Link needing PC restart to reconnect
Hello, I've started having this issue just recently, as it was working fine before. Basically the meta link would work fine until 5-10 minutes in, then the headset display would freeze, though the audio and head movement did not. Restarting the headset and re-plugging the link cable in don't work, and if I were to disconnect the horizon link, then no matter what I did, the link would not connect anymore. The only way to get the link started again that I've found is to just do a full PC restart. I'm using a Quest 3 and a brand new link cable, but I doubt those are the issue. I've tried some fixes I've seen on here but none worked. And before you tell me about AirLink, no, it's too unstable for me to use.Solved57Views1like3CommentsMeta Link freezes after a few seconds
After installing latest Meta Horizon Windows app update (85.0.0.239.552), the display inside headset freezes (sometimes goes black, similar to when proximity sensor kicks in, but while still wearing VR headset) after a few seconds after establishing cabled link (official 5m cable). Have to restart PC and re-establish Link to get it to work again, but then same happens after a few seconds. Can still hear audio inside headset, and when using games it seems to do head tracking (monitor screen updates, but not inside headset). This also happens inside the Meta Link view (grey environment with grid floor and ceiling inside VR headset after establishing link). Firmware in VR headset is also on latest version, This happened after updating Meta Horizon Windows app on 3rd/4th March. Before this it was working perfect. Have tested this on 4 different PC's, with 3 different Meta Quest 3 headsets and one Quest Pro, with same result. Hardware on test PC's: Windows 11, different i9 processors (13th/14th gen, Intel Core Ultra 9), RTX 5090 laptop, RTX 5070 Ti Desktop, RTX 4090 desktop. 64GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers 595.71 WHQL driver + latest Windows updates158Views1like3CommentsMeta Quest 3 Black Screen After Logo and Firmware Arrow — Hundreds of Us Have This Problem
Many Meta Quest 3 owners are experiencing the same serious issue after what appears to be a faulty firmware update. The headset starts normally, shows the Meta logo, then displays the down-arrow firmware symbol as if it’s updating. After that, the screen goes completely black and never turns back on. This problem has affected hundreds of users across multiple platforms, including Meta’s own community forums, Reddit, and Discord groups. Everyone describes the same sequence: Meta logo, firmware arrow loading, then a permanent black screen. People have already tried every official fix that Meta recommends: Rebooting the headset. Performing a full hard reset using the power and volume buttons. Installing the manual firmware update through the Meta update tool on a computer. Even after completing all of these steps successfully, the headset remains unusable. The issue clearly points to a defective firmware update or a corrupted boot process caused by the update itself, not user error or damage. Some customers have received replacements, while others have been denied support because their device is out of warranty. That inconsistency is unacceptable. A firmware defect that originates from Meta should not depend on warranty status. This needs to be recognized as a widespread product issue. Meta should take responsibility, publicly acknowledge the problem, and provide free repairs or replacements to all affected customers. Everyone affected should post here and share: When the problem started and what update version it followed. Any videos or photos showing the black screen sequence. What Meta Support said or offered in response. If enough reports are collected, this could draw the attention of consumer protection agencies, the media, or legal firms willing to pursue a class action. The goal is not to complain, but to get a fair solution for everyone who has been left with a bricked headset due to a faulty update. This issue is not isolated. It’s widespread, and it needs to be addressed now.918Views3likes9CommentsLink doesn't work at all after the new update

A recent update to the Link app on Windows PC broke the launching Fixer.exe in the \Oculus\software\support folder. Previously this would check the health of the app by checking if the Link OVRservice was installed and running. If not running, it would start the service before launching the Oculus-Client.exe in the \Oculus\support\client folder. the update renamed Oculus-Client.exe to Client.exe Fixer.exe now fails with "can't reach Link service" even if the service is installed and running properly. Clicking "repair app" fails. Workarounds: You can change your shortcut for Fixer.exe to Client.exe. or If you are like me and seldom use Link/Air Link and have set the startup for the OVRservice to manual so it doesn't start with Windows: Create a batch/cmd file "LinkLaunch.bat/.cmd" in any folder or your desktop net start OVRService timeout /t 2 C:\Oculus\Support\oculus-client\client.exe exit Right click on the .bat/.cmd file and pick properties. on the shortcut tab add "cmd /c " before the path to the file (note the space after "/c". So target should look something like this "cmd /c "C:\batch\LinkLaunch.cmd") Change "Run" to "Minimized" if you don't want the command window open on desktop. on the same shortcut tab click on "Advanced" and check "Run as administrator". The net command needs administrator rights in order to run. If the account you are logged into does not have admin rights you will be prompted to supply credentials of an account that does. *Notes: you may have to adjust the timeout time of 2 seconds depending on your system in line 2. Change the drive letter in line 3 to where the Link app installed. By adding the "cmd /c " to the target you can pin the shortcut to the Start Menu or the Taskbar. If you run this batch/cmd file and the service is already running the command will be ignored without pausing the file.256Views0likes1CommentMeta Horizon Link bricked
Recently I tried updating my meta horizon app and I got the error restart your pc or contact support, I restarted and got the same error. Now the installer won't install the application properly aka I get the same error and the link app is gone. I figured it was worth a try here for help. For context I didn't use the app for 7-10 days then I launched pcvr and it was unstable, saw an update, tried to install it, and the app bricked itself. I really don't know what to do anymore, I've had countless problems with this app and I have to use it cause airlink, wireless steamvr is just too unstable.130Views1like5CommentsHorizon Link Update Error
When I launch meta horizon link on my pc, it tells me that I don't have enough storage for the app that I need 12.69 GBs of storage but I have 30 GBs free on my computer. I have no idea if this is causing the error but when I launch pcvr on the meta quest it tells me critical error that I need to update the app but there is no update. It allows me to play but I'm assuming that this is what is causing the lag, I just don't know how get the app the update. Let me know if you know how to fix or have a question that I need to answer.56Views0likes4Comments
