Petition To Allow Developers RGB Quest 3 Data For Development
Hi, I'm currently developing an application for the quest 3 but need to use its depth and camera data. It already gives me depth but I can't get camera data due to meta's policy on "security". Many people complained about this already and I just want to put another post out there to spread the word.1KViews7likes2CommentsPlease let us developers access the cameras
Please permit us developers access to the cameras/pass through texture/mesh. We can make cool mixed reality apps with that. Privacy is not an issue because you can implement a permission that asks the user if he allows it. Many big companies do it like this. Like Apple/Google lets developers access the camera of a smartphone. What is the real reason why you don't let us access the camera?1.2KViews6likes1CommentPotential Fixes and Workarounds for "Liquid or Debris in charging port" warning
Hi everyone, After struggling with the issue of the "liquid or debris found" error message when using the link cable for development and pushing builds, I thought I'd share a couple of workarounds that seem to work some of the time until Meta issues a fix for this. 1) Try a different port on your computer, maybe a different type of port. I had the error pop up nearly 100% of the time I plugged in my cable when I was using a USB type C 3.2 port on my computer. When I switched to using a USB 3.2 type A port with an adapter, I am experiencing the issue much less. I am yet to use this for an extended period of time but I'll provide an update on how frequently the error pops up later. 2) Use ADB over Wifi. If you can get your headset connected at least once, it may be worth the time to get the Meta Quest Developer Hub and try using ADB over Wifi. I believe you have to connect the headset over cable once before you can use this feature but it may save you some time down the line. Of course, this won't work with features like Unreal's VR Preview but you will still be able to package projects and push the APK over wifi as long as you are fine with waiting for the time it takes to package every time.899Views5likes1CommentPlease add Quest Link cable support on Apple Silicon/macOS
I'm in the process of getting up to speed with Quest/Unity development and have discovered that Unity projects compile and run an order of magnitude faster on Apple Silicon Macs vs PCs. Although I'm able to use the Link cable to shorten the compile/run feedback cycle on PC, there is no support for this on macOS. meta please consider prioritising Link cable support on macOS. With the current status quo, it's tempting to leap-frog the Quest/Meta SDK learning curve and invest the time in another up-coming platform instead. Thank you for your time and consideration. best reagrds, Andrew1.1KViews3likes1Commenthow to manage Quest 2 via external software
Hello Everyone, I would need information / clarifications about the possibility of managing the Quest 2 through an external interface. In particular I would like to know if there are APIs (or other) that allow my application to: 1. install an APK made by me from a remote location, example: send the apk (also in local network / bluetooth / other) from PC. 2. remotely start an application installed on the Quest 2, for example: start the application (also in the local network / bluetooth / other) from the PC. in particular I need to start the same application, at the same time, on 30 viewers. 3. start and receive a streaming / mirroring of what you are viewing on Quest 2. I await your reply Thank you829Views2likes0CommentsPayout Account Tax Id Verification Error
For the last week or so, I get the error "Tax ID verification is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." when attempting to setup a payout account in the dev dashboard. This onlys happens for EINs, individual ids don't cause errors. In my case, I need to setup my LLC. Does anyone know a fix for this, or if it is being worked on by meta staff?3.4KViews2likes2CommentsPrivate app with multiplayer
My team is looking to deploy a private app with multiplayer. Initially we were going to use App Lab and the private keys feature... but I am not exactly sure how that works with the merge of App Lab into Meta's app store. Does App Lab still support private key sharing of an application? If not, our next plan is to try Meta Quest for Business to share the app privately, but I'm hoping we don't have to go that route... Any help is greatly appreciated. I wish Meta was more clear about the changes made to App Lab and how developers are supposed to handle it. Thanks!640Views1like1CommentSeeking Help: App Crashes on Permission Grant in Unity and MetaCoreSDK Application
I am developing an application using Unity and MetaCoreSDK. Recently, I published my application on AppLab. Through reports from customers who purchased my app, I discovered an issue with it. My app requests permissions for the microphone and spatial sharing. When the app is launched, an Android screen asking for these permissions is displayed. If the player selects "allow" on this screen, the app crashes, and a black screen is displayed. By restarting the app, it starts to work properly, but my app experiences this crash twice, and it won't function correctly without being restarted. Customers are returning the app because of this issue. How can I fix this crash? I have also searched this forum for this issue and its solution, but I could not find any effective answers.566Views1like0Comments
