Please let us developers access the cameras
Please permit us developers access to the cameras/pass through texture/mesh. We can make cool mixed reality apps with that. Privacy is not an issue because you can implement a permission that asks the user if he allows it. Many big companies do it like this. Like Apple/Google lets developers access the camera of a smartphone. Hi! I am currently developing for unreal and I find the hand tracking will be perfect for my use. The issue is that of all the gestures we can use, the thumb and index pinch is by far the most accessible and easy gesture to use and for the headset to recognize accurately, and that is a gesture that is system reserved. Even if I try to close my fist and then pinch it still sometimes recognizes the pinch as a system gesture instead. It would be unreasonable to request access to system gesture behavior for obvious reasons as apps and programs shouldn't have that access to begin with. I'm not sure what would be the best solution here, as I'm probably not alone in feeling a bit hamstrung trying to use such an awesome feature as hand tracking but being constantly thrown to the menu while using it. Some proposed solutions: -Make it possible to change the behavior in the headset menu so you would have to hold the palm up pinch for X amount of time before triggering the system menu. 1 sec, 2 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec for instance. Maybe with a ring closing around the meta icon to indicate how far away from opening the menu you are. -Make it possible to change the behavior from thumb and index pinch to something less used, like thumb and pinky pinch, or requiring both hands to do the system pinch. -Personally I would love to be able to relegate that system menu to the power button, so that if you are within an application, the power button would bring up the system menu. (Then long press to switch off the headset) Any feedback or possible workarounds would be much appreciated. Is there away to tell if an application build is running on ALPHA/BETA/ … etc. I'd like to test out different content depending if it's on a given release channel, something like get current release channel. I submitted my game to oculus rift store in jan 2020. I've only heard back from them twice to change some minor thing. Every month or so I send them an email asking whats going on and its always the same: "Due to high volume, at this time the Store Submissions team is not able to provide information on where your app submission is in the review process or a definitive ETA on when the review will be completed (however, it is longer than the listed time on the website). Rest assured, your app will be reviewed as all apps are handled in the order they are submitted. Once your app has fully been reviewed you will receive an email from the Store Submissions team with your results." My game is successful on Steam so it's not like I'm submitting garbage. Apologies in advance I'm not familiar with how things work around here but I was hoping someone could answer if not resolve the issue I'm having whenever I try to play a video in the oculus browser and the Firefox browser. When the video starts to load and play it glitches and I'm paraphrasing the error message that comes up basically saying it's unable to play, something along those lines. When I factory reset the device the videos will play just fine but after awhile they'll regress and won't play. Is there an update or downgrade I have to do? Or is the oculus go obsolete now? Hey all, when I try to upload a build / APK to the app I created (it should be PWA), It shows errors like: 1. APK has no main activity defined in the manifest 2. GLES version not specified 3. The focus aware manifest meta-data tag should be set with required=true It seems that the Oculus Dev Hub for some reason is trying to upload APK for native android/ios application. In the documentation, when you are creating your app, there is a checkbox that should be checked if you are building a PWA application, but the reality is that we are missing that checkbox right now.
