Virtual Desktop via Link Cable on
This seems like a simple question but I can't find any answers. I would like to use virtual desktop on the Quest 2 via the link cable (NOT WIFI) just to troubleshoot connections and utilize the neat environment features of the app. Is this possible? I play FPS's that are 2D on my quest and using the oculus desktop "button" doesn't provide the nice features of screen sizing and everything else that virtual desktop does (and the games spontaneously crash). Is there another alternative other than VD or the oculus desktop? How do I get it not to crash? Hi! Just wanted to post here to get a seperate thread going. As of today there is a major bug in communication between Quest 3 and certain types of Router models. So let's get a list started on Wifi 6e routers that actually work. What Router do you have experience with being stable at 2400 Mbps in dedicated 6e mode? Remember to post Router name and model and screen grabs/video from the Quest 3 showing the speed. (Turn on experimental wifi settings to do so.) This is by no account a list that is for everyone. So far I found that some of the more expensive models between 350-700$/€ have been reported to work. So meta still has a major bug to fix. But if you can afford it, this might be is a way around the problem… ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ The bug explained: There is a bug with negotiation rates with certain router models. Essentially AX and AXE models but more might also be affected. I have been investigating this bug since launch and finally both Meta and TP-Link have confirmed that the Quest3s negotiation protokolls with the routers is very unstable. This problem is totally unrelated to VD or AirPlay functionality, but it's here you'll notice the problem. As of right now the Mbps can flux from approximately 1080 to 1900 on 6G and ocasinaly dip down below 800. Making it stutter and glitch in latency. On 5G it will flux between 1080 and 420 Mbps making it essentially unusable in wireless PC streaming. Both Meta and TP-Link are currently investigating the problem. Meta has stated that the problem will be fixed with a firmware build in the near future. If your experiencing this bug and want to follow its progress you can follow this seperate thread: https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Unstable-wifi-covarage-with-Quest-3-on-some-Router-Brands-Known/m-p/1099915#M241197

I've come across discussion about people setting up their dedicated routers for wireless streaming, but the vast majority of this information is pretty confusing and fragmented. There isn't really a definitive set of instructions in one place on how to get this working that I could find, so could anyone with this specific router walk me through it? I plan on using Virtual Desktop if that matters.588Views0likes0CommentsHow to view my PC from outside home network with Quest 3?

How do I set up my unity settings so I can test my games with the quest wirelessly in virtual desktop? Full title didn't fit I have been messing around with the learning tab in the unity hub and got to the virtual reality part, virtual escape room. I would like to be able to test the scenarios in VR wirelessly using virtual desktop but I can't seem to find how. Someone on the virtual reality discord told me to inject the unity.exe with virtual desktop but this still didn't allow me to get in to the scenario with my quest. My thoughts are that I need to set up some settings beforehand I don't know about before injecting it but your guess might be as good or better as mine at this point. If anyone has faced this issue before and knows how to fix this I would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.1.1KViews0likes1CommentWireless editor preview on Quest?
I'm trying to sort out some tricky physics issues and need to do trial and error. I'm on Unity 2019.2 and deploying to the Oculus Quest via Build and Run, which takes quite a while to build and test for each iteration. I'd like to see the preview when clicking "play" but on the Quest. There's a possible way to do it with Oculus Link, but I think it could work with Virtual Desktop streamer over wireless. If you google "virtual desktop unity script" you'll see something that once worked but it's no longer in the asset store (4 years old). Is there an updated version of this or some other method that works wirelessly?1.1KViews0likes2Comments
