Still Not Visible! Some Indie Games Being Dropped
NOTE III: I've started a reddit thread in indiedev if anyone wants to add or comment on it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieDev/comments/1g8yzc4/warning_the_meta_quest_store_may_not_be_indie/ NOTE II: Meta Quest Store has no intention of helping indie developers if there is something wrong. Please see the ticket thread I have had with the team and then the response I recieved today, at or near the bottom of the comments. NOTE: If any other developers are having this issue, reply in here, it seems there are more of us than I thought. Let's try to get one big item going. Hey Meta Quest Team, Yes, I did a post last week about how our game has been approved and is not visible in the store and I'm doing another one. I appreciate that you responded, we sent an email to the support email you gave us, but it just went to the same team that we have had an open ticket with for the past two weeks. Two weeks!!! Our game is only visible if people type in its name exactly. It never appeared in new releases. It doesn't show up in any categories or search terms we gave it. Two weeks of the same response from the team with the ticket, "we have escalated it". How in the world does it take two weeks to determine what the issue is and fix it. Thousands of dollars went into our release strategy that we vetted at GDC with the meta employees working the space there. Thousands!! We are a small studio, everything we do we vet and determine the best course of action. I asked if there was any way they could act like it was new so we could get on the front page under new release like we planned to be and were told that we could always delist the game and then go through the submission process again. How in the world is that an answer! Do you know how many people can see and download your game if it isn't visible or at the very least semi-searchable. No one. The only reason a few people have seen our game is because streamers have had to say you need to type in the name of the game directly, or people click on a sidequest link. Freaking sidequest can see it and categorize it from your store but you can't seem to do it. Everything was geared towards this release. We did not expect it to be big, we were hopeing for luke-warm at best, we are realists. But this is insane! We have already had to tell everyone to find another place to go work because as far as we can tell, Meta is incapable of doing simple tasks like listing a game where they say they will and the last of the funds was used on a now-useless release campaign. Another great response we got was a list of articles on how to submit and publish a game on Meta. Thanks! We read those a long time ago and then again when you started merging the stores, we talked to you, we did everything that was asked and it didn't matter. Long winded way of asking a simple question. Why can't meta fix what is happening to our game? Can we get the email or a phone number of someone who can actually make something happen? We have asked the developer support and we just get the same response. In the email where they said to delist the game and resubmit they said they did not recommend it. So, what, are we just supposed be like ohh well, meta said your screwed so were screwed. At this point it seems like the only viable option because I'm starting to think you don't have control of your own system. Just in case anyone thinks I'm making something up i'm going to post the support thread in the comments6.8KViews3likes57CommentsUsing capacitive touch as input for native android apps
I am trying to find a way to use the capacitive sensors on the quest 3 controllers to register touch input. This would allow for faster taps (not having to press the buttons all the way, more responsive in theory). I couldn't really find anything about mapping the capacitive triggers outside of unity or unreal engine app development. How would I achieve this mapping for native apps and apps sideloaded via apks? Any pointers would be appreciated. ps. I am a software developer myself but I haven't done any projects on VR/MR development. However I know about android devices and went as far as flashing custom roms, rooting, sideloading, modding etc.335Views0likes0Comments(feature request) Passthrough for objects of my choice
So I've started using my Quest 3 as a cheap alternative to having enormous monitors, and while mixed reality works, I prefer VR as it shuts out the room and lets me focus. But this is borderline impossible because of how much kit I'm messing round with. I've got: my phone the left and right controllers a keyboard and mouse my personal laptop, end client's laptop and the consultancy's laptop my headphones my vape a cup of tea or coffee / can of coke / snacks I'm constantly popping out of VR and into AR to find something, and back again, feeling lost when I'm in VR. Because if an object was invisible when I lost track of it, the VR experience has cost me object permanence. This would be pretty easy to fix. AR Toolkit lets you detect the position and orientation of objects via printed stickers that look kinda like QR codes. Pop a printed sticker on an object, draw a bounding volume around it and have that area be visible via passthrough. Or replace them with a 3D mesh of my choice if you want to get fancy. "tracked keyboards" sound like a good idea, but having a special case for every object seems suboptimal. My Das Keyboard isn't ever going to be supported, and Meta are never going to enter into an agreement with vape companies. My wallet, keys, bank cards, my light switch, remote for my stereo, the chess clock I use to time how long I've been procrastinating instead of working - all these things are arbitrary and personal to me and how I live. I could actually do this myself, but I'd have to build yet another mixed reality productivity environment - and I've got my own code to hack. Stickers might be a bit ugly but they are CPU-light thing that would be a massive win for all apps on the platform. Plus if users let Meta use them to gather image data, it could be used to bootstrap object recognition in general. They'd know which objects are actually important to people, how often they're used, what they look like and where they usually are. Without judgement or corporate optics filters - an ashtray, bong or bottle of whisky gets equal treatment to more wholesome things like a dumbbell or a keyboard.401Views0likes0CommentsCollaboration Proposal for Oculus Sponsorship in Our Virtual Reality Project

Hi everyone, I have a D J I Mini 4 Pro that supports R T M P live streaming, and I'm looking for a way to broadcast the live feed directly to my Meta Quest 3. Does anyone know which apps or methods I can use to stream the video to my headset, either through R T M P or any other option that works well with Meta Quest 3? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!868Views0likes0CommentsH265/AV1 Hardware Decoding Support for WebRTC on Quest 3 using Browser App
It is known that the chips powering Quest 3 supports H265/AV1 hardware decoding (SNAPDRAGON® XR2 GEN 2 ). For web platform development(Browser Video Support for Web Platform), the official document states that Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2 have hardware support for video decoding too. And the codec includes H264/H265/VP8/VP9. Now my question is if the hardware decoding for H265/AV1 is supported on Meta Quest 3 when using the WebRTC for video streaming on the native Browser application. If the browser does not support, what other platform I could use to develop a WebRTC video streaming service with H265/AV1 hardware decoding2.5KViews2likes1CommentLPC seeks tools to use Oculus for Professional Counseling
My wife is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Texas. She has a growing number of clients that are now using Oculus as an aid in their counseling sessions. While there are several “guided meditation” programs that offer benefits to her counseling sessions, much could be done to provide a more quality and beneficial mental health therapy session. As an LPC, her sessions are covered by most major insurance carriers and we feel that with the right visual/audio software, along with a wide range of potentially new hardware development, this field could expand and grow into a new way to provide superior mental health care for millions of people. Who would be the best person or persons to talk to to discuss this potential opportunity for mental health professionals and hardware and software developers thought the country and the world? Please let me know.428Views0likes0Comments
