Win 11 Link app hand tracking support
It's been a while since people have talked about this, but now windows 11 is currently the largest in market share value compared to other platforms. Windows 10 has the ability to use hand tracking while using the link cable but windows 11 just... doesn't? It doesn't seem to make sense. I also want to clarify that I have used hand tracking through third party apps (steam link specifically) but those kill my performance as my Wi-Fi can't keep up with the bandwidth needed. I would prefer to use my link cable but currently there's just no option unless I go back to windows 10... but that would require me to redownload EVERYTHING on my computer and possibly end up losing files. Yes I play games where hand tracking is supported (this often gets brought up in discussions about the topic, games that support it exist, that's not the issue. the link app doesn't support it, the games do. I play vrchat for example). I would just like to know if meta has any plans to actually update the functionality across the board for their link app. The last notable change was a redesign of the desktop interface, and before that the only thing I noticed was them killing the watch (it still doesn't work, it's like the object was deleted). I know it's not the most important thing but killing off such a tool is kinda harsh, especially when 3rd party resources can handle such just fine, and so can windows 10 apparently. I'd prefer the stability and quality of the cable while ALSO having hand tracking, steam link causes my game to freeze periodically and the quality drops to that of a potato (almost low enough for me to count the pixels). Anyways, I've covered what I needed. I don't expect to get a response that actually fits what I'm asking for unless some developer for meta comes across this.145Views0likes7CommentsQuest 3 - connects, but PC no longer sees it (v85)
SITUATION: When I connect my Q3 to laptop, (as I've done for years), it beeps, and charges, but doesn't pop-up in explorer (nor show the access files dialogue box). BACKGROUND: I have used windows explorer for years with no issue across multiple Quest headsets. I don't believe I have changed any settings. I have also looked through Quest device settings (and web), and can't find the way to force the access files pop-up. [possible solution?] PURPOSE: My intent is to download recorded content from my device and edit before publishing to YouTube, etc. HOW TO REPLICATE: Plug in Q3 to PC/laptop with trusted cable. NOTES: Currently on v85 Connecting to my PC brings up the charging indicator light as expected Connecting makes the affirmation beep Link still works (can see desktop, play VR games) SideQuest works The usual pop-up "allow connected device to access files" doesn't show I recently had a temporary warning that it detected water in the port. Yet that was random (no where near water), and went away within 30 minutes. Rebooting both devices doesn't change anything. I've spent a few hours trying to figure this out, and would love any ideas you have.334Views0likes2CommentsQuest 3S no longer showing in File Explorer
I recently downloaded Meta Quest Developer Hub, and now, my headset no longer is shown on file explorer. I've tried turning on and off developer mode (both on the headset and on my phone), different cables, and some other stuff. An intresting thing is that is does show up in the hub though so maybe the hub is stopping file explorer from connected? That's my idea but I don't know how I would fix it anyways. Help appreciated, thanks!167Views1like2CommentsQuest 3 — Still no PC audio when using Link via USB-C (2025)
Hi everyone, I am reopening this issue because it still happens in 2025. My Quest 3 loses all PC audio when using Link cable. Windows shows “Oculus Virtual Audio Device” and the audio meter moves, but there is no sound in the headset. Cable has been tested by the app and works at full speed. If I use the “Repair” option in the Meta/Oculus PC app, the audio works again. But after a few days, the problem returns and I have to run Repair again. This happens almost every week. This makes the headset annoying to use because repairing the app takes several minutes and should not be necessary for basic audio output. Why this is a problem: -Repairing the app every time: takes several minutes -closes services and restarts the PC app -sometimes resets parts of the configuration -shouldn’t be necessary for such a basic feature What I already checked: -Oculus Virtual Audio Device set as default in Windows -Volume and sound device settings are correct -Good USB 3 cable and port -Quest audio works fine in standalone mode -Windows 11 fully updated -Meta PC app fully updated What I am looking for: Are other users still experiencing this? Does anyone know what keeps breaking the audio driver? Is there a permanent fix that avoids repairing the app constantly? Meta support: when will this known issue be solved??? Thanks in advance for any help or new information.419Views2likes6CommentsNvidia RTX 5090
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of purchasing a high-performance computer for some simulations to run on my Quest 3 via Link. I found a PC that would have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, but I couldn't find anything about compatibility in the official specifications. Can anyone help me? Thanks to anyone who can help me.48Views0likes0CommentsMETA DITCH THE DASH!
Hi Meta team, As a new PCVR user, I’ve got to be honest — the way PC Link works with the Dash interface just isn’t doing anyone any favors. For people like me who just want a fast, clean connection, Dash feels like an extra layer we don’t need. It slows things down, takes up resources, and honestly, SteamVR could handle the connection perfectly well on its own. For hardcore PC VR players, it’s a solution to a problem that wasn’t there to begin with. I get that Dash is part of your vision for a unified experience, but it ends up feeling more like an obstacle — and yeah, another storefront we didn’t ask for. When we’re wired in for max performance, we just want the smoothest, fastest link possible. Sure, Virtual Desktop is great, but not everyone has a rock‑solid internet setup. Some of us prefer to avoid even the smallest bit of Wi‑Fi lag and push as much data as possible over a wired connection. My suggestion: Give us a “Pro” or “Advanced” mode that lets PC VR enthusiasts bypass Dash completely and go straight through SteamVR. Keep the full experience for folks who like it, but give your core audience the streamlined option they’ve been asking for. Thanks for hearing me out — I think this one change could really win over the VR community that’s been with you from the start. ~Vlad36Views0likes0CommentsQuest 3 No longer works on PC VR, and is COMPETELY BROKEN
so a few days ago I changed the OpenXR on my main PC to Oculus from Windows MixedReality just to get pavlov vr running, and ever since I did that it has completely broken my PC VR, now in standalone mode the Quest 3 works completely fine with no issues what so ever but once its linked to the PC all the problems start to come out. im going to list the major issues with it below and someone PLEASE tell me how I can fix this, im also going to list the fixes ive tried. -------ISSUES-------- 1. the main way I know how the VR is going to break is when I first start up Quest Link on PC and im in the menu on the quest 3, framerate is a little choppy, and the controllers have an issue with tracking, for example if I swing and stop with the controller in my hand, my VR hand will go flying and then fly back to where my controller is. 2. SteamVR, when going into steamVR everything works fine, keep in mind this ONLY WORKS FINE in SteamVR Home. When I open a Game my screen will go black saying its loading the game, it will then cut to the SteamVR loading screen, it has never gone black before, then on my PC it will Load the game but not on the headset, my FPS will dip into the 10s, while the FrameRate is still awful it ill load into my headset and LAG awfully while only displaying a tiny screen of what my PC does. 3. Sometimes when I open a game in steamVR the loading screen will Freeze and when i move around in the vr the same image will follow my headset to where im looking, best example I can compare this to is if you hold up a piece of paper to your eyes and move around as that paper is still in front of you, is also does that for the problem is listed above too. and when that happens it will also do it in the oculus link home too. ---FIXES IVE TRIED--- 1. Factory Restarting the headset. 2. hooking it up to my laptop (has the same issue but I didnt change anything on there) 3. going into beta mode on both Steam and Oculus Link 4. Clearing my download Cashe 5. uninstalling and repairing both SteamVR and Oculus link 6. going into the windows registry editor and changing the OpenXR\1 back too WindowsMixedReality from having it as Oculus or Steam. 7. Moving the install folder of Steam VR and Oculus so it has a fresh start. 8. going back and changing everything back to what it was before I went to change it just to play pavlov34KViews1like29Comments
