Colliders and Positional Tracking on Oculus Quest.
Hello, I'm doing the porting on Quest (from an Oculus Go project). My game is based on free locomotion (a sort of walking inside a labyrinth). So my player is surrounded by ‘wall’ colliders. Now, there was no problem with the Oculus Go, because it was 3DOF, but with the Quest, if I move myself inside the user play area (using my own feet and not through the controller) , the consequence is that the player moves through walls… :( Is there a way to disable just the positional tracking in Unity? Thanks a lot! Valerio892Views0likes0CommentsCannot find any information on how to make objects move when you do a specific motion
I wasn't really sure how to title this but for I am a new developer using Unity and the Oculus SDK and I am trying to figure how to make an object spawn and move when the player makes a fist and punches. However I cannot find anything on moving objects based on a hand motion. I keep trying to search different things but I am unable to find anything on the topic. Kind of like a force push kind of thing but the object will spawn when the motion happens and not already be in the scene. If anyone has any suggestions of things for me to look up I would really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I know I have seen this kind of thing in games before but I cannot find any information online about it so I am assuming that I am just not looking for the correct name of it.564Views0likes0CommentsRare Crashes
As our product matures my team and I are starting to work toward stabilizing it. It had some issues that we cleared out. But there are some issues that are hard to track. We are using Unity with Oculus Integrations. The application is relatively stable but still has some issues. One thing is that the apps sometimes: - crash and close - freeze - present black screen but continue to work - crash on startup These seem to happen more often in smaller rooms with less distinguishable features or on places with a lot of people traffic. The app would sometimes crash on startup or resume. Or freeze in the middle of an experience. We have tried to collect crash logs but most of the time the crash logs will indicate that the app tried to "resume" and the ActivitiManager is killing it due timeout. Sometimes the app will go on background and present "tracking lost" overlay and then crash when going back. Here is some accompanying adb traces that we have managed to capture. *** This seems to happen when tracking dies: 2019/11/26 13:03:16.032 14466 14632 Warn [CT]: VIPER: StateBuffer: Could not get velocity from buffer. The issues seem to happen more often when switching on and off the headset in presence of network noise and moving people. I am trying to set the Oculus Go's and Oculus Quest's height manually (Quest in tracking disabled state). Since those are then 3-DOF headsets, this should be easy. Unfortunately, using Oculus Integrations' OVRPlugin, depending on whether I set Unity's InputTracking.disablePositionalTracking to true or false, this is possible or not. This means even though the two headsets do not support positional tracking (hardware or setting), they fix the camera to about (0f, 1,7f, 0f). I then tried to read OVRPlugin.positionSupported, but that reads true. Why is that? hardware does not even support it, or tracking support was disabled. What I want is: - If the HMD is capable and configured to support positional tracking (Quest, Rift...), I want to use it - If it's not capable or tracking is disabled (Oculus Go, disabled tracking on Quest), I don't want anything to override the camera position What do I have to do, or, why does this not work out of the box as expected? I'm using: Unity 2018.4.15f1 Oculus Integration 14.0 Oculus Android 1.38.6715Views0likes0CommentsMake camera stick to one position
I'm making a game where the player is stationary. I want the player to be able to look around, but not move their head in the game. So if they're sitting down looking at the center of a dart board, and then stand up, they should still be looking at the center of the dart board. And even if they moved around outside the game, their head would still be at the same location in the game. How can I accomplish this? Which Ovr* scripts should I study closer? Maybe relevant: I have a LocalAvatarWithGrab as a child of a GameObject with a Rigidbody. I move the Rigidbody by using my own script.764Views0likes1CommentDiscounted motion of virtual camera in Unity 2017.3 when moving Rift CV1
Hi, I'm using the Rift CV1 to build a flight simulation game based on Unity 2017.3. But a problem haunts me for a long time, that I move my headset 1 meter forward while the camera in the unity scene only move around 0.3 meter, how to scale the positional tracking to match the motion of camera in unity to the motion in real world? The Oculus SDK in my unity project is 1.18.1533Views0likes1CommentHow to set the IPD (without using the Rift Sensor) correctly?
