Screen goes out randomly during a game, audio and in game tracking still works
My oculus 2 screen just randomly shuts off when using the link cable. No warning of any kind. Just bought the cable too last week. Ports are good, connection is a solid 1.4Gbs, and I even use the velcro straps to hold the connector on the headset. Even took some extra straps and kept the cable coiled as it was packed. Game continues to play and I hear the audio no problem, hell the headset still tracks in game from what can been seen on the mirror window on my screen. This only occurs when using the link for roughly an hour. All settings are automatically applied through both the headset and the game. The headset does become warm with use but there is no overheating warning either. The oculus' right lense is damaged and is completely black not working, but the left lense is fine. I've had it broken for a few months and I tried to fix it and message customer support but I don't have a receipt of it so I can't do anything about it. I really want to be able to use it again.645Views0likes1CommentS8 Overhating and showing warning after last update.
My s8 was fine before the last update from oculus. Now, it gives me overheat waring in about 5 minutes of use. Is there any way to rollback or dowgrade the app so i can use it without any problems? That's inacceptable. 5 minutes of use?? And my screen is on 50% brightness, everything but the wifi is off. Even bluetooth.795Views0likes0CommentsUnity Game in GearVR Overheating and Stale Frames
The only time it goes up to 60FPS is on the loading screens. During gameplay there are a ton of stale frames. The game is fully playable and though the frame rate is low it's functional, fun, etc... But to meet the requirements of the samsung gear vr store, this game needs to have 60FPS and not cause the phone to overheat after 15 minutes or so. I've tried all sorts of different things including but not limited to: throttling CPU/GPU enabling/disabling: MSAA, VSync, Occlusion Culling, ... In the Unity profiler there are minimal spikes but the few that did happen (and they happen very rarely) were: NavMeshManager.WaitForJobGroup and ParticleSystem.EndUpdateAll The stale frames do stop if I pause the game (game has a pause function) and then it runs smoothly (~60FPS) until something??? happens and the stale frames come back and it runs at 20FPS again. I think the overheating and the low frame rate might be separate problems but might also be related. Have been messing around with different builds and different settings for weeks. Would like to ship this game now. Please help.3.7KViews0likes7CommentsOculus go overheating after 15 min (not charging)
No matter what i play/watch, my oculus go keeps overheating after ~15 minutes (and im not charging it). i have had it on altspace, youtube and jurassic world:blue. it even crashed at some point (screen flicker, and black screen but audio keeps working) i couldn't find a similar situation on google, all overheating problems seemed to be related to the charger. am i missing something or is it just a broken device ? thanks in advance697Views0likes1CommentOverheating issue in app development
I am facing an issue of overheating on simply playing a 360 video in Unity with basic pause/unpause UI and audios. It just lets video play for about 2 to 3 times. We target it to be played at least 6 to 7 times. Its just a 3:33 mins video. with codec h264. (265 is not supported in Unity VideoPlayer). I am using Unity 5.6.1 and testing in Samsung Gear VR. Are there any oculus settings I am missing? Please, anyone who can help me with this? Thanks in advance.408Views0likes0CommentsIs there a way to access CPU and/or GPU temperature?
We'd like to track temperature for profiling / QA purposes, but I can't find a way to access the temperature value that we see in logcat. We are using UE4, which does get the battery temperature, but getting the CPU and/or GPU temp would be ideal729Views0likes1CommentHelp Fixing Overheating Galaxy S6, Profiling Unity
We've had issues with a Unity app overheating on S6 GearVR. The app has a background room (6 quad cube), and two planes that play a video using the FX/Flare shader, which makes a very cool hologram effect. The overheating seems to happen even if the video isn't playing, just having the transparent planes up seems to do it. Here are some shots from the Unity Profiler that was running via WiFi to capture the GearVR in use. Are there any red flags in the data? I'm going to try throttling down the CPU and CPU to 0,0... setting it to 1/2 didn't help. Video is 2048x2048, 24fps, 19mbps, split over two planes using UV mapping.
