How can I check my warranty
I recently have had 2 messed up controllers left hand has controller drift and right hand has controller drift is cracked and has major tracking issues. I was wondering if my oculus quest 1 still has its warranty activated so I can get replacement controllers.35KViews0likes3CommentsPlanned Obsolescence? (UPDATE BREAKS QUEST)
I've had my Quest for less than a year. My first unit bricked itself after updating and was replaced by Oculus. After the most recent update, my second unit's left OLED screen died (most likely due to it overheating, as the left fan stopped working). I took out a ticket with support, who asked for info and told me they would give me instruction to have it replaced. That was two weeks ago, and they've since stopped responding to my replies in the thread. This unit is still covered under the warranty. I'm very concerned that this "failure" could be an intentional move Oculus, to force early adopters to upgrade to their newly released Oculus 2. If so, its an egregious abuse of their customers base (and quite frankly illegal in CA). I am a solo dev and my HMD is essential for continuing my project (which I've now sunk significant time and capital into). Has anyone else had their Oculus Quest fail in the last month? Is Oculus is deliberately bricking old units to push new product?1.2KViews0likes1CommentRift S controller issues
My right controller shows the analog being pressed to the top left corner so naturally my games constantly spin. You could imagine after spending 400 on a VR, over 200 on new VR only games, and over 2500 on my PC you could see my frustration. Anyone else experience a complete lack of help from their customer service? I have needed a controller to be warrantied for well over 5 months now and they always give me the run around. They need this info or that and when i give it to them I either dont get a response or get told to look for a solution in the forums page so here i am. My warranty is going to expire in 1 month 1 week so i am trying as hard as i can to get this company to do the right thing. Batteries have been replaced 10 plus times not exaggerating. I have repaired Oculus software, I have down right uninstalled EVERY piece of Oculus software and reinstalled and still same controller issues. Oh and there is no customer service phone number so you cant actually talk to someone. Seems by design. I have sent them the "DAY ONE" page info they asked for in my oculus info file, my room conditions are perfect for play, it used to work perfect. They seem to believe their products dont malfunction. If i dont get taken care of I will never buy a game from their store or a piece of hardware again.725Views0likes1CommentFaulty pixel, again... - How to take a proper pic??
I now have my second GO with a faulty pixel. The first was basically a total loss due to the warranty restrictions Oculus has. After using the second GO now for about a week I first though there is some dust on the lenses. Could only see a faint pixel fault in certain conditions. Like on a fully black background the pixel would appear blue-greenish and is quite faint. In other colors it is not always visible, depends on what RGB value is in use. But now that I noticed where it is this pixel is really annoying me, mostly when watching a movie or having dark scenes in some VR experiences. The first time around I had a fully dead pixel right in the center of the right display. Now I have a pixel with just a faint problem in most colors and only better visible on full black. Still no cam I have is able to get this pixel to show up. After about 50 pictures with my DSL the best I got was the flysreen visible but the pixel itself only visible in the image after enhancing the colors and playing with the contrast and brightness. My DSLR has 8mp my phone 12 but it totally fails to get any clear fous other than on the lenses. So how doesone take a usuable pic for a really problematic pixel that can be use for the warranty claim? I somehow doubt a picture that went through a lot of post processing won't be accepted here. And what are my chances to get this sorted before xmas? The thing was actually meant as a present and I wanted to make it a bit more complete by installing some of the experiences and apps.1.3KViews0likes6CommentsBlinking orange light+wont replace coz Oculus Go travelled to the Philippines even if under warranty
Would appreciate inputs regarding this issue: 1. Device was ordered through Amazon 2. This Oculus Go (OG) was shipped to a friend in Las Vegas 3. This was manually transported (through check-in luggage) by a friend from Las Vegas to Manila, Philippines. 4. As I was using it, I could not connect to the Oculus app and Oculus support team asked me to do a factory reset. 5. I did it, now it won't open. This is when the orange blinking light came about. 6. I've asked if you can pick it up here in the Philippines, you said no – it's fine, cause I know it's an unsupported country. 8. I've asked if you can pick it up somewhere nearer, like HK or Singapore, you said no - again, it's fine. Since these are countries you don't support. Again, I understand. 9. I've asked if you can pick it up in California from another friend (since the friend in LV always travels) instead, I don't think they understood this part or maybe just didn't see it – again, it's fine. 10. I'm asking now if I can ship it back to the friend in Las Vegas (again, original shipping address) so you can pick it up there – this I'm sure is a country / state Oculus ship to cause you just did for this particular product. I'm currently waiting for a clearer answer for this which I don't think should be a problem. 11. Now they're saying that Oculus can't replace the device since the OG has travelled to and has been used in an unsupported location (Philippines) – the device has not been physically opened - no parts has been manipulated, etc. - so I would assume warranty has not been voided, perfectly intact. I do not understand why they're resisting to replace the device if I just ship it back to LV where they can pick it up and drop off the replacement; no logic in voiding the warranty if device has not been opened. This was given as a gift - what choice do I have? Would anybody have any recommendations on this situation? HELP!1.1KViews0likes2Comments
