How Important Is Naming and Identity in Games & Apps?
I’ve been thinking about how much naming and identity matter in games and apps, especially in immersive experiences like VR. Whether it’s a player name, character name, faction, or even an in-game alias, names often shape how we connect with the experience. A strong name can make a character feel memorable, while a weak or generic one can break immersion. In some creative or role-play–driven games, I’ve noticed players spend almost as much time choosing names as they do customizing visuals. Outside of games, even simple creative tools like a Star-Wars-style name generator I came across recently, show how much fun people have experimenting with identities and themes: So I’m curious to hear from others here: Do you care a lot about naming when starting a new game or app? Have you ever changed your username or character name because it didn’t “feel right”? Should games/apps provide better built-in tools for name creation? Interested to hear how other players and developers here think about this.35Views1like1CommentMeta TV
Okay, for the most part, I like the most recent update, Meta Horizon OS version 79. I have not gotten the 81.0 yet, but not too concerned about that yet. But one app that seems to have been discontinued that I enjoyed is the Meta TV app. I'm really annoyed this one is gone because there were some really cool immersive videos on it that I really enjoyed, and now they appear to be gone as well. Ones that I had saved so that I can go back and enjoy watching them from time to time. Some of the ones I saved are Star Wars: Rogue One Recon Hyperspace travel that had narration with Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson(I don't recall the exact title) Observing the Earth from the Observation dome on the ISS And a couple of creative dance videos, I don't recall the titles or creators at the top of my head, but that is why I had them saved. And if you are familiar with these and did what I did, experience Hyperspace while listening to Blue Öyster Cult. Then I believe you understand my frustration. You have not lived until you fly through Hyperspace while listening to Blue Öyster Cult.210Views1like3Comments
