the factory reset or returning it.10Views0likes1CommentCan't change/edit my Horizon Avatar
Hello, I'm experiencing a frustrating bug in Quest 3: In Horizon Worlds, I can no longer change or edit my avatar (my in-game character)! Even when I'm looking in the mirror in my home apartment, the edit button on the right side of the window doesn't work... nothing happens. Restarting Quest 3 didn't help, and neither did clearing the cache. I've already submitted a bug report several times, but so far, no solution. Have any of you encountered a similar problem, or do you have any ideas on how to fix it? Or do I just have to wait for the next update and hope it works then? Best regards, Tomyi53Views1like4CommentsThe Meta Quest 3 Has Incredible Potential, But Meta Keeps Holding It Back
I’ve been in the Meta Quest ecosystem for years, starting with the Quest 2 that I bought in the U.S. for about $250 on Black Friday. Later, I upgraded to the Meta Quest 3 here in Europe. I purchased the 512GB model at full retail price from Coolblue, which was close to €700 with no discounts. Because of that investment, I expected a polished, next-generation VR experience. Instead, the device feels restricted in ways that make no sense for its price or its potential. To bring friends into VR with me, I gave my Quest 2 to a friend so we could play together. He didn’t enjoy it and passed it to his brother, and now I’m the one trying to convince his brother to use it. I then bought the same friend a Meta Quest 3S, hoping a newer model would change his mind, but he lost interest after a few months and gave it back to me. That says a lot about how empty the ecosystem feels. If Horizon Worlds had more depth, better tools, stronger communities, and easier ways for creators to flourish, people wouldn’t walk away so fast. The biggest problem with the Quest 3 is how creator-unfriendly it is. Streaming to YouTube requires workarounds, third-party apps, and unnecessary steps. Streaming to Facebook is the only direct option, yet very few people use Facebook for live content anymore. The strangest part is that Meta owns Instagram, yet there is still no way to stream directly to Instagram from inside the headset. There’s also no simple option for TikTok, even though VR content performs extremely well on TikTok. If Meta wants VR to grow, they need to empower creators, not limit them. Right now, creators have to fight the system just to show people what VR can do. Inside Horizon Worlds, the gaps become even clearer. VRChat already allows avatar streaming, virtual selfie cameras, expressive tools, and full creative freedom. Horizon Worlds should be leading the industry, not lagging behind it. Instead, it often feels limited, closed off, and inconsistent. Many sessions are filled with trolls, children, and chaotic interactions that make the platform frustrating for adults who bought the device to relax, socialize, or create. Meta needs stronger moderation tools, age controls, and better systems to keep Horizon enjoyable for adults. Productivity is another area that needs improvement. I work remotely, so I wanted to use the Quest for work tasks, but Meta Workrooms and Meta Remote Desktop feel restricted. I had to buy Virtual Desktop just to get the proper functionality. A third-party app should not outperform Meta’s official version on Meta’s own hardware. This shows how much the ecosystem is still unfinished. Even accessories fall short. I bought the Meta Pen (the Logitech stylus collaboration) expecting a deeper creative experience, but many apps don’t correctly display the pen and instead show the standard controller. This breaks immersion and makes it feel like the pen was added to the lineup without developers being prepared to support it. The overall user experience feels inconsistent. Avatar consistency is another issue. Some apps show the updated avatars while others use older versions. This breaks the feeling of a connected metaverse. If Meta wants a unified VR identity system, avatars need to be consistent across all apps, not left to chance. One of the biggest concerns I want to warn buyers about is the replacement process. My original Meta Quest 3 had a strap loop break, so I sent it in expecting a repair. Instead, Meta replaced the device. Normally that would sound positive, but the replacement was not equal in quality. My original Quest 3 had a very clear and sharp screen. Every replacement I received was noticeably blurrier, almost like a downgrade. It felt like Meta was sending refurbished units of lower value instead of matching the premium device I originally purchased. This should not happen to customers who pay full price for a flagship headset. Meta keeps focusing on building the “next headset,” but they are ignoring the problems with the one they already sold to millions of people. The Quest 3 has incredible hardware and could be the strongest VR device on the market, but Meta needs to unlock its potential. They need to improve streaming, open up creator tools, unify avatars, fix Horizon Worlds moderation, push out affordable Quest 2 inventory to grow the user base, improve Workrooms, make the Meta Pen properly supported, and ensure replacement devices match the original quality. I’ve invested time, money, and belief into this platform. I’ve bought multiple headsets for myself, friends, and their family members, and even then, the ecosystem is not strong enough to hold their interest. That’s not a hardware problem. It’s an ecosystem problem. Meta can fix this if they prioritize the users who already believe in their vision. The Quest 3 could be incredible, but Meta needs to stop limiting it and start listening.13Views0likes0CommentsSoftware version 83v from 12.11.25???
