Loud, long beep from my Oculus Quest
Hello. I couldn't seem to find much content on this issue online, so I'm looking to discuss it here. I bought this second-hand Oculus Quest from someone that has been using it until recently around mid August, and have been using it for development in my research. I would spend around 8 hours developing per day, and I did notice that the headset would get hot sometimes. A few days ago, a system alert notifying that the device's fan wasn't working properly. I was worried about it so I stopped using it for long hours at the time, but when I turned the headset on and tried putting on my head, it made this loud, singular beeping noise that never seemed to end. The sound stopped when I turned the headset off. After a while, I turned the headset on and it didn't make any noise, but I was too scared to put it on my head, so I just turned it off again. Is this headset dangerous to use? Can I still keep using it? I'm really troubled on this because my project with a deadline will really be stuck because of this problem. I would be thankful if even just one person would reply to this T-T83Views0likes1CommentUnity Game in GearVR Overheating and Stale Frames
The only time it goes up to 60FPS is on the loading screens. During gameplay there are a ton of stale frames. The game is fully playable and though the frame rate is low it's functional, fun, etc... But to meet the requirements of the samsung gear vr store, this game needs to have 60FPS and not cause the phone to overheat after 15 minutes or so. I've tried all sorts of different things including but not limited to: throttling CPU/GPU enabling/disabling: MSAA, VSync, Occlusion Culling, ... In the Unity profiler there are minimal spikes but the few that did happen (and they happen very rarely) were: NavMeshManager.WaitForJobGroup and ParticleSystem.EndUpdateAll The stale frames do stop if I pause the game (game has a pause function) and then it runs smoothly (~60FPS) until something??? happens and the stale frames come back and it runs at 20FPS again. I think the overheating and the low frame rate might be separate problems but might also be related. Have been messing around with different builds and different settings for weeks. Would like to ship this game now. Please help.3.7KViews0likes7CommentsOverheating issue in app development
I am facing an issue of overheating on simply playing a 360 video in Unity with basic pause/unpause UI and audios. It just lets video play for about 2 to 3 times. We target it to be played at least 6 to 7 times. Its just a 3:33 mins video. with codec h264. (265 is not supported in Unity VideoPlayer). I am using Unity 5.6.1 and testing in Samsung Gear VR. Are there any oculus settings I am missing? Please, anyone who can help me with this? Thanks in advance.414Views0likes0Comments
