Quest 2 Controller Tracking Degradation
Hi everyone, I’m hoping for some input from experienced Quest 2 users before I make a final decision regarding controller replacement / moving away from meta by upgrading my headset. Over time, my right touch controller (and to a lesser extent the left) has developed noticeable tracking degradation. This wasn’t a sudden failure, it gradually became more apparent during gameplay, particularly in Beat Saber where consistent tracking is important for accuracy and fitness use. I’ve gone through extensive troubleshooting, including: Testing in multiple rooms (including a different property) Controlled lighting conditions (no direct sunlight, no reflective surfaces, no LED interference) Fresh batteries (multiple brands) Re-pairing controllers Cleaning headset cameras and controller rings Guardian reset Full factory reset Testing both standalone and via PCVR The issue persists across all environments. I’ve been in contact with support and understand that, as the device is out of warranty, replacement controllers would need to be purchased through the out-of-warranty program. Investing close to £100 in refurbished replacements, seems very risky and steep, I want to be absolutely certain there isn’t a less obvious cause I’ve overlooked, especially since the root cause hasn’t been conclusively identified as hardware failure. Has anyone experienced gradual tracking degradation like this and successfully resolved it without replacing hardware? I’m particularly interested in: Battery contact or movement issues Less obvious environmental interference Known long-term wear factors Any advanced diagnostics I can try I use my headset primarily for exercise, so reliability is important, but I’d prefer to rule out every possible factor before committing to replacement hardware. Appreciate any constructive suggestions — thank you in advance.124Views0likes5CommentsUnable to perform Factory Reset
Sooooo... I've only had my Quest 2 for 6-8 weeks. Recently, I started having issues where each time I boot the headset, it says "Lost Tracking"... yadda yadda yadda. I am able to work around this by simply waiting until I get to the main lobby, go into setting and turn Tracking back on. It seems to work fine for that session. But every time I turn the unit off, the next time I boot I have to go through the same thing. I reached out to support a week or so ago and they said to perform a Factory Reset. Well, I tried that but it didn't work and it was late. So I have been dealing with my work around since. Next, I have begun to have issues with In Death - Unchained where the game tile just says "syncing" and you can never launch the game. Again, I found a work around by going to the store and simply running it from there. I do get a warning, something about possible progress being lost, yadda yadda yadda. Reading some of the posts about this issue, seems like the same fix... perform a Factory Reset. 😐 So, tonight I tried to do just that. I shut down the headset, then press and hold the power button and the volume - until then menu comes up. Problem is... it only comes up for a fraction of a second then the unit self reboots. The menu is not on the screen long enough for me to even read it, let alone use the +/- buttons to select Factory Reset, if that option is even there. Again, it flashes so fast I can not even read it. So.... now what???Solved46KViews1like36CommentsMeta Quest 3 no longer recognizes head tracking.
Hi guys I am here as desperate because my Meta Quest 3 started to give me this problem as per the title, I will tell you the story in more detail: I got the Meta Quest 3 new months ago and it has always worked perfectly, the other day I used it in PCVR with the cable as always and without any problems, before I turned it off I saw that out of nowhere a new item "Allow automatic power on when updating" had appeared under the item "Automatically update before power off", I didn't give it too much importance and unchecked as always and turned it off; I then put down the headset as usual which hasn't received a beating or anything these days, today I turned it back on and basically when I go into the home if I move my head above the view goes below and if I move my head below the view goes above (basically the head tracking doesn't work), the controllers are not recognized at all (but they flash and every 20 seconds they vibrate) and after a while the headset brings me back to a black screen asking me to try using hand tracking or the controllers if the problem persists (which is useless because they don't go for me). I have tried rebooting it many times, even going to the Boot Screen and clicking Boot Device, but nothing, it doesn't work. Also now when I turn it off (which I have to do forcibly), when I go to the power off menu, there is no longer the "Allow auto power on when updating" item I mentioned earlier, I don't want to have turned off the device while it was updating, or I don't know what else, even though I had checked the notifications and there was nothing updating. What can I do guys? I don't want to format it, it took me months to set it up just the way I liked it. I'm asking for your help, thank you all for those who have made it this far.Solved7.5KViews0likes14Comments
