Black Screen when using Virtual Desktop in Oculus PC App
UPDATE: Solution found by Hansaplastique! THANK YOU! It seems this method forces Intel(R) UHD Graphics to render for OVRServer_x64.exe. At least, that's what's selected under "Power Saving" for my PC. My games still run fine using this method, since they still use the GPU. The dashboard/OVRServer doesn't utilize the GPU while in use. Changing the preferred processor in Nvidia Control panel for OVRServer_x64.exe does NOT solve the issue, although I thought it would effectively accomplish the same thing. Many thanks to Hansaplastique. You're a real gamer. I made a video tutorial for the solution for anyone confused. https://youtu.be/H_WbAHVV7o4 __________________ Original Post Below -------------------- Oculus app isn't showing desktop, just black screen. Though, I can still control the cursor with my controller. I have a Rift S and a Quest 2 and both have the issue. So far, I've restarted, repaired install, and installed latest graphics card drivers but have had no success. I also completely uninstalled and re-installed and am still having the issue. Currently blaming the recent update. My Quest 2 is running on v. 27, because v. 28 is not yet available to me. But I doubt that's issue because my Rift S also has the problem. OLD 4/25/21: I've been working with Oculus Support, but so far no amount of troubleshooting has solved the issue. My working theories are: 1. Nvidia Optimus laptops 2. The new update just glitched out the integrated Virtual Desktop in the Oculus PC application. This issue is not present on my Desktop computer. I run VR on a MSI GL75 Leopard 10SFK-029. I'm still able to play games, and the black screen is my only symptom. CPU: i7-10750H GPU: 2070 (mobile) RAM: 32gb at 2933 MHzSolved68KViews7likes33CommentsUncertain Graphics Card Compatibility
Just upgraded from an old sluggish laptop with a Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics card to a i7 Dell Laptop, purely with the intention to get a much better gaming experience in VR. But, only to discover that the Nvidia Quadro T2000 GPU, is not compatible with the air link. With it working on my last I assumed it would work with this. I've seen suggestions that Quadro T2000 isn't a high enough spec, but how is true if it can run on other lower spec GPU's and other Nvidia GPU similar to the T2000? Meta only state a hand full of compatible GPU's on their website, making it impossible to know what other GPU's are compatible. This is meant to be a user-friendly experience for almost everyone, I shouldn't be gambling on whether I can connect to airlink.662Views0likes0CommentsNvidia control panel missing + Chrome not saving passwords
After installing latest Nvidia drivers i get message on desktop icon tray that the Nvidia Control panel is missing, i tried reinstalling drivers but nothing. What could cause that? Also noticed now Google Chrome is not saving password anymore. I would turn my pc on and load up chrome and go on Facebook, youtube or twitter expecting to be logged in already but im signed out and settings not saved. Not sure if a recent windows update might of done something or i was using Oculus Debug tool around the time restart as administrator as i had trouble updating to V12967Views0likes1CommentMin Spec Questions for Developers
Hello! Am trying to address min-spec compatibility with a gtx 970. From reading the forums here and elsewhere, most advice seems to be 'find a gtx 970 to test on'. makes sense. however, they are harder to find now, overpriced because they are somewhat dated given the life-cycle of graphics cards, and i'm also curious to know if the vr market still has ample gtx 970's in action? My alternative was potentially to test on a gtx 1060-3gb which seems to have similar specs compared against a gtx 970 based on gpu.userbenchmark.com, (and what i happen to have sitting around) but also not sure if those test results with lost frame capture tool, etc, will yield accurate results. advice in the matter is appreciated! also, any thoughts on when min-spec might be updated since the gtx 970 was from 2014? [EDIT] testing on the 1060 3GB card was fine to pass nvidia, however this doesn't pass the amd spec, so will continue to look into AMD testing for min-spec.544Views0likes0Comments