I`m trying to increase the area in which in can use my CV1. To achieve this I`ve tried to get rid of the CV1`s tracking and exchange it with data I receive from tracking my CV1 with a motion capturing system. I stream this data to Unity 3D, using a Unity 3D Plug-In, provided by the Motive developers. I`ve already given up on the rotation though, since I`m missing to much of the CV1`s correction software. And well, the rotation is not bound to the Rift Sensor anyways and cables can be extended. What`s left now is the position of my CV1. I want to exchange the position tracking data the sensor delivers with that of the mocap system. This works fine (I can just turn of pos tracking using the OVRManager script on the OVRCameraRig), but while I get the position of the WHOLE HMD(or to be precise it`s center), I have no information about the IPD(eye distance), which results in divergence. I`ve found out that I can interact with the position of the eye anchors, so I´ve tried to add a distance of 66mm manually, but this won`t do a thing once I put the HMD on(works fine in the Unity preview though, which is confusing). The code looks like this: trackerAnchor.localRotation = tracker.orientation; centerEyeAnchor.localRotation = VR.InputTracking.GetLocalRotation(VR.VRNode.CenterEye); leftEyeAnchor.localRotation = monoscopic ? centerEyeAnchor.localRotation : VR.InputTracking.GetLocalRotation(VR.VRNode.LeftEye); rightEyeAnchor.localRotation = monoscopic ? centerEyeAnchor.localRotation : VR.InputTracking.GetLocalRotation(VR.VRNode.RightEye); trackerAnchor.localPosition = tracker.position; centerEyeAnchor.localPosition = VR.InputTracking.GetLocalPosition(VR.VRNode.CenterEye); leftEyeAnchor.localPosition = VR.InputTracking.GetLocalPosition(VR.VRNode.LeftEye) + new Vector3(-0.033f, 0, 0); rightEyeAnchor.localPosition = VR.InputTracking.GetLocalPosition(VR.VRNode.RightEye)+ new Vector3(0.033f, 0, 0); Also I`ve tried to use the FakeTracking script provided here: https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/450853/#Comment_450853 But nothing seems to work. Am I missing something? Is there more to the sensor than just position and IPD? Hi We are currently running the Oculus Rift on an exhibition, However we have experienced some issue with the heads positional tracking.. From time to time (quite random from what we are aware of) people trying our experience gets "taller" in the experience (like noticeably much taller, a few feet maybe).. this is a problem for us since we have built a driving-simulator, and this needs to match perfectly with where the steering wheel is attached. It all worked great during testing when we were testing in another room, however, at the exhibition things took a different turn.. We are using Unity to develop the application, and since its quite random.. the only think we can come to think of is that the Oculus for some reason decides to re-calibrate itself or something.. Anyone had an experience of this issue before? Any way to solve it?744Views0likes2CommentsChange "Tracker sensor" device script (Unity 5.4.0f2)
Hey all, I wan't to turn off the "reset position" in Unity when the Tracking sensor has moved 22.5 degrees. We are a company who build a device for walking in scénes. At times we want to rotate the "Tracking sensor" around the player. Every time we do that now, the "Tracking sensor" device reset the hmd. This gives a stutter and rotates the scene too. How can we disable the function in Unity 5.4.0f2. (we used the native Oculus option in Unity1.1KViews1like4CommentsHow to view the tracker view cone(s)
I've written up a small post on how to render the Oculus Tracker(s) view cone so you can see the current play space. http://talesfromtherift.com/tracker-view-cone-revisited/ It also shows you how to display a simple camera 3d model too. All credit to Oculus for adding the TrackerAnchor to OVRCameraRig which makes this whole process so much easier! Peter581Views1like0Comments
