Exploring the Milky Way in Horizon Worlds
I'm a galactic cartographer and a member of the European Space Agency's Gaia Mission Data Processing and Analysis Consortium. I've released two Horizon Worlds experiences in which players can fly starships around the galaxy. One is a treasure hunt game and the other is a galactic space port. Every year, I plan to release something creative for Easter. I've launched a mobile app to do Scrapbooking (not live anymore), and did an app to paint a 3d egg (web, social). We were working as a team on the other battle project, but it was hard to work at the same time in one world, and it was Easter, so we split forces a bit, and worked on both. Initially, I wanted to do some active Easter fun + painting, but in the end we decided to concentrate on the painting part. I personally do love painting miniatures and do love snow globes, so the goal was clear. I was trying to achieve proper control of the brush for every platform. And I hope I did well. The idea of focused control came on the day before the last day of the competition. https://devpost.com/software/easter-fest https://horizon.meta.com/world/3043638249119872/?hwsh=IlaU223Gdo&locale=en_US So, please check my world and give some feedback on the brush control. It should work in a "natural" way. You can touch the objects directly or shoot at them. If you want to try the Focused mode, go up to the Terrace (on the right of the entrance). P.S. Thank you all for the live sessions and tutorials, they inspired me every time. After the Masked flowers session, I've added a watering activity, etc 😎320Views2likes2CommentsgrowHomes - farmville-esque virtual real estate in Shireville

Sorry, it's me again. This world is highly inspired by the movies Oblivion and The Gorge. While working on the worlds, I keep in mind that the world should be interesting for a solo player, for a team of friends, and a random company. We were trying to create the spirit of the Far outpost, where the player can chill and do some routine maintenance. If the player needs some action, he is able to go to the Watch. There he will meet angry drones. The bite turned out to be a bit bigger than we could bite. So we left a lot of bugs there. So please check the world, we will continue working on it after the competition. And I promise we will fix everything. https://hz.me/w/3025528860930811?hwsh=ocUX7sHdlr https://devpost.com/software/sky-invasion I'll put some known issues and some hints in the comments.228Views1like1CommentIntroducing Myself + Meta Horizon World Showcase - You Shouldn't Be Here
I'm Aisjam, and I'm looking forward to be part of the Creator Program. Thank you for having me. I've spent the last decade working in immersive technologies, mostly with Unity, and I've recently been exploring what’s possible in Horizon Worlds. I’ve been doing a few experiments and wanted to share one that combines psychological worldbuilding with large-scale testing. https://horizon.meta.com/world/9726743030747447 This world is inspired by real-world research from Sandia National Laboratories, where scientists explored how to deter future civilisations from approaching nuclear waste sites. Their solution wasn’t based on language but on shapes, materials, and emotional cues that create an atmosphere of dread and unease. So I built a massive, ominous environment, a 4km diameter circular map. Using a fully custom mesh to simulate that experience. It’s designed to feel wrong, empty, and imposing, without needing to explain itself. A few things I learned along the way: Tiling textures on large polygons fade or break down visually during the experience, so texture scaling and optimisation are crucial. The platform handles large spaces fairly well, though optimisation becomes increasingly important at this scale. I'm really happy with how the sense of scale and isolation came through, especially at the centrepiece. I also plan to bring in some of my synthesizer soundscapes to deepen the experience. Found its a struggle to import audio loops so did some sample stretching with the default ones. I've been creating ambient and atmospheric sounds that would fit perfectly in these types of speculative or unsettling environments so we will see what the future holds for sound on meta horizons. The world is now live if you’d like to check it out. I’d love any feedback, especially from those interested in, environmental storytelling, or experimental space design. Looking forward to connecting with you all and sharing more creative ideas!429Views13likes1CommentPuzzle Rush: BETA!
Hey all, My first world is ready for people to start beta testing it! It's called PUZZLE RUSH and its a cooperative puzzle solving game that scores you based on how many puzzles you can complete (and pieces you can place correctly) in a set period of time. Here is a link: https://horizon.meta.com/world/633542662967688 I've been able to check that a lot of the functionality works when I'm playing solo, but I could really use some help testing out how things run in multiplayer. So if anyone can hop in and try it out I'd really appreciate it! And, of course, let me know if you have any feedback or run into any bugs or other problems. Thanks! -Ryan1.1KViews33likes7CommentsA familiar mobile throwing mechanic
Many popular games in Horizon Worlds do not work well with the built-in mobile throwing. So I made a more advanced throw that will be VERY familiar to mobile gamers. When you grab the ball you can then swipe upwards to toss the ball in that direction with that much force. You could also get fancy and spin in circles before you throw to add a bit or curve to your throw. In this demo I just used the common gameplay of tossing a ball into a bucket, but this could apply to any game that requires a more advanced toss such as basketball, horse shoes, Mölkky, and bowling just to name a few. https://horizon.meta.com/world/10171030208840634/171Views8likes0Comments
