Suggestion for Developing an SDK for Meta Ray-ban Glasses
Hey everyone, I'm curious: will there ever be a developer kit (SDK) available for Meta glasses? I think the glasses are great, but there's not much to do with them right now. So, I thought, why not build a community around it? If Meta releases an API or something that other apps could call or interact with indirectly (since it seems there's already a service running in the background), this could enable commands from third-party apps. This way, you could allow users to develop their own apps and further customize the experience. For example, let's say I want to do something customizable, like turning on my smart lights using the command "Hey Meta". My own app could register a command (or more than one) so that whenever I say "Hey Meta, [do something]", this command triggers (it could be a post or a deeplink) that my app could receive and then perform the desired action, only for that command. And if this API allows me to use the camera live, like we do in Instagram livestreams, the possibilities would be endless. Think about it, everyone. Good morning fellas, I bought the new Meta Rayban yesterday and I find them much better than the old ones I only have one problem, from the settings you can connect a Whatsapp account for messages etc etc, the problem is that I use Whatsapp business and it is not possible to connect them to this app. The assistance confirmed it to me and told me to write a post here with a request to the developers so that they can make this whatsapp business also connectable. It would be enough to give the choice once you click on “connect” between one or the other whatsapp in my opinion. I placed an order for prescription Meta Ray-ban glasses on July 7, 2025, with an estimated delivery date of July 21. It’s now been over 30 days, and my order still hasn’t shipped. I’ve received no tracking number, no shipping update, and no new timeline. I’ve contacted Meta support multiple times. Each time, a different representative says the same thing, that the order is “too far along in fulfillment” to cancel. Yet there’s no evidence the order even shipped. I’ve requested a cancellation and refund several times, and they keep refusing or ignoring the request. They respond with “we understand your request” and then nothing. I’ve now filed complaints with the FTC and BBB, and I’ve opened a chargeback. Hi folks, My Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 have just updated to software version 20.0. The update description just says "bug fixes and performance updates". As someone who works in tech, jumping whole integer (19 to 20) in software version numbers usually signifies a large update. When I drive before the update, I can play music CarPlay and record at the same time. Now it pauses the music. Also when I picked the one press default to take videos, when I put it in the case and use it again, reverts back to taking a photo. It’s so frustrating. The previous version was way better. Meta please fix asap. It’s unusable and annoying. I don’t even want to use this anymore. anyone else having this same issue? I'm having a frustrating issue with my Gen 2 glasses where photos become extremely blurry when saved to Meta AI reminders. Has anyone else experienced this? What's Happening I've attached two screenshots of the same photo taken at the same time (October 9, 5:15 AM): Image 1 - Shows the photo after Meta AI processes it - very blurry Image 2 - Shows the same photo when first captured - clear and sharp When I take photos with my Gen 2 glasses and save them to reminders: The photo starts out clear (you can see this in the capture) After saving to Meta AI reminders, it becomes really blurry Once blurry, it stays that way - the clear version is gone I can't export it to Camera Roll (option doesn't work when I click "save") Why This Seems Like a Bug I have Gen 1 glasses too, and this doesn't happen with them. Photos stay clear when saved to reminders and can be exported normally. So this appears to be something specific to Gen 2. My Setup Glasses: Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 (Model: RB Meta 00Z1) Firmware: 19.1 Phone: iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS: 26.0.1 Meta AI App: 241.0.0.35.166 What I've Tried Updated to latest firmware Updated Meta AI app to latest version Tested with multiple photos - happens with all of them Tried exporting - this failed Reinstalled the Meta AI app and re-paired the glasses Impact For now, I've stopped using reminders via "Look and Remember" to save photos since they're getting degraded, and the only option is to quickly capture a screenshot on my iPhone before it renders blurry. Questions Is anyone else seeing this with Gen 2 photos saved to reminders? Any workarounds people have found? It might be that Meta AI is applying too much compression when saving photos to reminders on Gen 2, since the glasses capture them fine initially. As of a week ago, Amazon Music refuses to work on my Ray-Ban Meta glasses. If I ask the glasses to play a song on Amazon Music, the voice announces the track is about to play on Amazon Music, but nothing actually plays. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps such as reinstalling, re-connecting to Amazon Music, etc. Nothing seems to fix it.
