The Music Thread
Share some of your favorite songs, artists, ideas, creations, etc. Here's mine... I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites. Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once. It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBQ2305fLeA For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them. I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wADSBoNkGMI A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark. I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa2il_zHFm8140KViews9likes915CommentsFavorite Video game OSTs
I know that we already have a fantastic music thread, but when I'm working, I often enjoy listening to video game music. I was curious to know what everyone's top picks for video game soundtracks are! Here are a couple of my personal favorites: I'm really looking forward to hearing some awesome tracks from everyone. Who knows, maybe your music will even inspire me to start playing the game if I haven't already!

I am wondering if there are any other musicians on these forums - if so what do you play? Do you write / record music? What got you into playing music? What is your gear? I play bass guitar, guitar, synth and function as the audio engineer for my band. It was Nirvana and Much Music (Canadian MTV) that got me into music - though I moved on from that influence early on after starting to learn how to play. I started on bass guitar at 13 and playing guitar at around 22 (I am 31 now) - when we play live I function as the bass player and in the studio I remain multi-instrumental focusing on support parts. My main gear is: '97 Fender Precision Lyte Deluxe Ampeg Micro-VR with DI Ampeg V6B Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 running through Logic X25KViews0likes175Comments- 803Views0likes0Comments
Music and record stores in VR
Wouldn't it be awesome if in VR you could take your digital music collection and turn them into vinyl records you could play on a virtual record player in your VR home? Now of course the audio wouldn't feature the analog distortion, it would just be in that form factor for aesthetics. You could store all your records on a shelf or around your VR home/apartment and build your ultimate dream album collection. Now imagine this, what if there were virtual record stores you could walk into and browse their collection and then purchase some albums for yourself. They would be instantly sent to a folder in variety of formats (preferably flac) and automatically placed in your VR home or a VR shopping cart. The stores could feature multiplayer too so you could walk in and chat with other music fans and maybe discover something new that way or make friends. I really hope this becomes a thing.838Views0likes0Comments
