CV1 firmware update

Illuvata
Explorer

Hi community,

After a long time of not using my Oculus Rift CV1 that I bought as a keen VR fan when this was just coming out on the scene, I tried to use my Rift this evening to find that it needed a firmware update. Despite, plugging/unplugingg the headset trying all the 5 different USB ports on my computer, the firmware update is not possible.

Should I still be able to use the CV1 and if so how can I solve the firmware update for the headset?

Thanks!

You'll probably have to contact Support:

Btw - Rift CV1 is still perfectly functional - I use it every days right now for The Shore VR - more info here:

Many new hmds have high res and a limited sweet spot - the CV1 has low res but an utterly giant sweet spot. I often wonder what I like the best 🤓 Using high amount of super sampling the Rift CV1 still shines.

A week later and I'm still not able to upgrade my firmware.. 😞

Have been working with Oculus support but no luck yet.

Have you tried using another rig?

Oculus Rift CV1, Valve Index & PSVR2, Asus Strix OC RTX™ 3090, i9-10900K (5.3Ghz), 32GB 3200MHz, 16TB SSD

only have the one rig..

It's just annoying because everything was working fine before this latest firmware update. Not sure exactly when it was released because I wasn't playing it so recently.. but all the games and everything worked... so annoying that oculus forces these updates that is disabling previous systems that were functioning fine....why do that?!

Maybe I should test my spare CV1 - it might not have been updated - to see how that works 🤔
