Share some of your favorite songs, artists, ideas, creations, etc. Here's mine... I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites. Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once. It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBQ2305fLeA For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them. I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wADSBoNkGMI A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark. I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa2il_zHFm8139KViews9likes907CommentsFavorite Video game OSTs
I know that we already have a fantastic music thread, but when I'm working, I often enjoy listening to video game music. I was curious to know what everyone's top picks for video game soundtracks are! Here are a couple of my personal favorites: I'm really looking forward to hearing some awesome tracks from everyone. Who knows, maybe your music will even inspire me to start playing the game if I haven't already!5.7KViews15likes11CommentsGarage Band Hero for Oculus Quest - Idea
Good day, I was looking under the music category for a game where you could learn how to play the drums by a simon says method of lights lighting up the right drum or symbol, using a practice room and then the final level is playing on a "real stage" for a band of your choice, say AC/DC or Sade. But you would see the band in front of you, the crowd behind the flashing lights and basically feel you are really on stage with the band, having to play that instrument correctly for their set. Even if you just created a game where I could select an instrument off the shelf and like the $15.00 toy violin with batteries, strum it or touch the wand to the wires to play the correct note every time, make it feel I'm actually playing correctly by just strumming, but with high fidelity sound vs. a toy. Somebody think this has legs and want to give it a go? Just make sure to add me to the Alpha :smile:576Views0likes0CommentsMusician's Thread
I am wondering if there are any other musicians on these forums - if so what do you play? Do you write / record music? What got you into playing music? What is your gear? I play bass guitar, guitar, synth and function as the audio engineer for my band. It was Nirvana and Much Music (Canadian MTV) that got me into music - though I moved on from that influence early on after starting to learn how to play. I started on bass guitar at 13 and playing guitar at around 22 (I am 31 now) - when we play live I function as the bass player and in the studio I remain multi-instrumental focusing on support parts. My main gear is: '97 Fender Precision Lyte Deluxe Ampeg Micro-VR with DI Ampeg V6B Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 running through Logic X25KViews0likes175CommentsLive music venue project help needed!
Hello Oculus dev community! My name is Thomas Ryan, also known as Sound Psychologist. Recently i have been trying to get into VR development, but am having a hard time finding a god piece of software to use to create my project. My project is a 3d music performance app. most of the "VR Concerts" i have seen are either camera streams, or downloadable music videos. I'm trying to make a tool that allows anyone to create performance spaces, perform shows without too much hassle, and to create really sick visuals. The app will also include realistic speaker options, allowing for the design of realistic audio spaces that mimic real life concert venues. This should accomplish 3 things: 1) [User/attendee side]-- someone can use the app to attend music concerts in a 3d space. 2)[Creator(audio) side]-- a music artist can easily install the app and or a VST into his computer/DAW and stream the audio to the in app speaker systems in real time. 3)[venue creator]-- the app will allow you to design a music venue, complete with speaker placement, and visual display panels, lights, fog etc. 4)[streaming]-- and finally, the app will output a 360 stream for concerts so that it can be streamed to youtube in 360. i have no idea where to start, as i am primarily a musician. I would be MORE than happy to start a project with anyone who will help with this!! Thank you so much for you tme, and let me know your thoughts (: --Thomas (Sound Psychologist)1.7KViews0likes6CommentsAudio on the Oculus Quest has faster speed and higher pitch when exported from UE4
Hi, I am working with Unreal Engine 4.22.3 and Oculus Quest. The voice of my characters (wav files) is fine when I test on my desktop through UE4 or any other software. However, it is not the same when I export to the Oculus Quest. In the Quest the voices are faster and with a higher pitch. They sound like chipmunks. What can be causing this? I'm exporting my audio from Audible as a "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM" and I simply drag and drop the file into Unreal Engine Content folder to import it. Here is a screenshot of the details from the audio file. I hope this has an easy answer. It is the first time I put a voice to actors in VR. Your help would be very much appreciated! I'm developing a multiplayer VR app in Unity with Photon. I want to have background music which is in sync for all players. But what's happening with what I've tried so far is that the music starts from the beginning for each player as they enter the game. So for example if the first player to enter is at 30" into the music (having started at 0"), the music will continue playing from 30" for the first player but from 0" for the second player. Instead I want the music to be playing at 30" (or whatever the time is for the first player) when the second player (and third and fourth, etc.) enters. Can anyone assist?1.5KViews0likes4CommentsHow Do I Listen To My Music Library from my iPhone??
I simply refuse to believe there is no way to play my music library on the Go. I have seen a few visualizers mention Spotify or Soundcloud but I have NO INTENTION of signing up for yet another BS service trying to sell me crap when I have 100gb of music that I own!! Being able to play MY music (since the device is connected to my phone anyway) with a cool visualizer running should be a basic built in feature from day one shouldn't it??? What am I missing here???405Views1like0Comments
