META QUEST OCULUS NEW WAY TO TURN
META QUEST OCULUS NEW WAY TO TURN State of the art: To turn you have either turn yourself (physical body) or use the thumpstik or use other devices like haptics or treadmill or setup. Proposal (idea): Like in strategy games on PC, to move around a map you approach the cursor to the side or edge of the screen. Similarly to turn on VR you should just need to turn your head to your maximum left or maximum right to start the turning (90 degrees over 360 degrees). By doing this you can look around without turning but you can start turning by looking beyond 90deg. Additionally the speed of the turning can be set by how much you ‘overturn’. If you look at 95º you would start turning your avatar faster. At 100deg you would be turning at max speed. Additionally this should be able to be set up by user (90deg to 110deg) or (45deg to 90deg) or any other number from 0 to 180 or any combination. This setting depends on user comfort. Between 90deg left and 90deg right we will call this dead zone. Beyond 110deg (left or right) we’ll call this saturation. Additionally we can add acceleration between dead zone and saturation. In my opinion linearly (no acceleration) should be the default. This type of movement is going to be called ‘turning by headset’ or TBH. Additionally this can also apply on the z direction (real ground to sky). By looking up or down we can tilt the plane or drone or spaceship up or down. This should be very useful for real drone driving as it will become much easier to drive. In drone-mode or plane-mode you would use the triggers to accelerate or brake (reverse thrust). Additional movements can be performed with the thumbsticks like rotate in the Y direction (z is ground to sky). Additionally you can also rotate on Y axis (clockwise or counterclockwise) by tilting your head clockwise or counterclockwise with the same system previously described. To move around (not just turn) I suggest the use of ‘Natural Locomotion’ (on steam) as it was in my original idea to do it this way but they did it first so I suggest to merge code to get a fully immersive easy to navigate experience. implementation for turning with headset in VR © 2025 by Pol Barreio Font is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International implementation for turning with headset in VR by Pol Barreio Font is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalimplementation for turning with headset in VR © 2025 by Pol Barreio Font is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International implementation for turning with headset in VR by Pol Barreio Font is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International META_IDEAS_PBF/ at main · PolBarreiro/META_IDEAS_PBF433Views0likes1CommentUK Keyboard layout for USB keyboard
So, I don't currently have a bluetooth keyboard. No problem I thought I've got a wireless small logitech keyboard with a USB reciever and an adapter. Which works really well... but I'm rather disappointed to find all the layouts for a phyisal keyboard seem to be US? Would it be that much to put UK options? Tried to screenshot the options but it blanked them out..691Views2likes1CommentExplorting 3d Scans made on the Quest 3
It would be really cool to be able to export the models and textures made while 3d scanning environments using the quest 3. This would allow us to import the scans into a 3d modelling program like blender, to be able to set them up for use in another VR game or experience. In a way it would be helping expand the content available in the metaverse by allowing users to get creative, even if the 3d model isn't particularly high detail, users could add in missing detail via a 3d modelling program. We could also add extra detail by modifying the textures, normal maps, height maps ect. I would love to be able to make a map out of my gaming room for use in a social VR game! People used to make maps in CounterStrike years ago called RAT maps, where they would model an environment where the player was tiny playing in a massive ( to them). Having this feature available would make is much more accessible to create fun content like that. Progress is good ^_^, and the less limitations we have for contributing to the content available the better! Unlock peoples creativity ^_^2.2KViews0likes1CommentMeta AI, Meta View, Ray-Ban - Add the ability to store user-defined system prompts
I'm particularly impressed with the AI capabilities integrated into the Rayban glasses. It's a game-changer! I believe it's the future of AI interactions. I'd like to request a new feature in the Meta View app to use with the Rayban glasses: I would like to have the ability to save multiple user-defined prompts that can be easily selected and injected into the Meta AI when using the glasses. This would allow me to access frequently used prompts without having to rephrase them every time. For example, I'd like to define a prompt like "Act as an English teacher to correct my sentence grammatically" and save it as "Prompt 1" in the Meta View app. Then, when I interact with the glasses, I could say "Hey Meta! Select Prompt 1" followed by my question or prompt, and the system would use the predefined prompt to respond accordingly. This feature would greatly enhance my experience with Meta AI with the Rayban glasses and I believe it will open up more possibilities for using the technology in various scenarios. Thanks.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsMake Oculus rift S swap with Meta Quest possible
Hello everyone, I just asked Meta customer service for this thing and the support I got agreed with my idea ^^ I asked if it was possible to exchange my Oculus Rift S with a brand new Meta Quest 2. By "exchange" I mean that I send my Oculus Rift S and I get a reduction for the Meta Quest 2 like a trade. It will be cool and its a positive point for the ecology, it prevents the old product for being thrown away. I hope you will agree with my suggestion and that my post reach up the Higher up of Meta to be approved ^^ Thanks to the customer assistant Chris.A who said me to post on this forum. Thanks for reading me 🙂1.1KViews1like1CommentVirtual Glasses
If all glasses do is warp the way that light hits our eyes to make our vision clearer, then do you think it would be possible to code a VR headset to take a glasses prescription and change the way it presents images to mimic the glasses and clear their vision in the virtual space? That we have glasses prescriptions means that we know how those measurements effect our vision, so why can't we program the headset to make those changes to how it presents images to us? If you combine that with eye tracking and foveated rendering, then it doesn't seem like it should be impossible.537Views0likes0CommentsSome tiny features you guys (devs) should add
Hi devs of the oculus quest 2, I'm a big fan of the headset. Unforunatly, there are some ridiculus things that bothered me because they should be there but they're not. I'm just asking you developpers to add these little things that could make a big difference for me, and for a lots of other people too. First: I'm french but not from France, I'm french from Canada and our keyboard is not an azerty layout, it's a qwerty layout. so I'm asking for the canada community to add our language both english and french canada. Second: It's kinda obvious that the settings menu is missing a date and time adjustment option, please can you guys work on that. I don't want to factor reset AGAIN just to adjust the clock. Thank you if you read this message and take the time to work for these suggestion, it would mean the world for me, thanks again.796Views1like0CommentsI am having trouble with connecting PC and Quest 2, any suggestions?
Hi, I recently bought a new Oculus Quest 2 and tried to connect it directly to my PC for development, the problem is I cannot connect my PC with Quest 2 via its included Type C cable, it doesn't show me any messages, or alert box, instead it just charging, I searched every possible solutions and still didn't work. In my PC, I also can't find Oculus device in device manager even connected with usb. Developer Mode is On Thanks!794Views0likes1Comment