Hello, I registered as a PTC some time ago. I didn't like it, so I left again. Of course, I kept the PTC 83v firmware because you can't remove it until the next official version comes out. Today was using the VR and noticed that there's now a stable version 83v. However, my software shows that it was created on "12.11.25". That version wasn't released then, but this December. How am I supposed to understand that?16Views0likes0CommentsNew Quest 3 locked on software update, impossible to fix.
Hi guys, I bought my first Quest 3 today. When I turned it on, it started a software update but it gets stuck there — the device keeps turning on and off without completing the update, and I can’t get past that screen. I haven’t even set up my Meta Horizon account yet, and since I didn’t purchase my Quest 3 through the official Meta store, when I try to enter my device’s serial number on the website it gives me an error. I tried doing the sideload update (the only fix I found on the internet) by holding the volume down and power buttons on the Quest 3. But when I select my device in the browser, I get a message saying: “your device is not supported, please try reconnecting your devices.” Weird cause both my PC and Chrome are detecting it as Quest 3. I also tried disabling adblock, deleting caché and cookies, incognito mode, other browsers, other PCs, other cables, connecting it on different times, etc. There is not a single thing I haven't tried. (Every single one of these attempts were done while having 50% battery. There’s nothing else I can do, literally — I’ve already tried factory reset several times as well. Do I need to return my device? I'm submitting this post so support can help me. I'm quite desperate, I don't see my issue anywhere on google and I spoke to support via Whatsapp and everything they told me to try, I already had.810Views1like10Commentsv81 passthrough update thoughts?
Just updated my quest 3 to v81 3 days ago. Personally, I absolutely despise the new passthrough. The "see your surroundings" is super unnecessary, and doesn't even really improve convenience. I much preferred the old passthrough. Just a double tap and I'm back in home, while in passthrough. I could walk wherever I wanted, then go back and resume with a double tap. Now? I have to have this annoying "resume" popup constantly on my screen, can't even access my menu without exiting passthrough and then pressing the menu button, then manually activating passthrough again. And when I walk out of the boundary, it now keeps pestering me with "create a new boundary here?" With no option for "no." I absolutely despise this update. I really, really want an option to just go back to v79 passthrough. And even then, the switch to passthrough and back feels so much slower. I don't want to see a pink abyss when I double tap on my headset! Old one was so much better. I regret updating so badly. Please, Meta, add an option for old passthrough. Don't force this inferior, "updated" version on us, please. sorry about the rant, just had to get it out of me. Wanted to know if anyone else shares my frustrations.52Views1like2CommentsQuest 3 Hand Tracking not reliably starting
Since upgrading to the Quest 3 I'm having trouble getting the hand tracking to start when I wake the headset and when I start an app that uses hand tracking. Frequently when I put on the headset, waving my hands in front of the cameras does nothing. Also at times when the hand tracking is working in the main interface, when I launch an app that can use hand tracking, the app doesn't show my hands being tracked. The only thing I've found so far that seems to work is picking up one or both controllers so they become active and visible--then putting them down when I see the hand tracking is in effect. Unsuccessful things I've tried are changing the hand tracking delay setting, putting it in and out of sleep, and restarting the headset. Continuing to wait and wave does nothing. Previously with the Quest 2, I could just put on the headset and wave my hands, then the hand tracking would start reliably and stay active as long as I didn't start moving a controller around. Everything else about the Quest 3 seems to be better except for this. Is this a new bug that's cropped up in a system update? Something that only effects the Quest 3? A weird change in the OS that expects us to pick up our controllers before hand tracking will start? Is there a fix for this?6.6KViews4likes30CommentsWhere are the 3D movies!
Seriously—there’s now a dedicated “TV” app with a movie section, including a couple of 3D trailers for Avatar, yet there’s no section for 3D movies at all. What kind of dropped ball is this? I should be able to open that app, select 3D movies as a main option, and watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 3D on my Quest 3. VR is perfect for 3D movies—so how is this still not nailed in the Meta/Quest/Horizon/TV experience? At this point, it’s just a sick joke.120Views0likes8Comments
